dear professor ,the history of the moroccan sahara doesn't start with the spanish occupations, for hundreds of years this territory and other territories including today's moroccan sahara/today's mauritania ,timbuktu and the western part of today's algeria, all these regions used to be part of the moroccan sharrifian empire ,before colonization started , as a reminder ,i would like to mention that the current rulling dunasty in morocco is in power from the 17th century ,and even with the existance of colonization, the house ramained and the moroccan political system didn't vanished, when colonization came to morocco, european invaders devided the empire into 8 parts ,which are the following;( tangier/international zone;UK;Germany; france spain and other countries(the northern part of today's morocco/spain(the central part/ france ( sidi ifni/spain( the moroccan sahara/spain(shanquit/france ;later, the french named it mauritania and got it seperated from it's mother country( timbuktu/france ;later;the french added it to mali( the moroccan eastern sahara/the french added it to their algerian colony)...so what morocco did in the second half of the 20th centry was just getting its land back.......history should be treated well an carefully and some infos should not be ignored.

Morocco's links with its Saharan provinces went back to the unification of Greater Morocco in the 11th century; the southward extension of pre-colonial 16th to 18th-century Morocco was much greater than in modern times; the scattered Saharan tribes- mostly of north Moroccan origin- historically paid allegiance to the Moroccan kings, and five out of the seven Moroccan dynasties themselves were of Saharan origin.
It was a French Protectorate, not a colony. The languages are Tamazight and Darija, not French. You really need to change that in the video, i see way too many reactions about it.
