I understand the message in this video. Basically fame and money can change you. And sometimes when you finally reach the top, its not sometimes what we quite imagine. And we sometimes battle with ourselves still trying to figure out who we are, and what we expect ourselves to be. He's saying we take certain things forgranted and are so quick to forget our purpose and why and how we got here. Or how we came so far the lengths the support from family, friends what matters the most to us. Money can buy you friends and the things you want and need but you cannot buy someone's love. So he wants people to understand what fame can do to people but don't let that change you. Yes its so hard to shy away from the real goal and dreams to be blinded by the riches. Just remember who you are and the one's who love the real you and who you should be yourself.
Unfortunately, the cold truth is that people don't "blow up" because they want to. Their talent and a dash of luck is what propells you in the industry. And sadly D Pryde evidently has neither.
I love this song and I love Pryde but listening to his old stuff always makes my chest hurt as seeing him struggle now... but he is doing better #RUSSELL2017 please god let him pop...
First time I've heard this kid and I think this one's sick. Glad to see him being lyrically responsible and not talking about pistol grip pumps and selling white squares
+Austin Whitelaw that's what im' fuckign saying.. those people on his new shit.. must mostly be new people.i like 1 or 2 of his new shit tops.. and his style and even his personal style.. idk wack to me
+TragestyX i've been with russ since mars and his new stuff is far better than before. mars music limited his talent so it could be a hit with the kids but his new stuff is for the more matured audience. if you don't like his music then you haven't grown alongside russell.
When I first started listening to D-Pryde, I'd always see someone in the comments talking about how proud they were of him for getting so far, found it on every video. A year later, and i learn about all the things he's went thru, and heard his music progress i finally understand. It's like when he raps his song take you onto a journey into his life, you see him struggle, grow, and know what's important to him. Now it's my turn to say how proud I am of how far his gotten. Keep it up man
I've never heard or seen this guy but I love the way he carries himself. I don't see how anyone could call this fake. He looks like a normal mid 20s male.
Quite frankly, I appreciate the honesty in this song. I don't give a shit who you are, most of us make that bold statement like money wouldn't change them if they made it. How do you know until you've actually the grasped the lifestyle of a millionaire spoiled in financial freedom. We are all prone to sin, gain the world and it'll be hard to let it all go.
You need to take a trip to a record store or spend a good rest of your life listening to real hip-hop, let alone quality music in general. Start with the roots, Miles Davis....Herbie Hancock....Funkadelic.....work your way up to hip-hop because you obviously don't know what it is if you're listening to this bullshit every day.
Jay Bernal Obviously you don't know what music is in General, the change of music to peoples minds and thoughts into written lyrics. To you those are "hip-hop" Bullshit you say, no, you don't even know who he is. From the start.
Kev If you trippin on me its the wrong person, go trip on that other kid, I love this guys beats and always recognize his music no matter what, lovin it every day :)
To everyone that's going against what I say why would you try to stop me from giving him advice that would change his life for the better and open his mind to higher levels of consciousness and thinking? Do you wish to hinder your brother from ascending and thinking beyond the confinements of modern mainstream American mentality?
why do ppl hate and bash so much on youtube? if u dont like it dont watch or listen. not saying this guys great or anything like that but i enjoyed it, entertained. but either way go to sleep u little kids.
This is the stupidist statement I've ever heard. I'm willing to bet everything had this kid been offered a multi album contract with a major for a few M's, he would've jumped on that without hesitation. D Pryde didn't make it because D Pryde ain't talented and charismatic enough. D Pryde's views can't even crack a mill after over half a decade of posting.
Stu Pidazzo You can’t blame him though, his realest songs couldn’t even propel him to fame, it’s not his fault people don’t want him. He’s better off starting his own thing like you said and maybe become a business man.
I performed with D-Pryde in Pittsburgh this week. Gotta say, if you get to meet him, you'll gain so much respect for the kid. Great artist and even better person!
First of all, D Pryde is signed by a major label, Def Jam. If no one knows him, tell me why he's UA-cam famous, especially at his age (from 16-19) that's a 3 year span from little EPs to More popular hits with half a million views. Mc is just a wannabe fly union member lol
All the things you bought DON"T exist after life. True shit. Why grind so hard for all that money when knowing you can't bring them with you after life.
Don't even go there, I don't know you and you don't know me. But trust me when I say I've had my fair share of altercations. Listen, do us a favor and stop arguing with me. I got bigger shit to worry about. No idea why you attacked me in the first place after like a comment that's 7-8 months old or something.
Man that hurt my feelings I am Filipino too but I'm definitely not like that other guy. Not all Filipinos are the same. P.s Samoa is a pretty cool country and I have a close friend who is Samoan.
*Homie, I hope you reflect back on your rap career in hindsight and learn why you stayed getting only a few thousand views & never got to blow up: You never grew, progressed, or got better. Your music stylistically stayed in '09 while you seemed to care more about your hair, getting tats while boasting about how "dope" you are and how you've "made it", but that can't be any further from the truth. Your flow and pen game never stepped up while musically your peers and adversaries evolved passed you. Not to mention you already had the challenge of lacking charisma and having a rather unappealing nasally rap voice. Watching your interview with Tim was a bit on the depressing side, as it was obvious your thoughts and wisdom has derived from a comeup of "could've been" and wasted potential. Maybe your biggest claim to fame can be opening act for J Cole. Now assuming you have come to terms with your life and career for what it is, perhaps it is now time to re-invest your time and energy on more fruitful projects and accept your fate, but not one as an accomplished rapper that you had initially hoped. I wish you nothing but the best D-Pryde.*
You think that means anything to his fans?? well you can hate all you want because he's always going to have fans supporting him no matter how many haters there are and I will always be Dpryde's #1 fan.
OMG I think I saw D-Pryde at Central Park today in New York City...I was sitting in front of him on a rock and didn't even know it was him until he got up and left with his homies...ahhhhhh
I feels good (for me) to see where you came from and where you at now. Always good to see someone successful, or at least better than where they began. Progress is progress. Keep it up D.
All the haters atm.... You CAN'T just deserve attention. You earn it. He has a HUGE fan base. He got signed. He deserves all the hardwork that he puts into his Label and music since he was 16.
All love my friend, this song is 100 legit too at least you're not afraid to admit money makes some changes in your life, just do you forget everyone who hates.
I thought Prizzy had lost it, but this song has made me realize so much more of what he feels.Prizzy didn't lose it, He gained more. Yes he has changed a little but at least he is rapping about who he is and not these stereotypical pot rappers whom all thay care about is money drugs and fame. Keep going Prizzy!
Clearly you're new here. But for those of us who are loyal fans and have been watching this guy grow up and get big we know that he did it himself with hard work and labor. He didn't use his daddy's money to produce the video because if you listened to the lyrics of his song you'd know he didn't grow up privileged but instead worked hard to get himself signed by Mars and eventually by BMG. Get your facts straight before you start hating on people who are actually making something of themselves!
"You pick up some fans and a handful of haters along the way" I, am your absolute #1 fan and no matter what any "hater" says, you deserve all the success and blessings that come to you. I'm so proud of how far you've come. You're ganna be HUGE one day. Just remember," haters don't necessarily hate you, they just hate themselves cause you're a reflection of what they want to be". At least someone in the comments gets the idea, unlike the other dumbasses
wow you can listen to the lyrics. so smart
But you worked hard for it not changing if you get what you deserve for working for it
Its sad cause its reality for him. This song still gives me the goosebumps as his mom passed away and he didn't blow up as he wanted to. RIP
that's true
It's sad
What happened to him? Does he still rap?
ItsKarmaXD yes , he changed his name to pryde then to Russell , look him up on IG or youtube
Unfortunately, the cold truth is that people don't "blow up" because they want to. Their talent and a dash of luck is what propells you in the industry. And sadly D Pryde evidently has neither.
D-Pryde, we miss you.
He goes by Russel now I’m pretty sure
Anyone listening in 2024? I still love this shit
Me brah.
Hell yeah 🔥
Yo, saludos desde chile, escuché d pryde desde sus comiensos cuando hacía freestyle de canciones famosas 🫡
I remember when he was still a kid posting random videos on youtube ... God bless you man
Wished his vevo visuals would've hit milli views
Miss the old songs tbh.
this is the best comment I'v seen. Helping people understand the meaning behind an obvious masterpiece of music

So proud of this dude...if you only know where he comes from to get here.
damn used to listen to d pryde wen i was in high school...honestly listening to his lyrics i feel super bad 4 him.
so true
+Ruben Aguirre his new shit is good but his old fans prob won't like it as much. But he obviously isn't getting the same views as before.
+Austin Whitelaw that's what im' fuckign saying.. those people on his new shit.. must mostly be new people.i like 1 or 2 of his new shit tops.. and his style and even his personal style.. idk wack to me

Chris Samudio No. If I don't like it, it means I don't fucking like it.

Always rubbing hands together, because rappers always need more Purell.
I've never heard or seen this guy but I love the way he carries himself. I don't see how anyone could call this fake. He looks like a normal mid 20s male.
Goes hard brother! Proud!

Damn this shit is fucking tight . Can't stop listening it everyday .

***** Don't speak if you have nothing intelligent to say you only make yourself look like a fool that matters not.
Prizzy fans from the beginning are still losing it over this. So proud...
why do ppl hate and bash so much on youtube? if u dont like it dont watch or listen. not saying this guys great or anything like that but i enjoyed it, entertained. but either way go to sleep u little kids.
n dude got a record deal and make good money on youtube. haters.

One of the deepest songs I've ever heard
So glad ive gotten to see dpryde up and coming.
Seriously miss your old songs where your raps truly had more sense and content. Where it wasn't all mulah, bitches, parties and etc.
D pryde finally getting places, mad props
Dudes mad talented, just isn't getting the consistent exposure to make himself big time.
Look at him now. How does he fall off when he's better now musically.
Cannot wait until D-Pryde blows up. He DEFINITELY deserves it. I know many of you agree too !
Saving this onto my computer as a mp4 and onto my cloud just in case.
...Re-upload it

f all the haters saying d-pryde sucks he dont
Killed it in Canada, Now he is bringing it global!
Dang people complaining much? Y'all don't like the kid, don't listen... or rap for yourself to listen. lol. problems answered.
He didn't make it cuz he didn't sell his soul
This is the stupidist statement I've ever heard. since when did he sign with def jam?... lol definitely not
John legend is actually signed on Kanyes label G.O.O.D music js
All the things you bought DON"T exist after life. True shit. Why grind so hard for all that money when knowing you can't bring them with you after life.

Na bruh
D-Pryde has made it so far! congratz fam.
Respect him for repping the fellow filipinos, but dude has to change his look. I can't take him seriously with those glasses and that haircut
Don't even go there, I don't know you and you don't know me. But trust me when I say I've had my fair share of altercations. Listen, do us a favor and stop arguing with me. Angelo Jaramillo i bet you are rocking the same hair and glasses now. This dude is a trend setter. 4 years ago he rock these but it now trending.
I remember this nigga use to freestyle over beats in his room....keep it 100...and keep it up
*Homie, I hope you reflect back on your rap career in hindsight and learn why you stayed getting only a few thousand views & never got to blow up: You never grew, progressed, or got better. He's 19. Kinda cool to watch his progression from youtube to signing a record label. Good for him.
I went to the same high school as this guy just a few years ago, and now he has his own Vevo channel, whoa
It’s crazy to see this. Dawg I’m old
I remember him from the MC Showcase 2008. Congratulation D-Pryde. Dreams are coming true. Keep doing you man.
He looked cooler with his old hair style from like the Mars mixtape. He looks borderline crazy with his hair like that but its cool Prizzy for life :)
This is by far the best D-Pryde song ever! Stop making remixes and start making music like this.
Dpryde is a really good rapper, I hope he doesn't change though.
All love my friend, this song is 100 legit too at least you're not afraid to admit money makes some changes in your life, just do you forget everyone who hates.
I really love his voice when he raps, makes me want to keep on listening. Gotta have a unique voice when you're rapping, it makes a difference.
I see you D-Pryde! I remember when you first started out on UA-cam back in like 2007. Started from the bottom, now you here!

This shows that you can do literally anything in life if you just put your mind to it. dopee prizzy!

YOU ARE GETTING THE FAME THAT YOU DESERVE
this man goes hard, first time I seen him!
Keep doing your thing D-Pryde and never forget your fans who've been supporting you from the beginning. You're amazing
Untill they turn 90. They wake up and their face just DROPS.
Best song he's made in awhile.
