Hanson is also an author, and his latest book, "The Dying Citizen," examines the Left's attacks on the middle class, attempts to track America's problems over the past several years, and explains how they have affected the average citizen. Within the government and other important institutions like universities and media, there are postmodern and progressive thinkers who want to fundamentally change America and the world into a more centralized globalist system. And unfortunately, the cultural divides in our country only make this easier for them. Hanson explains that as Democrats slowly whittle away at the middle class, what they're essentially doing is returning to a form of feudalism, which supports only a few extremely wealthy lords but a multitude of extremely poor peasants.

I don't think folks realize that Hanson is one of the best historians in America, and perhaps internationally. He not only has written countless essays and books, but has written the foreword for other historical books, some of which I have. Guy's a treasure.
Sometimes I feel bad for him because he seems sad about the trajectory of the West, as history shows clearly the conditions we're seeing now will lead us to a dark place.

You are absolutely correct. As a Fresno State grad, he is a giant to me. His ability to give historical perspective is unmatched due to his knowledge of history, especially Ancient Greece.

I was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas; but I remember the words of my adopted grandmother, our neighbor, Ms Jessie, in the 1960s. She was correcting what I had learned from my teachers at Hall High, that there was nothing of value in the middle class. Ms Jessie gently explained to me some of what Dr. Hanson teaches so eloquently, that the middle class is the backbone of most societies. My dad was not a fan of FDR but I thought he was the one who just didn’t understand. I lost him when I was just sixteen. How I wish I had listened to him and to Ms Jessie then.
Did FDR not help expand and save the middle class?. The U.SA is so heavy handed on Propaganda that favours and worships the "Rich"1%. Those 1% have stolen and looted and exploit the sad masses. Knowing this does not make someone a communist or left. The game has always been rigged.
So much here to unpack. 1. If everyone is middle class, there ceases to be such a thing. 2. FDR won the war, by siding with Stalin in large part. 3. VDH is hardly middle class. He owns land, which happens to be farmland. He is not a farmer. He's an intellectual elite. 4. None of this has much bearing on the righteousness which is only to be found in Christ.

I live in Austin Texas, and the number one entrepreneurial group in Austin and in Texas is Mexican Americans. They start more businesses than any other people group and yet they are vastly devastated by the high taxes of the liberal left. Why does the Republican party or the conservative people of America not help them understand how voting for Democrats only hurts their small family owned businesses?

BTW those "Founder's" really knew their stuff and human's! I believe we're starting to gain some ground back in the Right direction. Be a proud citizen of the United States and VOTE Red at every level from school, local, state and FEDERAL level. We can't lose or we all lose !

I think social media has created a generation of parents who cares more about their children as accessories and props than as hans in need of attention, teaching, discipline, and love. I am thinking of the parents who advertise online that they gave their healthy 5 year olds the covvax. They buy and share the narrative without really looking into what is best for their children.

Good interview, Allie. The more I hear Victor Davis Hanson, the more I appreciate him. I hope his optimism proves correct.
Unconsciously, the modern human race is relying more and more on the left hemisphere of the brain and neglecting the benefits of the right hemisphere which is about our ability to see the big picture and guide the left hemisphere’s local attention in the right direction. Victor Davis Hanson is speaking from the right hemisphere of the brain. Unfortunately, our schools and universities have become advocates of the left brain hemisphere. They don't want to see the big picture much less go in that direction. But the brutal fact remains that if we don't engage the right hemisphere of the brain we're going to have a short-lived history, mainly a dystopia.
You actually need both hemispheres of the brain function. To control precision of the movement of the body

How does one explain, that this man’s quiet, modest & unbiased brilliance -perhaps unsurpassed in the USA, - is not at the pinnacle of the very widest exposure.
Victor Davis Hanson and Thomas Sowell are the two best minds out there. They surgically attack The Left's philosophy (or lack thereof) and within a few sentences make such clear and concise arguments against them. I would love to see a round table discussion between Hanson, Sowell, and whoever else can hang with these great minds.

Good interview. The Republicans need to come across as a party, united as unique individuals. Not simply Trump as this will not create a sustainable change the country needs.
The reliance on the GOP to be an effective opposition is why the Progressives are winning and will eventually triumph. The GOP Noe-cons are simply the right hand, the Democrats the left hand, both belonging to the Deep State. This is why Trump was unable to effect any permanent change in 4 years. The goal of the GOP leadership is to hold the line and prevent the Globalist agenda from being rolled back whenever the Democrats overreach and lose an election. In the Soviet Union the KGB started and ran ALL existing opposition groups, just to keep them ineffective. The Progressives saw what happened to Woodrow Wilson's efforts, how they were all lost when the real Republicans won in 1920. That's why when it became obvious the same thing was going to occur after the dead of FDR, they took over the GOP. Goldwater was the last real Republican candidate that could have effected real change. But if he had been elected, he'd have ended up dead like JFK for the same reasons and by the same people. What we need is for people to stop supporting the Republicans and start supporting the Libertarians or Constitutional Party

The answer to Allie's question of why are they doubling down on things that are not ending well is that things ARE ending well for them. And they're convinced, with good reason, that they can make the next round of elections come out their way.
Notice how almost no conservative talk show will touch or admit to election fraud. Conservatives are their own worst enemies. I'm starting to admire the Left because they have boatloads of committed valiant leadership, they really fight [literally] for what they want, and can't be intimidated no matter how inconsistent their talking points are. The Right lays down when attacked, apologizes and pleads for understanding, has no leadership to speak of, and just hopes & prays things go better for them. They can't allow themselves to really feel justified in their cause because the Left has pounded them with guilt for 40+ years, and all they want anymore is not to be called names, or told they're being "unfair."
The Left has discovered and proven that ridicule is the greatest weapon you can have, and will overcome ANY resistance to ANY agenda, and achieve it permanently, whereas arms of any kind can only take & keep victory for short periods.

@@candaceroberts3238 it's all about the battle for the heart and mind of the third person, the onlooker, what impression is left with them from any encounter between left and right and that's really difficult to judge correctly. what is the deciding factor to make a person cast a vote the way they do. the left studies this more closely than the right do, which is why their policies tend to apeal more to females and minorities. this ensures a larger share of the vote in any election. the targeted vote v the general vote as it were. what the drawback to this is that they are conflicting interests in most cases and the left is always at a loss in how to solve problems between the interests of oppressed groups( they never know which side to favor lest they get called bigots, a lable they use against the right who try to fix problems regardless who it upsets) the right is easier to lose votes quicker because of this problem( a choice between two and there is a loser). the left don't choose but fudges any answer and states it's a systemic problem needing more ( fill in the blank) thereby not losing opinion or votes as quickly. this administration though has ditched traditional left think and has gone all out to take over the country because of all the elements vdh mentioned, they now feel emboldened to hold a coup of the people /country and overthrow the constitution itself replacing it with their vision of the future- the green new deal 2030.
@@candaceroberts3238 I wasn't praising them, only pointing out how much more they seem to care about getting their way than the Right does. The Right has been intimidated into feeling like it would just be wrong to take their country back. We see fighting tanks and armies - in some other country - as ok, but not insidious ideology, political corruption, and gradual moving legal power to their side. We see it as their "right" to do this, and tough sh_ for us. We love quoting stupid ideas the equivalent of "I don't agree with what you're saying, but I'd be willing to die to make sure you get to ram your agenda through congress, and destroy the society my other self sacrificing relatives died to preserve". We're actually more afraid of an "extreme Right wing" government than an extreme Left wing one, because at least we can tout our great tolerance for free speech and others views.
The Left has ingeniously turned the spectacle of us thinking we're defending the constitution into their best asset and weapon against it. And up until a few years ago, I had hoped there had to be a line somewhere that the Left couldn't cross without starting a war or secession, but have now realized there is no line they can't cross as long as they keep it barely gradual enough.
Can you tell me where the line in the sand is for the Right? Where is the line the Left cannot cross before we stop asking them nicely to please abide by the constitution? There isn't one, and everyone knows it, but few even care. I admire the Left now because at least they care about what they want, and will do what it takes to get it, while the Right cares more about being seen as "fair" by the Left's increasingly ridiculous definitions.
The Right has become the weak intimidated parent of the Left, who is already grown up and suing their butt for "child abuse", while the pathetic parent continues to plead with the child, and offer it more toys and treats, trying to explain that they never meant any harm.

Their pride knows no bounds which ultimately is unfruitful. "He that humbleth himself shall be exalted" ( Luke 14:11;18:14) Pride comes from Satan and so those that flaunt their pride do the work of their father the Devil.
