I rode that area for years. I always had my rain suit and full face helmet just for the rain but soon as the sun comes out the suit and helmet come off,too hot!
I did that ride a couple of years ago, great scenery but just straight flat road, still had a blast. Renting an Indian challenger at Stu’s in Ft Meyers. The whole trip was a great experience
The ride to the Keys sucks bad. Once you get there it's ok. It is almost impossible to ride in Key West however. You should not forget the Gulf side. It's the best side.

I plan on flying to Ft Lauderdale with a buddy and renting a couple bikes and going to Key West. Youre doing EXACTLY what I want to do!!!
