Special thanks to Califrê for playing The Reaper!
#VioletOrlandi #DontFearTheReaper #BlueOysterCult
I gotta say I do fear the reaper 👀 what’s your biggest fear?
War on U.S. soil..
no idea what a reaper is
Being completely alone
Being forgotten after I'm gone
@@boudewijnmeijer reaper is some one that harvests a crop and also the instrument used to harvest the crops and it is usually pictured in the hands of the character Dead (the reaper)
I feel like it was only a matter of time before we both covered this song 🤣
Indeed, sir
Great job Johnathan !!!!
It's only taken 30odd years to get a truly excellent cover
So how does a distance collab like this work. Is it more hammered out in tuning and post processing or is there more exchange at the beginning about establishing note ranges for different parts of the song?
You two slayed it!
A duet where the man sings high and the woman low is definitely something I needed in my life and didn't knew
welcome to musical cliches. :D
Kamelot "Wasteland Monarchy" has this as well, although she also growls.
They sing Good together, Man&Woman Forevermore………
Check out the Dream On cover by First to Eleven and 10 Second Songs. They take turns doing high and low notes.
Ive always laughed at the "needs more cowbell" jokes, but listening to this song, and noticing that its great, but getting to the end and feeling there was something missing from the song, and realizing that it legitimately needs more cowbell.
There's definitely something missing, not sure cowbells would save it.
listening to it now and getting to the second part and i started clapping on the beats. it really needs more cowbell
I have a couple of cowbells. One handheld & one snare mount.
It's an instrument-a-long. Just pull out your cowbell.
Its absence is genuinely conspicuous.
Could really use more cowbell lol nah, this is great! Another great performance by all involved.
Ha ha I thought the same thing SNL ruined me.
I knew someone was going to beat me even though the song has been out for less than 30 min lol
Awesome comment!!! It reminds me of a certain skit that never fails to crack me up!!!
Yup.. stupid jimmy Fallon couldn't even ruin that skit. (He couldn't stop laughing in the background.. never could stay in character)
I've been beaten to this :-D
I'm constantly astounded by John's vocal range. The contrast between him and voilet are just magical. Love every bit of their featurings
He is incredible. There are alot of fantastic singers in metal history, he can give me everything I want in a metal vocalist. Her voice is gorgeous. Not likely to happen but I'd love to hear her cover the haunting by kamalot
Am I the only one who really likes when Jonathan sings soft and thinks he doesn't do it nearly enough?
He does sound really good when singing soft clear vocals like this
I am OBSESSED with your look in the first part of the video, with the hair and the jacket. You look like such a badass and I am here for it! Great cover, too.
well she has self confidence that is why she looks like a badass.
She definitely wears her outfit well. Beautiful. 😍 🐶🐕
Agreed. Absolutely stunning
...and everything her voice touched became golden...
She could sing a song using the plumbing section of a phone book and it would move souls like some ethereal train bound for glory...
This was oddly gorgeous and I love it.
Well said
er, yeah, that. What he said. One of them. No, actually, five. Or Ten. What pack size are they.. ok one then. Is that including VAT? Course I am mate, do this all week. But it's Friday, innit?
to be fair I ain't got a lot of brain cells left to HEAR this song while typing about it. Violet's singing voice. just. Er. Yeah.
Guess what? I got a fever! And the only prescription... is more Violet Orlandi songs! Another awesome collab, Violet! There's just something about songs you make with Jonathan that make them stand out so much. Thank you once again!
Yesss. Violet Orlandi and Jonathon Young are my all time favorite. Their videos are on repeat around these parts all day, e’ery day.
Im not sure what the question was but the answer is definately Violet.
The question doesn't matter, Katie. Only thing that matters is the answer - Violet
One of the greatest rock songs ever.
Seems like just yesterday Violet was sitting in her room with just a camera and a guitar making great music. Now she's becoming a world wide sensation and still putting out the great music. Looking forward to more!
Blue Oyster Cult was my first concert in 1976. When dad picked me up, he said that I smelled like beer- I told him that the guy behind me spilled it on my jacket, lol
Did he believe ya? Pretty weak lie bro, not gonna lie. LOL!
@@MrEgofreak He never said another word about it, lol.
@@angelo8424 Good for you then!
Dad knew.
@@prn8330 Of course, he was 16 once, lol. And this was the 70's- Back then it was customary for a dad to give a beer to his son around 14 or 15, which he did.
I love this old-skool aesthetic! The hair and outfit work so well with the old-timey music video style.
You covered one of my most favorite songs of all time. You did it so well; it was a transcendental experience for me. "Thank you" just does not seem adequate. I listened to this repeatedly. I'm not usually one for this type of self-disclosure on social media but I think it is appropriate here. The Blue Oyster Cult and a few other bands (and especially this song) got me through the night when my mother was dying and after she passed. I was 14 and she had cancer; I was there first hand for her decline over the course of three years. The last year was the worst. The lines, "...and she had no fear; And she ran to him, then they started to fly; They looked backward and said goodbye, she had become like they are...," were running through my mind when I last saw her, moments before she died. Those lines, and a prayer of gratitude to God. For 30 days I prayed, "Lord, she suffers. Please, cure her or take her but do not let her linger." A few days before she died I heard this song for the first time.
I'm in my 50's now and it still hits me the same way.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I gotta say, I love this cover. There's just one problem. "I've got a fever, and the only prescription is MORE COWBELL!"
Didn't know I needed it. Absolutely incredible. Violet's voice makes it so much more haunting, too.
This is a great version of this song! I used to jam it on my electric guitar playing on the front porch along with Cat Scratch Fever, the Jack, and Song & Dance Man. The cops would come by and say, "you can't play amplified music outside in public view without a permit."
Thumbs up for violets hair being freaking awesome.
Did someone else noticed that for brief moments, the voice of Ville Vallo, vocalist of HIM, can be heard from 3:55 to 4:08?
They also made a cover of this song, in their album Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666 :D
Thanks for the cover and the amazing reference
У Вилли, она звучит супер.
If I ever want to show anyone what I see when not wearing my glasses, this video is it! Great song and video!
Truth
My first time hearing Orlandi. It's fantastic hearing hearing an amazingly beautiful voice that isn't overpowered by Jonathan's amazing voice. Great vocal synergy
Как всегда потрясающий женский вокал и радующий глаза видеоряд! Говорят Ютуба в России больше не будет это большая потеря! Успехов вам в творчестве! Сибирь тоже вас слушает!
One Of THEM - Is a little likenze STILL - GL
Да, будем изучать VPN и Proxy
These folks definitely put their pants on one leg at a time! Great voices and arrangement of this cover.
I always think of the scene in Scrubs where Ted's band performs this in the Pediatric Ward and JD muses on whether it's appropriate to serenade sick children with a song "about the upside of death." Knocked it out of the park again, Violet!
Meu Deus, cada semana você se supera!!! Ficou incrível demaisssss! Amo essa música!! 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
More duets from these two. They are simply wonderful together.
One of my favourite songs.
You two should really do a cover of Where the wild roses grow.
PLEASE this needs more likes
Please, do it!
Yrssss
Definitely!
If Ghost had a female singer
After listening to this I'd love to hear you sing the song Don't Pay the Ferryman. I don't know why, just suddenly thought of it after enjoying this so much.
Spanish Train is rad too.
HAA!! Thought I was the only one who remembered Don't Pay the Ferryman. Anyway,, DON"T EVEN FIX A PRICE!!!!!!
One of my favorite songs preformed beautifully by two of my favorite artists! I absolutely love this!!!!
This is one of my favourite songs of all time, and I was prepared to be disappointed. I wasn't.
I fear not death, but only the manner of it.
Outstanding! Great performances from both of you. Brilliant!
A lot of 80's vibes in this one!
Violent + Jonathan is a match made in heaven. Both with such a powerful voice blends so well. Need a whole EP please 🙏
Just realized the deeper meaning of the duet. They are asking to go together.
Don’t do it! We love your music!
One of the best songs ever.
Это прекрасно! Я очень рад видеть вас обоих, поющими вместе. Спасибо!! Brilliant! I'm so happy see you guys singing together. Thank you!!
I used to absolutely hate covers, but with fewer and fewer quality songs being put out, covers have become a way to hear good "new" music.
Violet Orlandi, just as gorgeous as her uniquely gifted voice and one Hell of a visual artist 🎨
This song brings a tear
This song works so well as a duet. Glad someone did it for youtube.
One of my all time favorite bands.
Setting aside the music for a moment -- I think your outfit and makeup in this video are my all-time favorite. It's understated, but there are lots of interesting details to be noticed by people who pay attention to details.
This is enchanting and haunting 🥺 oh I got chills, tearing up, your voices are so beautiful! Bravo
Your voices sound so beautiful together. Perfect harmony!
I love her hair like that! Another great team up!
It sounds like it’s done in the style of Ghost 😍🖤
Second best duet cover of this song.
The title of the best cover of this, goes to Finnish band, HIM. Which has regular vocalist Ville Valo, & guest vocalist Sanna-June Hyde, on vocals.
Awesome! I love Jonathan and Violet. Every time they do something together, they knock it out of the park.
Love the key change, gives the song a weightier feel
Violet you absolutely rule this Earth You were the greatest of all time I absolutely love your music
The song which kept me going through worst of my times... You guys just gave it a new life... Bravo!
This used to be one of my favorites a few years ago, absolutely love this performance!
You are quickly becoming pretty much the only music I listen to
Love this collab, Violet. Will Ferrell and Christopher Walken would appreciate this. I gotta fever! And the only prescription is more cowbell! Love your hair and makeup Vi.
Haha, it just needs that cowbell...agreed.
Now a blue oyster cult song with Violet Orlandi and Jonathan Young that is sick
You two are just perfect together, this cover is amazing 😍 the video is like a small musical and I absolutely love it.
Hauntingly beautiful.
Excellent song choice and even better performance Violet and Jon🔥❗️
AWESOME VIDEO ❗️
Why does this whole video just vibe so hard?
Your voices compliment one another so well, god damn. Amazing cover as always!
Absolutely incredible
I Love this song🤍
that’s an awesome cover as always, love your take on it👌🏼
but I have to say, HIM’s cover of it on Greatest LoveSongs vol.666 (1997) is my absolute favourite🙌🏼
That version was superb✨
I must agree on this. Love your singing Violet but you should have gone more towards Him's version rather than the original.
I lile NSP's cover the best
Hell no BÖC will alway be the best. Violet’s cover is amazing.
@@jolenemathews I actually never heard this one before, it’s so different I enjoyed it 👍🏼
But HIM’s is still my favourite😜🤍
@@AnarchyThirtySeven agree to disagree🤭🤍
Her side profile is just perfect… dang! Love this cover 🔥🔥
As soon as I saw who made this cover, I knew it was going to be amazing, and I was not disappointed!
I have been writing on youtube comments section of you big 4 cover artist, to cover this song....about bloody time....love from Mumbai India
Interesting take on the song. Tempo of the voice versus the tempo of the song makes the song sound it bit slower and Gothic(?), almost taking it into the metal zone. Fantastic cover.
Great job on guitar. So many guitarists would shake their heads no, to taking on a monster guitarist like Buck Dharma. Bravo!
What I love about this song is that it's very romantic and dark. It's the lead singer saying to the person they love.
"Let's die together"
That's not actually what is being said at all.
This made me feel so nostalgic
(Insert cowbell joke here)
Another brilliant cover Violet 🙌🙌🙌
This is not only excellent but a 100 on the " true-ness " scale.
Cada vez melhor!!! Muitoooo bom 🤟🏻❤️🇧🇷
Love this for many reasons.
What a timeless song and amazing cover
The both of your voices are powerful but together are so powerful, I'm young but would love to hear songs with yours with you guys, y'all are amazing
Great job you guys! You really pulled it off, was on the fence at first but the second I heard it start I was like this is absolutely great!
WOW Violet looks stunning.
Let's goooo! This crushes! Well done you two!
Understated...but brilliant. Energy maxed with restraint. This is what I want to listen to.
Cara que música show achei até estranho o Jonathan cantando soft sem a potencia da voz mas ficou mto bom
Really excellent. Better and better. Thanx for the rock.
Fantastic cover...💯
Badass look for Violet!
I was hoping to hear more of Jonathan's villain voice, given the subject matter of the song.
It's a mistake to think of the Reaper as a villain. The Reaper ends life at its natural endpoint and carries the soul to its final destination.
@@danielhaire6677 Except that the song is about a dude talking his girlfriend into mutual suicide.
Except that is wrong. It is not about suicide. Read the meaning of the song as per the singer.
Ngl I screamed a little when I saw this. This is probably my favorite song, ever. I've listened to so many different versions of it and the original through the years. This collab was perfect and you both killed it!
Loving your version of this. Keep it up. Have you ever thought of covering Dust in the Wind by Kansas. I think that would be amazing
I would love to hear this
Rocking tune
Muito fodaaa. É aquele ditado né: "Essa foi de foder, Cleytin"
This is siiiick
wow, Jonathan's voice gave me goosebumps
Make rock not war.
Why not both ? Make war while playing rock.
Make rock and war.
Some of the very best rock music came out of war, Vietnam as example
Love, love, love!
This is such a pretty cover. The vocal effects were tripping me up a bit tho.
(Don't Fear) The Reaper by Blue Öyster Cult is probably my favorite song ever. When I listened to your cover, at first, I did not like it. I did not hate it, but I did not like it. And then, the song grew on me. I listened to it a couple more time, and the more I was listening, the more I knew that it was actually brilliant. I understood that I first rejected it because I love the original so much. I still prefer the original to be honest, but I really think you did this cover in the best possible way. To me it's a different, great song. Amazing work, wish you the best.
Needs more cowbell
This deserves a thumbs up
Years ago I was stuck inside during a winter storm in Laramie, Wyoming watching the History Channel I believe. Anyway, the channel had a show that discussed something historical while playing music in the background. This particular episode was about the cult of Jim Jones and Jonesville playing Don't Fear the Reaper on a loop. Seems memory association works since I think about it every time I hear this song.
Why do I love this cover more than the original? It's just amazing. Thank you.
