Jessi was suppose to be a trainee with SM but she wanted to sing & rap which didn’t fit into the concept; she stayed friends with a lot of SM artists and LSM who helped her stay in the industry. She became infamous on the variety show called Unpretty Rapstar where her NY side came out and put her on everyone’s radar. Her fandom is called the Jebbies and she loyal af to us. Jessi is as self-made as you can get in Kpop.
The song Cold Blooded was suppose to be performed by the winning team in SFW. Jessi thought they all deserved to have a shot (She doesn’t like elimination shows because of her Unpretty Rapstar experience)and ask the teams to choreograph the song in sections with the winning team having the largest section. She showed up in the end to bring it all together.
My personal favorite from Jessi is "What Type of X", kind of shocked it didn't make it to your first reaction tbh. Highly recommend it!! Enjoyed this reaction :)

Jessi said in a "More Talk" interview that despite what many people may believe, there's no innuendo to Gum. She's literally talking about chewing gum.
I don't believe that at all 😭 she says "my peach delicioso" and we all know what peach means. "I'm feeling freaky" "shake that ass" "take it off" "make it clap" "clap it with no hands" 👀 "boy you know you want it" "suck it dry" "my booty got that groove" and more. I think she might've just said that as either a joke or so she didn't have to answer who it may or may not be about bc there's absolutely no way there's no innuendo. It's too direct
@lynxelisX IT could be though. Peach gum exists, clapping without hands as in "chewing" and "smacking" exists. Feeling some type of way without getting sexual exists 😅
@nalaa9618 yeah no... the term "make it clap" is quite literally sexual. Also, you completely ignored the rest of the lyrics, "suck it dry" "take it off" etc convince yourself all you want lol
Yess Jessi is a QUEEN (in capital letters), she dont give a shit about anything, she is super in your face just as you said, her verses are genius and she is an amazing artist. People tend to say she is super intimidating but irl she is a cutie and super sweet.
Fun Fact Cold Blooded Ho is a play on her own last name (aka Jessica HO) . Jessi lyrics may be simple for a lot of her songs but she there tends to be a lot of cute metaphors / puns and references that you don't see with a lot of artists out there 🙃 Also Jessi not entering till the end was very intentional as she really wanted to make sure that the choreographers and dancers get their moment in the spotlight. This was supposed to be a tribute to them ☺
SWF stands for Street Woman Fighter, which was the dance competition show for female dance crews/choreographers that really blew up in Korea. So, all of the dancers in Jessi's "Cold Blood" are super famous all over the world now. SWF has now made some of Korea's top choreographers so famous that they almost have idol status and EVERYONE knows them and wants to work with them ever since they saw them competing on that show. All the dancers in "Cold Blood" are household names these days and they are even regular guests, cast members and hosts of variety show programs. They have made it so choreographers are no longer just people in the background that the public never sees or knows who they are, now the dancers are just as famous as the artists they work with. Jessi is Korean-American from New York/New Jersey. Her style is very western influenced, but she will always come back to her Korean roots and she also has many K-hip-hop and K-pop songs, as well. Jessi really started to become recognized and become famous when she participated in the Korean female rap competition show called Unpretty Rapstar in 2015, which was the female version of the Korean rap competition show Show Me the Money. She has had a hard time over the years really finding her place in the Korean music industry, so a lot of her songs are a big flex, as she tries to prove to people that she knows what she is doing and that she doesn't necessarily need their approval. She will always be true to herself. With her brash New York style and very western flavor when it comes to most of her songs, it has been hard for her to get a lot of people to take her seriously as a Kpop artist. She has been in the industry for more than 18 years now and it's only been within the past few years that she has really started to find her stride. Jessi is currently 34 years old. She started out as a member of a short-lived K-hip-hop group in 2005 and then became a solo artist in 2009, so she is a second gen. artist that has really put in a lot of work to get to where she is today. In 2014 she became a member of the Kpop trio Lucky J from 2014-16, while also continuing her solo career. She spent most of her career under YMC Entertainment, but in 2019 she signed with P Nation, which is owned by Psy -- the creator/singer of the mega hit Kpop song, "Gangnam Style", among others. She left P Nation last year and has now signed with More Vision, which is Jay Park's new label/company.
The woman in the end of Nunu Nana is Lee Hyori. She's an idol as well with a lengthy career. You should check out Don't Touch Me by the Refund Sisters. It was a special supergroup project with Jessi, LeeHyori, Hwasa, and Uhm Junghwa. I think you'd like that a lot as well as Jessi's What Type of X.

Street Woman Fighter is a Mnet dance competition show of all of the famous but not recognized that much street dancers. Jessi appeared as one of the missions for the show, all of the remaining crew made a routine/choreo for this song, and Jessi picked YGX's, thus they're in the beginning and first chorus of the song. I can say that this is like a series now, because this show got so famous globally. They even had spin-offs for it like Street Dance Girls Fighter (these are young street dancers prolly in teens) and then Street Men Fighter. This year, Street Woman Fighter 2 is still on going. Hello, I really love your reactions and have been following for a long time ❤ So happy to see you react to Jessi as she is one of my favourite and realest artists out there. If you have some time would you please listen to some songs that bring out her vocal side? Here are some titles: Numb, Excessive Love, Don't make me cry and my favourite song I wan to be me (one that means a lot to her as well if you see the lyrics you'll understand). Other ones that shows a deeper layer of her life are Star(my second favourite) and Unpretty Rapstar she did for a show she was in.
Some other songs that I like are what type of X and GUCCI, but her b sides tho!!! Please listen to year of the ox, arrived, and numb. They are SO GOOD 👩🏻🍳🤌✨✨✨✨
It would be great to have you react to SWF 2, where we have the international group Jam Republic, and there's also one of these with Hwasa, called chilli.

She's talking about her music, because she's many different flavors of rap,pop and r&b.
Fun Fact Jessi & Hwasa (Mamamoo) are in a seperate girlgroup. They also have a song & MV out
Thank you sm for reacting to queen Jessi!! She really is an amazing artist with such a sweet soul, I would recommend to check out funny moments of her to get to know her more if you want :)
If you have time, check out her earlier music. I love it so much!

Hello, I really love your reactions and have been following for a long time ❤
So happy to see you react to Jessi as she is one of my favourite and realest artists out there.
Es de un programa de bailarinas, deberías de verlo, está muy padre, entonces entenderás a unas verdaderas bailarinas!!

Lee Hyori is the girl in Jessi's NunuNana
Jessi literally said she wants to make a booty shaking song with chewing gum reference 😂 I don't think there is a deeper meaning to it.
Hope we get a part two ❤

Some other songs that I like are what type of X and GUCCI, but her b sides tho!!! Please listen to year of the ox, arrived, and numb. They are SO GOOD 👩🏻🍳🤌✨✨✨✨
She is Queen Lee Hyori.. My 1st girl crush..

It would be great to have you react to SWF 2, where we have the international group Jam Republic, and there's also one of these with Hwasa, called chilli.
