The only reason I started drinking ever, which was when I was almost 30, was because I was trying to date after a long-term relationship ended and people looked at me like I was crazy since I didn't have a reason not to drink. It seemed as if it would have been more socially acceptable if I had told people that I had several DUIs or some kind of alcohol-related crime or problem instead of just preferring not to drink
