- It's my FIRST EVER Pull Down and Pull Off vlog, which is from Hull Fair 2022!
In this video, I take a full walk around Walton Street Car Park in Hull the day after Hull Fairs last evening. Here we can see the extent of work from the early hours of the morning. I was also able to capture some movement of the pull down itself, including the removals of the Albert Evans Atmosphere Creator front ring. I was also able to capture plenty of action as the Showmen leave for their next location all over the UK!

My goodness, You know how this video could have been much improved.... nothing.. It was a delight. I love these kinds of vids seeing how rides are set up and taken down is fascinating. The engineering is amazing and so efficient. Keep up the good job. It's amazing also how the grounds suddenly look like the apocalypse happened once a few rides and stalls are gone and all the trash under them gets free to blow in the wind, lol.

As a kid i was always mesmerised by how quick travelling fairs would go up and how quickly they disappeared again, same with how they got such seemingly big rides onto a single truck trailer/box. Came across pull down and build up vids on youtube and still amazed by it. When people complain at prices etc they really should see what goes into, its some serious work goes in.
This is it... There's so much more than it being just a ride! It is crazy how quick they get the job done
So true Colette some days you would be working from say 11am and then last ride would be 7pm followed by an immediate pull-down and if it was windy and raining can you imagine how horrible it used to be absolute torture but all worth it because when it’s good it’s absolutely amazing ❤
Enjoyed this. Brought back memories of when my uncle lived down Walton Street in the 1970s/80s. His house was just on the corner of the street you were stood watch the lorries pull out. The houses down Walton Street were bigger than the ones now and one year he open his front room as a toy shop. Thank you so must.

I was sorry to see that the George pub on the corner of Walton Street and Spring Bank has been pulled down, they saved many of my goldfish won in the 60s when the water leaked out of the plastic bag it came in, the bar staff were always ready to save my goldfish. It was great to have a few drinks in there after visiting the fair. Happy days 😀👍

awesome video :) showing what work gets put in to keep all happy how you say about the litter normally what happens the ride staff will clean around there own rides as much as they can then when all vans staff are gone road sweepers come in and finish it off

I live in hull round the corner from here and i used to go early morning on the day after it closed go round the park where all caravans was and actually down walton street would always come back with 50 quid plus what ever other teddys and toys we found lol

Another amazing and emotional flashback to me and my late father at the fairgrounds, he used to love watching and photographing the pull-downs of the rides and exhibiters of fairgrounds and steam fairs. Like ive said previously, I want to send you a book on notts goose fair history and afew copies of some of the photos my late father took of fairs, pull downs and how they all transfromed through the i think 70s to the 2000s, it may not be soon and maybe in the new yer as im sorting throuvh the archive still. Also id rather bring them straigh to Higgits than post, idk when that will be right now.

Awesome Vlog of the pull down/Off Paul, really great to see some of these lovely trailers on the foldup scale of them. How about pick one the main fave rides & have a word with the lads if u can setup a camera & do a full time laps vid on the full build up.......

The spinning coaster is ex ice moutain and it used to run 12 cars at London and fantasy island

I believe a lot of them rides went to Ilkeston fair after Hull fair as a lot of them looked the same ones from there with the pictures what not, I’m only 15 minutes away from Ilkeston
Most towns have rubbish on the floor in the high Street

Hi PT awsome video i bet there was a lot of rides you did not see or ride it is strange to see you without Theo like you said he had football lestions or somthing byw the other ride that it similar to the Exciter is called the Tip Top wich is my top favorite ride i am hoping to ride it one day it is a neat ride

Darren Mathews owns the (no limit-Super Bowl-airmax-skyswing and the crazy mouse maybe he has sold the Super Bowl now not sure but he definitely owns the rest.
I used to travel with Wilson’s on there enterprise swapping to there waltzer in Tralee Ireland etc at the time they owned the superbowl (first one in uk at time) it used to come down in 4 hours if the weather was favourable and ready to move Elliot was the manager and driver of it
I miss those days really bad take care dude 34:38 that’s young Darren Mathews with his back to the camera he is awesome and one very clever young man ❤ he fell off the crazy mouse a couple of year ago in stoke and was airlifted to hospital (Google it) luckily he is ok now and hopefully will strap on when high in future
I’ve been a class1 HGV driver for 10 years, the turn wasn’t that bad. The smarter drivers turned to there left your right as there was more room on the pavement to miss the post. The living wagon after the fun house got his approach wrong and had to reverse and try again( we’ve all done that before). He used all the space available although asI know Hull,I would have gone left down analby road then out to the 63, it’s easier when in a truck rather than going out of Hull two junctions up. The lad in the baseball cap did well guiding his wagons out of the gate and was probably a driver himself. The atmosphere fear ride was driven on a heavy haulage certificate as I presume danters wagons were that’s why they were going slow as you can only go 40mph maximum on a motorway.
You asked for questions
Well I’ve asked around other drivers for many years how the showman are able to have an extra trailer on the back. You can’t reverse them if you get into a pickle, you would have to take off the back trailer than reattach it. Showman are exempt from normal rules only with a rigid truck pulling a living wagon and a trailer no more than 20 feet long. Does anyone know maybe PT vlogs can find out.
Some of the trucks look superb and some of them will have old manual gear boxes on them You have to double dip the clutch. Most artic tractor units are automatic these days, I can’t remember last time I drove a manual.
Keep more of these vlogs going I find them to be more interesting, hopefully someone can answer my question
I can honestly say that experience is key... Angles, timing, etc, you need it all! I love the 3 load trailers, image the amount of rev you need for that, and the frustration of hitting a queue on the motorway lol

We would of like to seen a big ride being pulled down from start to finish then u could of caught what u can on film after that, there's no point in showing us any rides when they're already pulled down and packed away then all we see is the lorry driving off.
Hard one, as most had been done the night before and others not doing it until later. I caught what I could, especially the ring from Atmosphere Creator 👍🏼
