It must be the small town Wayne county Ohio boy in me who had a garden for over 30 years that enjoys your vegetable shows so well. Most people don't know how much work it involves in producing tomatoes. Good show Jason.

Thanks, yes it is sooo much work, but very rewarding!

I've been investigating for the cheapest way to make nursery tables. I think I may have just found it. 👍🏻

It doesn’t get much easier and cheaper than the way I did it with the concrete blocks and a piece of fencing from the local farm store put on top. Hope it works out for you.

I noticed the tops of your rockwool cubes are green with algae. Doesn’t that take nutrients away from the plant? I was told to use block covers to stop algae and mold from growing.

Yes, I’ve heard the same thing in the past, but I have not ever wasted my time with block covers in the 22 years I’ve been doing this and have never had a problem. As soon as they’re planted into the bato buckets with perlite we put the dripper stakes into the buckets and the top of the cubes dry out and all the algae dies so it’s a non-factor at that point.

Great video! Are you heating on a double poly (plastic)? Or single?

Thank you, yes all 5 of our greenhouses are double poly. We used to have a half acre high tunnel that was just one layer of plastic but we sold it back in 2017.

Did I notice Vermiculite or another growing media on the Tomato plants in your basement? Also what is the watering schedule for the 4" cubes in the greenhouse? BTW Great Stuff

good observation...yes, that was vermiculite. We spread it across the top of the rockwool slab to fill the holes in after seeding, it helps the seed anchor itself to the slab better and have better "seed to soil" contact while it's germinating. Thanks!

Why such string lights for starting seedlings you are going to pay lots for electricity ...led grow lights at 8 inches above canopy and ya use about 100 watts instead of 2000
