This explains why singers like Lata Mangeshkar and Mohd Rafi were different from others. They use to sing emotionally as well as technically perfect, and that too in one take ie without cuts.
Because of Muslim singers and actors in Bollywood it become urduwood, They bluntly & intentionally use Persian language for rhythms it's only pathetic and absurd. Don't respect a language Hindi is a different language mixing Persian with it will end it's soul. There is Urdu language for that, if u like Urdu just say it's Urdu movie don't lie that it's Hindi. Because of so much Persian pollutants I stopped watching urduwood movies & dubbed movies. I love Bahubali dubbing because it used real Hindi language. Now South dubbing is also corrupted. Better watch foreign movies or series with pure English subtitles atleast.

@@Indian_Rajput that is how languages evolve… the Hindi which you call pure also came down from Prakrit tree of languages… I will go further on to say Hindi is the one cannibalising local languages like khadi Boli, avadhi, maithili,… those are not Hindi but still they have been told to speak Hindi more and those languages are going extinct now.

Let me clear one misconception going around. It's not that old singers used to sound perfect without autotune. Arijit had said earlier that the takes kept for our old singers can be the ones which today's singers can also give but on top of that autotune is added slightly. So basically if you measure at each note, even the legends used to go out of tune at places. So noone was singing it perfectly

I have learnt, practiced and performed classical for more than a decade, and learnt from the likes of pandit varun kumar pal, a disciple of pt. ravi shankar, pandit anup mishra, nephew of pandit rajan sajan mishra ji, and pt. manish chandra, who is a gurubhai of hariharan. Let me tell you, the more i listen to Lata ji, the more I come to know what i cant even fathom about her prowess as a singer. I have literally fished to find an off note in her singing, but there are none. So as far as that is concerned, do not even think about puttig her other and these singers, though they are also great, in the same statement, for they themselves would not dare to do so.

What Arijit is saying that comcposers like Pritam tune the human takes a little to sound more beautiful. If you notice Arijit's songs sung by Mithoon (like Dil jhoom), Mithoon has kept raw takes of Arijit there where you can see his breaking voice too which actually sounds beautiful in itself. So it's not that these singers can't sing without autotune, but that autotune is just getting added today as an extra layer to fine tune a little

singers nowadays also dont rely on autotune to sound melodious lil bro. Also no human has the ability to ALWAYS remain 100% on tune. There are always imperfections if u listen to the raw vocals of any singer. even tho alot of times these imperfections dont make a huge difference they are still present which is why autotune is used

Those songs sounds a bit rough because it used to be recorded live, but now there's a lot of technology it makes the tunes so clean and smooth. Autotune is one of the effects that's being used to make it better we have a better quality. Autotune won't make you better singer, just like the bhojpuri ones that hear. Glad that someone of Arijit's stature came out and said this. Autotune is necessary in modern music and enhances it, it is not a bad thing.
He is right but on top of that its more to do with frequency spectrum getting narrower now a days . As we are using more of software sounds and pre recorded samples which are so fine tuned that a human voice cannot match that. So its important to tune the voice with those electronic pitch perfect sounds.

PEOPLE STILL NEEDS TO KNOW WTF AUTOTUNE IS. There's nothing wrong with using presets, it's almost as natural. But as a listener people wants to hear the perfectly blended quality of voice and all the instrumentals going on behind. Autotune is good, it's like a tool as arijit said, it soothes out the rawness and tune it a little more melodically. A lot musicians uses it extra which makes the emotions conveyed are drained and died out with song. Basically, have to use it with precisions and very smartly.

People need to understand the difference between auto tuning and processing of vocals. As Mr Rahman himself said for Shreya Ghoshal that "why would anyone put auto tune on her voice"
Auto tune is used for pitch correction and any rigorously trained singer is unlike to go off pitch. Obviously to make vocals sound different some processing is done.
For instance, in ishq hua from Aaja nachle film, Shreya's vocals were processed to make them husky.
One song that I think has no processing at all is Kashmir which has just SG's raw vocals
But I have heard shreya ghoshal live, her voice sounds exactly like the recorded one in real life as well . From party song like slow motion and soft songs like tere hawaale it's her original voice , there's is no autotune . U can hear live performances of both the songs

Not fully agreed. The power of words cannot be compared with anything in music. Listen to meaningful poetries, or any master singer without singing without any music instrument. You will get goosebumps, it's because of the lyrics, meaning and then the emotions with which the singer delivers it. On top of that, of the music is also crisp then it's a cherry on top of cake. A great composition is culmination of all these things, not only singing or music.

They all sound same as there is no experimenting with different sounds, keys, scales, modes, raagas, or rhythms. They are concealing high pitched auto-tuned vocals with low pitched bass. None of these singers can do a solo or an alaap without accompaniment of instruments. They would not have survived the rigors of Shankar Jaikishan, OP Nayyar, Madan Mohan, or Naushad.

one is what I already said earlier, to enhance the quality, offcourse good singers can easily pull off the quality but with autotune they can add a little flavour to it

todays composers do not make music according to lyrics or lyricist do not make music according to music i have seen . People singing rock on sad lyrics seems so out of sync . everything is rock pop and hiphop . western influenced music . I think our music has so many ways of expressing emotions in a single indian classical piece you can hear 2-3 emotions like ghanaan song . Music itself is a journey starting from requesting to rejoice . that story is getting killed now .
Okay now i am bit confused about the thing is that the different voice textures that we listen to Arijit Singh songs...does it comes from those autotuner or technology then? He is said to be very versatile because of the varities of texture. Then does he do it by the help of autotune then? He may put the feel by himself cz i don't think any technology can produce that much authentic feeling of a song. But Arijit himself is saying when you try to put correct emotion you tend not to be in perfect tune (except Sonu Nigam).

She has got good vibrato, but rarely sings in tune.
Also singing in studio to record a song is much easier than singing same song live. You can have mutiple takes and use autotune, edit and refine the song.
Even Arjit Singh loses tune many times singing live.Casual listeners might not notice.But any good musician can.
Also mind it that usually in award shows, and nowadays in many live concerts, singers usually lip sync to pre recorded songs.

I think Brut India needs autotune more than music industry. Itna ganda mic kaha se laate ho bhai, audio gain, wind blowing, bass boost , everything is amped up beyond human frequencies. Kaan se khoon aa gaya.

No, there is no need of any software to correct nodes and pitches. It requires only practice, practice and practice but these Bollywood singers don't want to do riyaz enough, they just want fame, money etc. If anyone has any doubt about what I am saying, kindly go and sit in any reputed classical singer's mehfil and you will get all the illusions clear.
