There’s something so charming about this version of the game because you can really tell they tried their best to make it sound and play like the original.
Sounds and looks better than the original, IMO. I have some nostalgia for the demo of the original, but actually owning the DS version proved its superiority

I now have this game on Xbox 360 (the best looking), Windows 10 (the best gameplay), and Nintendo DS (the best sounding). Each version is a materpiece. Edit: I just realized, at some point, I'm gonna completely abandon this game because of life stuff, and I'll find it again in around 10-15 years, and just be crushed by the nostalgia. That can't happen to me now, I'm only 14, but still.
Im going to be 23 this April, and I grew up playing this game when it very first released back in 2009. I was only like 10 years old at the time. I even remember when they changed the Dancing Zombie after MJ passed away. Cherish these days, because some day youll wake up and adulthood, responsibilities, and life in general will slap you in the face with reality. Its almost impossible to fathom that i first played this game well over ten years ago. No matter how stressful life gets these days, I can always revisit this game and its soundtrack and feel like I’m 10 years old again.
I really love this version of watery graves as it feels much more og compared to the others especially when it's only horde as it's my favorite :) Fun fact that the giga gargantuar's red eyes are lighter than the rest of versions , oh and when appearing they stand-moving on the first steps then walking normally for whatever reason XD

Wait how, I've played all versions and own only 2 (DS and Mobile phone) I love the PC and console versions too. Of course every version had some exclusive to them such as a mini game or zombie. The hoard theme changing when a flag zombie appears was a nice touch on pc and console but is lacking on mobile and doesn't have wisdom tree. DS had just the hoard theme and exclusive mini games using the touchscreen and even the wisdom tree. I don't remember what exclusives the other versions have.
Hey, the DS version is not half bad! I like it. I still prefer the other versions because I love the atmospheric feeling in them. But the DS version gets the job done. It sounds funky.
DS version was the first I played, I didn't even notice the music switch when I played on my iPad because I was so surprised about the better graphics.

I think they just copied over the songs from the original mo3 file, which had the horde theme, and changed the samples. The game would mute some channels for the normal theme, but the DS version doesn't do this so it's always the horde theme.

What really puts the DS version of this song over the original version are the chords in the background at 1:24 that are missing in the original and make the part sound boring

Ds version is my favorite older version seem compressed after hearing them now... but... this just embraces the compressed chip tune. And slightly more upbeat it seems.

I think the musical variation on DS is weird. Games like gen 5 of Pokémon use a sound font, New Super Mario Bros is like muffled I think, Fossil Fighters and it’s sequel have really clear music, and this is like chiptune or something. Why is their so little consistency?! Like is it not limitations?! Like I would assume it’s limitations but the Fossil Fighters games and Scribblenauts have crushed that notion for me. Why am I getting so worked up about this?!

When I best heat wave I was in a car and didn't really get to cheer on my plants because the car hum just kept motivating my plants.

It was pretty easy for me. The trick is to not trigger the boost right away. Only weakened peashooters get boosted.
