He's absolutely right. Literally all the talk has been about United being poor rather than actually acknowledging the fact that Palace were superb last night. As for United's makeshift defence, Palace had Holding and Guehi injured meaning Richards had to come in, with a right back in Clyne also playing CB until Guehi finally came on. Last season's player of the year (Doucouré) out all season and Lerma also currently out, and yet the third choice defensive mid Will Hughes ran the Red Devils absolutely ragged. Nothing but excuses, and it's about time the media started giving praise where it's due.
It's the same every time a big club is beat by a smaller team. Case in point, when Fulham beat MU 2-1 at Old Trafford, it was a case of MU being not good enough, rather than Fulham playing great.
usually I'd agree with his take. but that manutd side wasn't even a team. palace should take nothing away from that game besides the 3 points. probably their easiest game all season.

Against a poor Liverpool side (0-1, one of the goals of the season), against a poor West Ham side (5-2, should've been 8), against a poor Newcastle side (2-0, shoul've been 5), against a poor Fulham side (1-1, should've been 4), one of the goals of the season), against a poor Man Utd side (4-0, should've been 6). Still had our best keeper, best CB and best DCM out. Put some effing respect on that.
Yup as a Newcastle fan always seems to be when we batter teams they always never turn up or they had an off day never give enough credit,palace have been great recently including when they battered us 2.0 was a flattering score imo

What Simon didn’t mention regarding the Andy Johnson thing was back then palace were a struggling small club with no money, rubbish facilities and were nailed on for relegation. Now they have money, been in the top flight for ten years, with a category 1 acadamy, fantastic facilities and a much much better squad that with the right management can achieve something Simon could only dream of during his time there.
It would have been a headline if the result had been a shock.

We Palace fans are hoping [ probably in vain 😞 ] that the entire squad can be persuaded to stay together for one more campaign and have a real crack at European qualification next season. Suddenly a lot of stars have aligned for us ; Oliseh &Eze bedazzle yet also finish powerfully ; Guehi & Andersen have been class defenders for several years now ; Doucoure , Lerma , Huges & Wharton give us depth and quality in central midfield ; Clyne & Richards look born to play in a back three ; Munoz & Mitchell are growing into their wing-back roles with each passing game and Mateta has , since the turn of the year , miraculously transformed into a genuine top class 9. Old warhorses like Ayew, Ward & Schlupp can still contribute and , to top it all , we have an adventurous [ but pragmatic ] coach who seems to be galvanising individuals and the collective alike. For a club like Palace these circumstances arise maybe once a generation at best - let's try and rebuff the offers this summer please 🙂

Seeing Newcastle last season and Villa this season (Villa fan here) I wouldn't be shocked or surprised to see Palace have a season similar
I'm a Man Utd fan, been watching them since the 90's, and this by far is the worst Man Utd squad, EVER, Crystal Palace deserve every ounce of credit, for hammering Man Utd last night, Palace played great, didn't have much possession, but it's not about the possession you have, it's about what you do WHEN you have that possession, and they deserved the win. Man Utd are going to get smashed by Arsenal and Newcastle, Brighton will also beat Man Utd. There are only a handful of players that deserve to be in that Man Utd squad, Martinez, Mainoo, Dallot, Fernandes, Garnacho, Hojlund, everyone else should be sold, maybe keep shaw too, when he is fully fit, he's good.

The reason why some think it's a boring league is because media and vloggers want to talk about the supposed top teams, avoiding giving credit to many other teams in the premier league - there has been some great performances, Palace, Bournemouth, Wolves - media can't help themselves from jizzing over top clubs whether they are being successful or in mess.

Predictably when a “big club” loses to a “smaller club” the MSM focus their attention on what went wrong for the “big club”. After all, they’re not supposed to lose, that’s not in the script. Palace have changed out of all recognition since Glasner arrived and deserve massive credit for that. The “what went wrong” attitude was also evident after the Coventry v Man Utd FA Cup Semi Final when the story should’ve been about how well Coventry played. I doubt the “big v little” post match analysis will ever change.

Not a bad call that. Newcastle won't feel they played well , but they restricted us to fairly few clear-cut chances and were an occasional , but very real , threat themselves. In short , they didn't throw the towel in like United last night. Yes , they were probably 6 players short of their optimum eleven but when you see the price tags and wages of the "replacements" it's no excuse for such a limp display.
