@@ravscape definitely on the list 👍🏻
There's also an amazing aquarium in Sevilla, Spain. Went there earlier this year and was happily surprised by the quality and the high level of maintenance. They have a number of large sweetwater tanks, saltwater tanks and a mangrove ecosystem. Highly recommended.
Can't place a picture here....but can mail it👍
Definitely Brazil, Luca Galarraga store, Aquabase, and the tetras region.
The first time I saw Florestas Submersas it was about 20 minutes before closing and it was completely empty. The fantastic music started its loop just as I entered and it was pure magic. Completely teared up. Definitely the thing that got me into aquariums and aquascaping.
Man 20 minutes is the amount of time i spent at the first 3 metres of the tank
I'm from Lisbon, and I'm lucky to be able to visit very often, i try to do a visit at least once every year, and I can totally confirm that in the last 3/4 years the lights have been reduced drastically, and the plants have suffered from that... but it is still amazing, totally worth visiting, Just sit down, listen to those relaxing sounds and enjoy. Truly Magnificent
I've already enjoyed this work by Takashi Amano twice. And probably the third time.
I'm so glad you were able to see it in person. I will probably never be able to travel that far, but it is great to see it in videos.
Maybe one day!
So proud of my country 🇵🇹 I wish that more aquariums like this one exist around the world, it's amazing to watch. I really like your channel, you are amazing.
That’s amazing Mark, you’re very lucky to get the opportunity to visit. It’s a dream of mine.
Hope you will manage one day!
At 7:04. At 8 years after it was built, YOU look absolutely incredible! ♥
I live in portugal and went to the oceanário around the time covid hit, the last week before everything closed and saw florestas submersas when it was completly empty.
It was such an awesome experience, that it immediately inpired me to get into the aquascaping hobby. Rui Alves actually made my first aquascape tank 🙂
If you get the chance to visit lisbon take a trip to the oceanário, not only for florestas but the entire thing is amazing.
I agree, the whole place is amazing. They have an awesome collection of fishes and other life in some beautiful setups.
You deserve to see this in person
. One day.. hopefully...I can see this in person. I think I would break down in tears.
It's hard not to get choked up, especially with the music that's so beautifully written.
Visiting this exhibition in around 2016 blew my mind and was the reason I took up this hobby of aquascaping. Still to this day I have never seen anything that has given me as much awe. Truly inspiring and also a meditative experience when there. I also ended up in there at the end of the day and pretty much had it for myself. Spent at least an hour just in that one room
Would love to see this Aquarium oneday, thanks for showcasing this for us.
I went to Florestas Submersas a month ago and absolutely loved it! The first impression as I entered the room was pretty overhelming.. the pure beauty of the aquarium, combining with the suiting music was pretty emotional and made me teared up.. it was something that i didn´t expect, butIi see that wasn´t the only person with this reaction. Thank you for sharing this aquarium! :)
Absolutely fantastic....went there 3 years ago and it was (and still is) the most beautiful sweetwater aquarium ever.
Great vedio wow...under water world is so beautiful. 🔥💚😍
Thanks, MJ absolutely stunning. I can not even imagine what it takes cost and man power to maintain this hugh eco system. Loved it.
Haven't been there but now its a 'must'.Some if my favorite Aquascapers there. Thanks MJ
love all your videos mj, btw can you do a simple marine tank scape, i really like to start a low tech one but its hard to find, tho more like almost non-existent "lets build video" on YT of those kinda tank.
What a fantastic place just stunning thank you for showing this❤
Amazing….thanks MJ
Thanks for sharing. You're very lucky to see that. It will stay in your heart ans your mind for a long time.
Thanks for sharing, awesome video!
I was in Lisboa at least 50 times and I never visited it. Shame on me. Cheers MJ
Time for #51 😎
@@MJAquascaping maybe one day I will....
BEAUTIFUL ❤
Thank you for sharing such an amazing experience.
This tank is so awesome I would love to go see it when I am in Europe next.
Wow absolutely incredible! 💯
Bedankt voor je aanstekelijke enthousiasme MJ. Ik blijf je al een tijd met veel plezier volgen 😁👍 cheers
beautiful!! wish I was there in person
Thanks for the tour MJ. I've been there twice, really amazing place, both Takashi Amano's scape and the marine aquariums beyond. The restaurant is great too! I do hope they continue to keep the aquascape going if possible.
Absolutely agree, definitely worth a visit. We visited Lisbon last October and went in the late afternoon and we were also almost completely by ourselves. We spent a couple of hours, were stunned at how beautiful and peaceful it was and got some inspiration for future aquascapes. The left side could definitely use an overhaul and the number of fish species was a bit underwhelming but truly, considering it was not meant to last this long, it has held up remarkably well. I think that is testament to the constant upkeep by the staff. An unforgettable experience for any aquascaper if they are lucky enough to be able to visit. Thank you, great video!
I'm so glad you were able to check this as done on your bucket list. Thanks for taking us with you.
Here is another worth while visit : Aquatis aquarium in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is one of, if not the biggest fresh water aquariums in Europe. Well worth the visit.
That is so amazing! Wonderful story, thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing these high quality footage. Definitely you made the best video about the florestas submersas on the internet. Those small details, the narration makes me feel more connected with the place...I wished the video kept going on for longer and didnt end. That place is simply awesome
This video very nice and very interesting 😍😍😍
This aquarium is on my bucket lists
Schitterend aquarium Mark-Jan ik ben er ook geweest en hebt er met volle teugen genoten. Leuk om het nog eens terug te zien met jouw uitleg erbij.
Absolutely fantastic!
Awsome video, thanks MJ. I've been there a couple of times and the whole site is just incredible.
Wonderfull ! My dream is to go to ADA Tokyo. Japan + Aquascaping = wow ! Maybe next year, fingers crossed.
Goede avond!
Beautiful aquarium, although I read it has been deteriorating since (less lighting / maintenance?) Why these people did not let you take a view backstage is, well, suspicious to say the least.
Never the less, I hope you enjoyed your stay in Lisbon (my city of birth).
Thank you for the video!
On my bucketlist
Absolutely gorgeous
GratCongratulations! One on the wish list. Great adventure. 😍
Nice documentation 👍🏻
Truly breathtaking, thanks MJ!
I've been there just 3 months before it was supposed to be dismantled, it was quite an experience, I was amazed and sad for the future of it, now I got the knowledge that it still working, if I was the owner I'd invest in maintaining this unique art work.
I remember going here when I was really young but now that I’m in the fish keeping hobby I want to go back
In my BUCKET List ❤❤...... thanks a ton for sharing it.
I was there it was so beautiful
Most of my life I'd had nighttime dreams about having an aquarium large enough to swim around in. I'm probably not the only aquarist to have those kinds of dreams.
That's incredible!
Cool video🎉
My jaw dropped when I went, such an amazing experience
That's going on the to do list in Europe!
lindo demais parabens um ótimo Video !!!!!
On my recent trip to Portugal, it was a complete accident happening to find this incredible aquascape, and I’m very grateful I got to see it while I was there
Nice work my friend
So awesome and definitely a scapers bucket list item! Thanks for sharing mate! To bad they didn’t let you in the back 😂 would’ve been cool seeing the equipment that runs it! I’m curious if it uses co2 and how much?
Absolutely stunning! I'm wondering about the filtration lol! Do they have a massive sump in the back?
I’m so desperate to go and see this! Think it’ll be my next trip!
Portugal via Amsterdam!

Amazing
Stunningly Beautiful! Worth a Visit -Definitely!🐚°.•🐠..all hail the late great Takashi Amano, ADA!
@MJAquascaping Indeed this aquarium is amazing! I’m happy it is on my home country so I can go and visit it often! I coming back to the hobby and I have some doubts. It is a basic question but I have searched but don’t seam to find the accurate answer for it maybe you can help: on a new setup should I fill in the tank first and allow it to cycle a bit with the water conditioner before planting or can I plant straight away on the humid tap water soil like you suggest and then fill in the tank right after and only after this add the conditioner and let it cycle already with the plants? And question number 2 is what is a good gap of GH (hardness) levels for most plants? Let me know! Thank you in advance!
This should be my living room ;)
watching your video I was getting a little nervous... after the explosion of a very big aquarium tank a few months ago here in Berlin. It was just in the center of the city, in the Radisson hotel's hall. Almost a public square, with restaurants and bars. From each hotel room you had a window showing the view to the tank... and an elevator was running *inside* it. It was crazy. I visited it a couple of times. Well, it was just reboosted and restored by a team from USA, specialized in big aquariums.. but it seems in USA they don't have such low temperatures as we have here. During the first very cold night after the redoing of the tank, the acrilic broke, and thousand of fishes were projected all over the hall, even on the street, suddently freezing to death. The main street was closed for days because the thick ice was dangerous for cars, bikes and people to walk on. They saved some hundred of exemplars because they were on the lower part of the broken tank, or in separated rooms for reproduction or quarantine. The hotel said they will never install something similar again.
Superb
I’ve watched the build of the tank at least 10 times 5:46
Unfortunately for me I wen't to Lisbon 1 year before it opened and no plants on going back but ill see it through vids like this I suppose, then again not really my type of tank(prefer biotope style aquariums/blackwater/river tanks etc). Hope you had a good time in general.
Well, looks like I’m booking a flight to Lisbon now haha
Super 👍
Wooow beatufuil
Daichi Araki (ADA Suikei Creator) at one point was doing maintenance on it. I wonder if its going "downhill" has anything to do with him no longer being involved?
My kind of heaven ❤
The last creature of aquascape master
25 euros entrance?😮...... you must be joking. No way.
What a shame "Constable Fun Police" wouldn't give you a sneaky peak behind the scenes ... Imagine the amount of Seachem Matrix their HOB's have been pimped out with?!! 🤪
It's too bad that most aquariums don't do this. This is just beautiful and educational.
Long way from Texas. Gonna have to go anyways haha.
How were the sizes of the fish? I remember Artis had giant Tiger Barbs because of the big size of the tanks they were in. Thank you for the vid, I wish there were more freshwater aquariums around to visit. Lisbon and Valencia are already on my list and Sevilla was cool too.
Yeah there were lots of chunky fish 😬 especially the Congo tetras and Torpedo barbs
Its incredibly understocked.
love your videos, greetings from germany! :)
Glad you like them!
that plant quality is 10x better than my tanks lol
Kind of sad they couldn't give you a behind the scenes look :( maybe you can try reaching out again and schedule something in advance? 🤔
i cried like a baby when i visited
how do you maintain that?
Do these tank have bracing?
I think a tank that size would do in a pinch. Ideally I'd like mine to be a bit bigger than that, but we can't have everything now, can we? Somehow I'll find a way to make do with a single 10 gallon aquarium, and I'll wish I had the money just to go see that giant tank.
One day i will be there.
awesome..
i wonder how do these huge tanks get Co2 ..all natural from atmoshphere and fish?
They are injecting as well, but no idea how
Wow
The fertilizer routine and the maintenance must be very complicated. On the other hand, the substrate must be weakening. That's why i think they would only have it running for 2 years
That's why the plants doesn't look like the first year i guess. But I think it's great that it continues running and allow us to visit this great aquarium!
That will take days for me to clean lol
I liked the oceanario more than the shedd aquarium
this is glass or acralic?
acrylic :)
you look like Jaqen H'ghar from Game of Thrones
didnt find the amano rock ? i remember he sign on a rock
Really? I did not know that
