One of the best Celtic orientated discussions I’ve seen, wonderful memories described by Bernard and Tommy, great to hear how Asim’s dad felt welcomed by Celtic fans and the legacy of that being more diehard Celtic fans✊🏻
Bernard is a big gentleman and I used to see him at Mass at St Mary's in Coatbridge on a Sunday, he's always been a big Celtic man and I hope he has a long and happy retirement and may God bless him HH
I was born into a rangers orientated family from Govan but when I married my wife in 72 I was introduced to the Celtic family and never looked back Thank god HH 🍀🍀🍀
@@mogmacphee7595 shut your mouth we don’t need bigots like you Celtic are a multi cultural multi religious club who welcome all So if you think I’m a turncoat and not a real supporter then honestly you need to sit and think about what the club is about. Fantastic show. One of Scotlands best political journalist by far. I really enjoyed listening to Bernard on his love for Celtic, couple this with the no nonsense Tommy Sheridan (superb) and finally the great and always logical Asim Rabbani 👏👏
This brought back memories of the Real Madrid game back then I’m sure that was the game where I seen Laurie Cunningham play and was mesmerised by the way he took corners I tried hitting a corner like that for hours good memories 🍀🍀🍀
Fabulous heart warming discussion. Still got a reply from comrade Tommy to a letter of support I sent him during his stay at Saughton. Such respect for Bernard even though he and Ruth Wishart blanked my offer of a big issue outside Deacon Brodies Tavern when the parly was sitting at the C of S. No grudges held.
An interesting listen. I listened to Graham spiers interview Bernard on his platform a few weeks back. A thoroughly knowledgeable chap. I often feel had we beat feyenoord in 1970 to win the EC for a second time that would have put us in the pantheon of the true greats. I think I remember reading by about 1976 or 77 the belief had set in that we were never gonna win it again. Up till then it was a distinct possibility.
Another fantastic show 👏🏼..I used to enjoy a beer in the Welcome Inn after the games at Paradise and had the privilege of speaking to Bernard on numerous occasions great guy and as you see he loves The Hoops..these interviews are getting better every week..massive Congratulations to Paul John ,Tommy and Asim and all the ACSOM Team HH 🍀
I worked in the refurbishment of Celtic Park during the Fergus era and when it was nearly completed, shamefully, I stole a few of the caricatures from the wall (sorry Fergus). Anyway, going to my car I had the Danny McGrain caricature in its frame, but I had the rawlplugs sticking out of the back of the 'hot' frame. So, I saw Danny in the car park and asked him to sign his caricature and desperately trying to hide the rawlplugs, he asked where I got the frame from, and I said I bought them (I am sure he never believed me!). Thanks, Danny - always my No1 Celtic player.
At a game against Hamilton at Paradise 8-3 was the score if my memory serves me correct. Deep into the game the ball went out for a shy at the jungle end & Danny came over to take it when a shout came from the jungle c’mon Danny from a young man & I can’t remember if it was before he took the shy or immediately after he turned round to the youth & said with humility I’m fucked & the jungle roared. I can still see it in my mind’s eye today a very fond memory for me . Thanks for sharing.
@@georget1050 I remember Danny starting to get the grey whiskers in his beard and it affected me as I knew his time was limited and nearing an end. I have never felt that about another player since then, even Larsson.
Used to see the Bould Bernard regularly in the old Wellcome Inn in the Calton during the 1990's. Bernard’s best moment was when he totally crushed smeato when he tried to get into the political scene. Big man wasn’t having it and made a total fool of him😂 Bernard knew what he was doing, it was brilliant .
Wasn't Tommy a Rangers fan who once thought both Celtic and Rangers were 2 sides of the same coin? Maybe we should ask Billy Davies that. Anyway, we used to see Bernard in Bairds occassionally. I always remember him belting out 'Irish Soldier Laddie' in that big booming voice of his.👍
