When using a duffel bag for your snacks and souvenirs, how does this hold up to being loaded and transported with check in? I am questioning because I had a cover on my Monos Hybrid that was filthy, scratched and had a hole abraded and that was from Haneda to LAX (Just dirty and scratched LAX to Haneda). I would like to travel lighter for my next trip. Thanks!
I got the toiletry bag! Can’t wait to use it at the end of the month! Do you think you’d be able to share a link for the duffle bag? Planning to go to Japan (for the first time woohoo!!!) and would love a bag that’s packable & to bring back stuff!

@@carinelammam5112 late April early May! It was great weather! The clothing I brought was perfect! I was neither too hot or too cold :) My other packing Japan video was early March. It was cold! So I brought more layers! So I had filled some of my check in bag :) and left the rest of the space for souveniers :)
@@buildyourmoxie thanks! I’m going March 14-29. Did you use all your sweaters and was the trench warm enough or did you have to use your other coat? What kind of shoes do you bring? I’m thinking a couple long sleeves and some short sleeves for layers and slacks not sure if I need more with a trench
How many pounds (or kgs) did that weigh including the bag? We are limited to 7kg (15.4 pounds) for carry on out of Australia. Would you change anything for late winter?
Hi! For my carry on only video, everything weighed 22 pounds. Japan airlines let us do 22 pounds. What i would do is move all heavy items to personal item or wear it and then put it back in after you pass weigh station :) For winter, I’m going to be testing it out soon :) Going to Japan again late December! I will see if i can do it!! I’m totally not a light packer so i was really proud of myself in this video haha. It made the traveling SOOO good cuz we were incredibly mobile!
Great video! Thank you! Do you know if Midol is allowed in Japan? I googled it but can’t find any conclusive info. If you’re not sure, what do you use to check if a medication is allowed?
Midol should be fine! It doesn’t contain codeine or pseudoephedrine Midol Product Details: Relieves period cramps, bloating, temporary water-weight gain, muscle ache, backache and headache. Contains extra strength acetaminophen (a pain reliever), as well as caffeine (a diuretic) and pyrilamine maleate (an antihistamine) to fight multiple period symptoms. Ooo trench coat is probably too hot from June-September :) Hehe I did not get the monos backpack but I’ve been eyeing it!! 👀 (I did a beis travel backpack video! But my monos review video should be coming out in the next couple weeks!)
This may be a dumb question, but how did you get your souvenir bag back home? Did you have to check it in before flight? Was it a personal item? Sorry new to flying/traveling so I’m not sure about the whole flying process.
I checked it in on the way home :) I did 90% of the trip as carry on only cuz we were moving all over Japan and wanted to be mobile! And then the last couple days in Shibuya, we did all our shopping. And then we put the stuff in our big duffle bags and departed from Tokyo with carry on and a checked bag/souveniers 😃
Which airline did you fly with and what was the weight of your carry on? I'm going to Japan at the end of Sept, flying with Singapore Airlines and can take 7kg carry on. I'll probably end up taking a back pack because my Delsey carry on is probably too heavy😅
Japan air. 23 pounds but they allow 22 pounds. They didn’t weigh it cuz I just went straight to security cuz I had mobile boarding pass. Sometimes I visit the kiosk too to get a paper boarding pass 😁 Singapore air is hit or miss with weighing your carry on bag. If possible try to not even visit the counter and you will be okay and they won’t weigh you. Go to kiosk and print boarding pass if possible! They allow a personal item though so maybe put all your heavy stuff in your backpack and use that as personal item. And then you can still bring your carry on :) I’ve done Singapore air 4 times now. I really like them minus their whole 15 pound carry on thing lol
When u prepare so much for souvenirs until 30 pounds. How do we carry it to our country.. will the airport okay eith us carrying that full and big souvenir bag? Or do we need to pay more
Did you fly Japan Airlines? I ask because I have been STRESSING about the luggage size and weight for JAL's carryon rules. The tote you linked is a touch bigger than the personal item allowance but it is similar to the bag I want to use, so I am wondering if you have had any issues on the tote size
The weight of that luggage alone takes up more than half of my carryon weight allowance, leaving me only 3kgs of my 7kg weight for my stuff. Let's hope none of your viewers have the misfortune to travel on airlines who weigh cabin luggage or they'll be in for an expensive shock.
Totally agree. I watch these videos and laugh…from Australia there’s a total carryon weight of 7kg. Travelling internationally, I’ve always had to check in my bag, even when though it is technically a carryon suitcase size.
Yes! I love traveling with my green trenchcoat from Uniqlo in Japan! It was equivalent to around $100 USD! I wear it in this video :) ua-cam.com/video/nLcfOFl6oNU/v-deo.htmlsi=Mpk7JqnBY9oghAYo

I’ve used satin pillowcases for years and I bought a silk one once but it never held up despite following the laundering instructions. Are the silk pillowcases actually better than satin??
I would say satin is good too if you get a good one. The silk one I got here I like because it doesn’t snag. For some reason I can’t keep my satin ones nice 😂 Looks like you and I are opposite twins! This is the one I like. I’ve tried other silk ones but they discolor if I have product in my hair or on my face: amzn.to/3KeWC0H
Those tops are great for people with small to almost no boobs😂. How did you get that hugh bag of snacks on the plane: checked, carry- on or personal under the seat or had to pay extra for additional luggage?
@@sourcow56 Japan air 🤫 The trick is to not go to the counter if you don’t need to 😉. Just get ur mobile boarding pass. Or go to kiosk. But sometimes when I’m in Japan it still makes me go to counter. But just keep your carry on close to you and try to look small 😝 Singapore air will weigh your carry on 50% of the time.😝
I don’t like using my phone battery or my data/wifi to play for hours 😁. Cuz sometimes the wall sockets aren’t that great depending on where you go so I save my phone juice and battery pack if possible. I have the calm app and headspace and I download the white noise. But it still drains my battery 🤗 Some people don’t need white noise so they wouldn’t need to bother. But my hubs and I are big big white noise people so we feel it necessary even tho it takes up space! But if we didn’t have space I would use it as a “keychain” Off of my personal item which would be fine 😁
You're making miss Japan 🥹 FYI..the only thing is at the airport [Kansai] while flying to korea ㅜㅜ i had a lemon tea syrup thingy that was 100ml but the security guard confiscate it stating its not the liquid they look at only but the actual size of the container which looked a tad bigger ㅜㅜ i was going to give it to my mom as a gift so i was crushed ㅜㅜ

But i did some searching around and if i were to buy my own again, i would go with Gonex duffle bag. Because i use their compression bags and they are amazing. It comes in multiple sizes! I would get the biggest one you can get and then check it in for the flight home. This one you can drag it all over the floor and it wont rip. amzn.to/4eNiixG

a question, do I need to pack bug repellent ? do you see mosquitos even in rural area in summer time?
Yes! In rural areas there are mosquitos. But i dont like deet. Picaridin is SO much better. I use this whenever i travel anywhere humid or whenever there are mosquitos. Barbados, Kenya, Thailand, Hawaii, Japan, etc. This is amazing :) Been using for over 5 years now. amzn.to/4fFQYmD
😍yay!! You are going to have so much fun!!!
I’m happy you have the toiletry bag! Mine is I think over 2 years old now and it’s still looking so good!
The duffle bag is actually my husbands football bag from high school 😝.
But! I did find one that is very big and got excellent reviews. People use it for their sports gear and it comes with a strap! This is what I would get if ours died

amzn.to/3KfBkQE
This one looks good too and it’s extra large size! Doesn’t look as big as the other one but it’s half the price and good reviews! You can get the bigger size though it looks!
Oh em … you’re so good! This will give me enough time to get it before the trip! Thanks so much! I’ll check them out! Hope it outlives the HS bag :P
what month was your trip for this packing video and how was the weather while your were there?
@@carinelammam5112 late April early May! It was great weather! The clothing I brought was perfect! I was neither too hot or too cold :)
My other packing Japan video was early March.

What brand is that souvenirs bag? So cute and perfect for all the Japanese goodies
What i would do is move all heavy items to personal item or wear it and then put it back in after you pass weigh station :)
For winter, I’m going to be testing it out soon :) Going to Japan again late December!
It doesn’t contain codeine or pseudoephedrine
Midol Product Details: Relieves period cramps, bloating, temporary water-weight gain, muscle ache, backache and headache. Contains extra strength acetaminophen (a pain reliever), as well as caffeine (a diuretic) and pyrilamine maleate (an antihistamine) to fight multiple period symptoms.

What airlines do you recommend to travel to Japan?
I love Japan airlines cuz they don’t weigh my carry on 😁. And they are so professional and kind! Seats are comfy too!
im moving to tokyo for a year to study abroad. i wanna pack light enough to have plenty of space for everything i’ll bring back, but also bring enough so that im not missing anything important and waste money buying things i could have just brought. any tips?
I believe I learned about Monos from you and recently purchased their backpack. Also is a trench coat too much for the temps in Japan?
Ooo trench coat is probably too hot from June-September :)
Hehe I did not get the monos backpack but I’ve been eyeing it!! 👀
(I did a beis travel backpack video! But my monos review video should be coming out in the next couple weeks!)
This may be a dumb question, but how did you get your souvenir bag back home? Did you have to check it in before flight? Was it a personal item? Sorry new to flying/traveling so I’m not sure about the whole flying process.
I checked it in on the way home :)
I did 90% of the trip as carry on only cuz we were moving all over Japan and wanted to be mobile!
And then the last couple days in Shibuya, we did all our shopping. And then we put the stuff in our big duffle bags and departed from Tokyo with carry on and a checked bag/souveniers
😃
@@buildyourmoxie thank you!!!
Sometimes I visit the kiosk too to get a paper boarding pass 😁
Singapore air is hit or miss with weighing your carry on bag. If possible try to not even visit the counter and you will be okay and they won’t weigh you. Go to kiosk and print boarding pass if possible!
They allow a personal item though so maybe put all your heavy stuff in your backpack and use that as personal item. And then you can still bring your carry on :)
I’ve done Singapore air 4 times now. I really like them minus their whole 15 pound carry on thing lol
Hi Erica,
Link to that foldable duffy bag please? 😊
When u prepare so much for souvenirs until 30 pounds. How do we carry it to our country.. will the airport okay eith us carrying that full and big souvenir bag? Or do we need to pay more
For my duffle with souvenirs, I will check it in!
Some international flights include a second checked bag :)
Ahh ic... many thanks ❤
Did you use JR pass again this time? I heard the prices changed
@@annaisangulo696 I have not used JR pass since the price increase :(. It’s hard to get your moneys worth
Did you fly Japan Airlines? I ask because I have been STRESSING about the luggage size and weight for JAL's carryon rules. The tote you linked is a touch bigger than the personal item allowance but it is similar to the bag I want to use, so I am wondering if you have had any issues on the tote size
@@Danielle-yv8mr do Japan air!!! They are amazing. They don’t check the weight of ur carry on 😃
@@Danielle-yv8mr I usually do Japan air :)
Love the trench, what size is that?
I believe it was a medium at Uniqlo!! 😃
@@buildyourmoxie I’m considering one thank you so much😊
Yay! I hope you like it!! It is one of my favorite pieces!!
Can I get your cold sore remedy?
The weight of that luggage alone takes up more than half of my carryon weight allowance, leaving me only 3kgs of my 7kg weight for my stuff. Let's hope none of your viewers have the misfortune to travel on airlines who weigh cabin luggage or they'll be in for an expensive shock.
Totally agree. I watch these videos and laugh…from Australia there’s a total carryon weight of 7kg. Travelling internationally, I’ve always had to check in my bag, even when though it is technically a carryon suitcase size.
🎉
here youre so cute Erica!
Hehe thanks Gigi!
Do you have a favorite trenchcoat that you love to wear traveling to Japan?
Yes! I love traveling with my green trenchcoat from Uniqlo in Japan! It was equivalent to around $100 USD!
I wear it in this video :)

This one is pretty comparable though with size and durability and has a shoulder strap!

I’ve tried other silk ones but they discolor if I have product in my hair or on my face:

Those tops are great for people with small to almost no boobs😂. How did you get that hugh bag of snacks on the plane: checked, carry- on or personal under the seat or had to pay extra for additional luggage?
😁
The big bag of snacks was checked in! We got two free checked bags with my airline so I didn’t pay anything hehe.
What’s your airline. I don’t want them to weigh my bags too. 😂
@@sourcow56 Japan air 🤫
The trick is to not go to the counter if you don’t need to 😉. Just get ur mobile boarding pass. Or go to kiosk.
But sometimes when I’m in Japan it still makes me go to counter. But just keep your carry on close to you and try to look small 😝
Singapore air will weigh your carry on 50% of the time.😝

Why bother with the white noise machine where you can listen to white noise tracks on Spotify? That's just unnecessary bulk, especially on a carry on.
I don’t like using my phone battery or my data/wifi to play for hours 😁. Cuz sometimes the wall sockets aren’t that great depending on where you go so I save my phone juice and battery pack if possible. I have the calm app and headspace and I download the white noise. But it still drains my battery 🤗
Some people don’t need white noise so they wouldn’t need to bother. But my hubs and I are big big white noise people so we feel it necessary even tho it takes up space! But if we didn’t have space I would use it as a “keychain”
Off of my personal item which would be fine 😁
Anyone who shops at Abervombie, homophobic and racist, im out. If you had good tips, which i doubt if you travel with jeans, well, tol bad.

FYI..the only thing is at the airport [Kansai] while flying to korea ㅜㅜ i had a lemon tea syrup thingy that was 100ml but the security guard confiscate it stating its not the liquid they look at only but the actual size of the container which looked a tad bigger ㅜㅜ i was going to give it to my mom as a gift so i was crushed ㅜㅜ
