paulo costa is one of the biggest aura merchants in the ufc, he’s still somehow still riding off aura from his first win streak from 2017-2019, since then he lost his virginity to isreal, lost to vettori as a light heavyweight, went to war with an ancient rockhold, somehow got whittaker off that, then fought up with sean strickland after losing to whittaker

You used an example of a tall long striker with good cardio in Jai Herbert as someone like Max who would be a problem for Ilia, just cause he rocked Ilia in the first round even tho Ilia came back and brutally KO’d Jai Herbert. And you were coping so hard when you said Ilia was a “stylistic nightmare” for Volk even tho right after that you said that Volk could win if he mixed everything up so that obviously proves Volk didn’t have a bad stylistic matchup against Ilia. Ilia was just the better man that night and he took advantage of the fact that Volk kept leaning back to avoid shots so he caught Volk against the cage. @ProfessionalCurryDefender the volk that illia faught and max faught are 2 different fighters. After the islam ko, volk was a lot slower more afraid of punches. Max faught volk in his prime. Also volk does his best against taller oppenents just because entring in and out of range is what he was best in.
@@doyouunderstandthis Volk is a totally different matchup for Ilia than Max is that I feel just saying he beat Volk doesn’t really mean much to him fighting Max other than the MMA math and obviously his power. Plus this is a Volk who - while I did say he could have done better - coming off a brutal KO and coming down from 55 on relatively short turnaround. That makes me question why Ilia beats Max who is a tall lanky guy with an iron chin and every skill/attribute I listed. Plus now it seems like he has more power than Volk or at least more aggression to get a KO

But ilia absolutely destroys max, he’s just better EVERYWHERE, striking, power, grappling, wrestling, EVERYTHING.
