Cultural exchange programme at Thenyizumi village under Phek district of Nagaland which is organised by North East institute of social sciences and Research - Master of Social Work (MSW) Dimapur, 2nd Semester 2019 - 2021 batches.
They stayed 8 days and studies about social, culture, economic, lifestyle etc. and bring out the Roadmap of Thenyizumi village. Moreover, they conducted various activities and workshops.

10-day rural camp of the Northeast Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) at Thenyizu village in Phek district concluded on February 6.
The rural camp was an integral component of Masters in Social Work (MSW) curriculum in which 49 students of second semester and two faculty members along with Phek district Peace Channel coordinator participated during the rural camp, an update from NEISSR stated.
The camp was organised with the objective of helping the social work trainees to understand rural realities and village dynamics. During the camp, participatory rural appraisal (PRA) and activities such as household survey and awareness programme on family planning, women’s health and hygiene, awareness on peace building, cleanliness drive, and cultural exchange programme were conducted in the village.
The trainees conducted home visitations and participatory rural appraisal (PRA) at Thenyizu village with the resource person RK John, DAN assistant programme manager, Dimapur, as the trainer. The trainees were skilled in participatory rural appraisal and successfully completed the social mapping of the village, social resource mapping, seasonal calendar etc.
The trainees also organised a seminar on family planning, women’s health and hygiene with resource persons from Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), Akangkokla Namo and Ville Rhetso. The resource persons spoke on the importance of family planning and the role of parents in upbringing their children and urged the people to stop misinterpreting women’s problems.
Besides clarifying on the misconception of menstruation, resource persons highlighted on various health issues and other complications such cervical cancer, which are prevalent in rural areas.
