I completely forgot I have seeds for these but they are in storage! I put all my seeds in storage before hitting the road in our RV... Thank the Lord we will be closing on our new property Thursday so I can start seeds for these!!
i love watching your older videos still , its good to be reminded of the things we learn. Love you guys !
Pickled okra as well as green beans are quite good too. I like to throw in some garlic cloves too. Yum. Those cucamelons are about the cutest thing ever.
Jess & Miah, it’s so crazy to watch these videos from 3 years ago!!! So much has changed in so many places & you guys have grown so much. Maybe I’m just feeling a little nostalgic cause I woke up this morning wanting to watch from the very beginning haha Either way, it’s been so much fun to see everything you guys have done in Arkansas & now what you’re doing (& will be doing) in South Carolina! So excited for you & sending you guys some good moving vibes- this next adventure is gonna be a good one!! ❤️
You always start my day with lots of positive and joy. You are so appreciated. Just a hint from an old Gardner. Harvest time can be so very busy so I discovered freezing my small tomatoes, okra and squash on a tray then putting in a freezer bags. Every 3 days, in the winter, I make a huge pot of soup using frozen veggies and frozen tomatoes and a small amount of ground meat and rice . Quick easy healthy lunches. Spice differently and it’s always a different taste. (I love taco and Italian.) Hope this saves you a bit of time. Thanks for all your tips they are wonderful.
I'll be using this trick. Do you freeze fresh or blanched?
Amelia Kat i freeze straight off the plant. Just wipe tomatoes off with a clean cloth, remove any greenery, and freeze.
That wink at the end... so charming. :)
I just recently found your channel, so I'm binge-watching your videos. LOL. Thanks for this basic brine recipe for pickling. Have a blessed day. Greetings from central Florida.
I love you so much ❤️ Thank you for all of your time and effort ❤️
Goodness he is the cutest little guy! Thank you for making your videos. Love watching them and learning new things about gardening :)
Finally got a hold of some cucamelon seeds!! 💚💚💚
Top 3 things I love about your videos.
#3 So much info in a format that is simple and easy to follow
#2 Exposure to awesome uncommon varieties of things to grow (hope to grow those blue golds next yr.)
#1 The way you capture the emotional component of what we do, which inevitably makes me tear up.
Much love and respect
Kelly
I feel so happy when I watch your videos. I live in NE TN and I watch what you do and give it a try . Being an older woman and widow you bring me life:)
Just finished with my work, on the way back home watching this on my mobile .. my new hobby is watching you on UA-cam at least twice a day 👌
You are absolutely precious

That spider would have stopped my heart! 😖 Lol
Wonderful harvest. Those cherry tomatoes are beautiful. TFS! God Bless ~Lisa

You have a very happy home😊god bless you for sharing with all of us. You are truly special. Thank you.
You look so healthy! Your skin is always glowing... I want that for my family too. You're an inspiration and beautiful woman 😊 I'm hoping we can make it in April.
Thank you an bless y'all
Thank you for sharing and God Bless you and your precious family.
Pickled green tomatoes are one of my favorites!! Your garden is dreamy and your videos are so inspiring!!
Another great video, glad you had some "quiet time" to enjoy for yourself, as you seem very, very, busy...Your Family is truly "Blessed" by all you do ! Keep smiling...It look so good on you !
I used my Mennonite dill pickle recipe with small green tomatoes, not cherry tomatoes but the same size. Just beginning tomatoes near season end that can't mature. I added a little bit pepper pieces from my garden and fresh leafy dill. Leaves more than seeds. Also couple garlic cloves. Can also add a grape leaf, mulberry or horseradish leaf for crispness. They came out so delicious! You can use little larger tomatoes and maybe cut them smaller. I think very firm green tomatoes make best pickles. The heat of the hot peppers really make them good
Ezra has grown so much, watching almost a year later.
I just love your videos. Those cucamelon pickles are going to be the cutest things. Cant wait to hear how you like them.
You're so delightful!!
Hi Jessica very nice garden haul 💕💕💕love your mail 💕💕💕💕
💕Very nice seed collection 💕💕
God Has Blessed your Garden
💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Growing these tiny beauties for the first time hope they grow just as beautiful and abundant as your did :))
This is a great video to rewatch in the middle of winter; It really made me feel warmer!
I love to roast my cherry tomatoes by cutting them in half, coat with olive oil, mix in panko bread crumbs, parmesan, minced pinion, garlic, and basil. Toss, place on baking sheet and bake till the juices carmelize. Mix with pasta or spread on crostini. So amazing!!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful garden.
Great video!
Oh my goodness! Brilliant way to sort your seeds. Thank you!! Great video - as always.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im so jealous I can't wait till the spring. I know this is an older video but i love just basking in these videos taking notes. I have had small gardens over the years but this year im tripling it this year. Thank you so much for all your knowledge and inspiration.
Ah more cooking videos and recipes please 😍🤗
Ha ha I did the same after watching Patera! I read your articles on Do South Magazine..... FANTASTIC!!
We grew the tiny cucumbers this year. The kids love them! You have so many tomatoes, WOW.
PIckles look great. I bet you regret not spicing up all the jars - that blend looks delicious.
I am so blessed to have found your channel. Thanks so much for all the positive vibes and for being such a Godly woman. We are entering spring storms weather here in Georgia and I'm about to get my garden going. Can you do a video on how you handle storms and bad weather? How does your garden survive bad storms? And how do you fix fallen plants? Thanks so much and God bless
Your videos are so relaxing and inspirational. What a beautiful spirit you have. Thank you.
I can't wait for my cucumbers to be ready to harvest so I can try to make pickles for the first time. Thank you!
Yes Mam alone time is priceless! Having good weather is a plus! Yeah the season goes by so fast and we will be waiting inside looking out in the cold saying WOW what a season we had! Can't wait for spring to roll back in. Some maters are just split and nothing we can do for them. Ha Ha that was funny you almost grabbed that banana spider. Those are so cool and yes Mam they shonuff catch some bugs for ya! Awesome harvest ya got there. Wonderful mail call! One can not have to many seeds. Love the art work! Lots of work to get done putting all that tasty produce up. Those were so cool pickles! Thanks for the tour Jess. Your an amazing woman living your gardening dream! Hope you have a great weekend!
The cucamelons are adorable. I grew some one year just for fun.
I love making what I call Hot Spicy Peppers & Onions, which is basically what you've done with these. I usually water bath them. I love putting all colors of peppers, red pepper flakes to float around. So pretty.
Love them with Gumbo or any Rice & Gravy which as a Cajun I make & eat often. 😎😀
Hope you & your family have a wonderful weekend.
Literally laughed out loud at the paprika being out. Not to worry, I have back ups! hahaha love it, and LOVE your channel!
Pickling green cherry tomatoes or grape tomatoes are fantastic! I did it last summer with any that were left at the end of the season. We picked at them for weeks!
Thank you for being friendly and so informative!
I've seen these little cucamelons for years, but now I'm inspired to try them myself. Thanks! My family loves pickles.
Also , the easiest way to preserve okra for us is to freeze them, and the cook them in lamb and okra stew served with white rice. I can not explain how delicious this dish is yum !
lamb and okra stew sounds delicious!!!
Ohhhh. I need that recipe! Please sharel. Sounds delicious. We're loving okra fritters. I'll have to get that recipe posted on the blog.
OMG! I've never heard of those cucamelons! I gotta have some! Thank you for putting me on, subscribing!
I have been a pickle making machine this summer! And I too have cucamelon pickles in the fridge and baby squash, okra, rattlesnake beans pickled...so pretty and tasty! Also, lacto-fermented cukes and most any other veggie are amazing, easy and so good for your gut.
About 10 years ago, I got stuck with a whole lot of green tomatoes at the end of the season. Hated the thought of them being wasted, so I went in search of a recipe. Found a fabulous recipe for pickled green tomatoes. Have used it every year since. The brine is so good I use it to pickle other veggies.
Sarah Put them in a box with many red apples and hide away in the dark. Will all ripe.
I think I need to find some seeds for those little gherkins! Thanks for sharing another great video! Next year I want an amazing garden like you have, and I’ll finally have the place to do it!!
I would have quit gardening for life if I came across that spider lol
Great video! Pickled radishes are pretty good too.
Thats my favorite, the (garlic, peppercorn mix, dill, and red pepper flakes) flavor mix. I'm growing sone this year. God bless!
great idea on the organization ideas!
I love pickling cherry tomatoes with what we call in kuwait mountain garlic,a chili pepper, half rice half apple cider vinegar cosher salt corn peppers whole coriander spice and just close the jar and leave it in the sun ( on the porch for example ) for three months.. This is how traditional Kuwaiti Ajar ( pickles) are made ( some people add carrots and cauliflower I have never did)
You can search for ( Arabic pickles , torshi , achar, ajar ) these all will show results for different variations of pickling recipes from Asia
This sounds amazing! Will absolutely be trying this year 🤍
A grow extra brandywines just for fried green tomatoes. If I didn’t grow extra id never get ripe brandwines because I think they’re the best tomato for frying. I can’t get enough of them. It’s my late summer splurge.
My pups love to swipe green tomatoes off the plants and lay in the shady grass and devour them!
Almost anything you like can be pickled. Lol, I think I've tried almost all of them, and liked almost all. I've made them too hot a time or two and learned not to give them away because then you have them wanting more. I just love your kids and can't wait to see their fall garden. Take care and have a great day, much love and peace. Blessings
MOUSE MELONS--- yummy and they r fun size pickles for the kiddos--we loved em last yr. I will look for some seeds for next yr. I want to grow them again. and hope to save seeds next time.
Another awesome video. I am so excited just picked our first cucumelons and I was looking for a video on how to eat them. I knew I couldn't go wrong with your video
I’m watching these older videos AGAIN and I want to weep with my overwhelming need to be planting right now. I go out to our garage and check all my seedings under the grow lights so many x a day. There’s only so much to do in high tunnel right now, especially since I’m waiting on a few things of coconut coir to finish rebuilding my soil........ so many plans for around high tunnel this year as well...... soooooo many plans....I’m visually impaired so I spend a great deal of winter avoiding ice and planning in my head lol
I grew pear tomatoes in a container. I have a patio garden. Love them. My husband never had a pear tomatoe. My grandparents in oregan grew all veggies, potatoes etc. He loves the pear tomatoes. I grew them on a big wrap around patio. Cali. Celebrity tomatoes also. They were apart but I think they crossbread. Anyway they are all delicious.
Bite size pickles! Perfect.
It's so funny you uploaded this because I was reading about these just this morning. You mentioned yours were super sour... I read this morning that the best time to pick them is about a week after flowering because if you let them go, the more sour they get. You might try one early and see if it's better!
Yummy, I love quick pickles (that’s what we call them). My grandmother use to make canned Spicy green tomato’s and they are amazing. The best use for extra green cherry tomato’s. Your little man is adorable. Love from NC
So nice in cold summer drinks.
Slice across ways and add to ice cubes made from lemonade
Turn into salsa .
Pickle
Chop up add sugar raspberries or strawberries cook in microwave .
Spread on thick crusty bread when chilled add creme fraiche .or cream.or yogurt. Or quark which is virtually fat free
I've grown cucamelons for a few years now, I quick pickle too. We also cut in half and throw into salads. It's my husband's snack when he's out working lol. One thing I always notice I'm very inpatient and the seeds take a while to germinate and even when planted out they seem to stay small forever. Once they take off the are very prolific.
Love your videos ❤ can't wait for the next one
I recognized those Blue Berries Tomato immediately at the beginning of the video. I have those and Mexican Sour Gherkin (aka Cucamelons) in my garden too, and just LOVE them both! :-)
Im growing these this year! Very excited
"I'm just gonna leave them on that side. I don't need them that bad." LOLOLOLOLOL
I feal like a stalker now...lol I just can't get enough of you and your farm oh my gosh I have learned so much from you
I JUST LOVE YOUR CHANEL!
New subbie from Memphis, TN. This is my first season gardening. Thanks to this vid I am going to try some radishes and carrots along with other greens for my winter garden. Looking forward to watching your other vids.
This is my second year trying to grow cucamelons. Last year the seeds I bought were bad and only one germinated, then the slugs got to it. This year, new seeds, I had around 6 plants, thought they were big enough the slugs wouldn't be a problem. Man, was I wrong. lol Only have one left, but as promised I gave it to my neighbours three year old grandson, so the little man is going to hopefully have a taste of these this year. :)
I just ordered these seeds! They look so fun to grow and pickle!
I never thought of pickling green cherry tomatoes. I love bread and butter green tomatoes. Going to give the cherries a try at it.
Here is Missouri we call them garden spiders...they do hurt if they bite, but, they are so beautiful as are their webs. And, indeed, the eat the bad bugs. Also, I have the book "The Five Love Languages".....my love language is also gifts...but included quality time.
I know exactly how you feel about the mini pear tomato. You can make fried green tomatoes in an air fryer, we use ours all the time.
We call them mouse melons...because they look exactly like mouse sized watermelons….so cute!
Nice simple recipe. I like to add cut up hot peppers and add them to my pickles. Gives them a nice kick, especially to the mild veggies like zucchini.
I love the book " The 5 love Languages" a must read!
I got my cucamelons for next spring! I am excited about them
Pickled okra is my fav. I have to grow the cucumelons!!!! They look divine
New to your channel I’ve bought so many seeds and I’m just starting to see progress in my plants and watching your channel has inspired me to do more and I’m making those pickles but with gherkins 😂
God bless you dear love from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Making a small batch (1 small jar) of these today. I was pleasantly surprised to find them at a roadside stand.
Lasagna...oh Id love to taste your garden fresh home made version. I made tomato sauce in the roaster pan in the oven a couple years back and it was the best stuff ever...when I got it all done I added frozen cheese ravioli and it was the best stuff ever. I add a lot of sweet onion to my sauce and fresh herbs etc. It was so sweet and carmelized and my mouth waters thinking about it. You make everything look so easy...but it truly is a labor of love to have all this at your home. I am so determined to have it all again as soon as we can get our oven replaced I will love making roasting pan dinners...so easy and the best way to get so much flavor. I make roasted veggies and them put them in my fetticini alfredo.
ooooo nice garden girl!
I just recently found your UA-cam channel and am loving all your videos!!!
By the way, Thank you for sharing your faith!✝
It is my greatest joy, Lisa!!! Thanks for watching!
Roots and Refuge Farm I look forward to seeing you!
Your videos are fabulous and so is Ezra. Can you tell me how you dehydrate your cherry tomatoes and how do you store them once dehydrated? Thanks so much
Yellow pears cracked for me, too. I haven't grown them again. I love those wild boar varieties. I'm going to try them.
And “Hi” to you too Ezra!
Good morning Jess.
Wow, I wish I was getting that much from my little garden. Mine seen to come ripe a few at a time. Not enough coming ripe at same time to preserve. Ugh. I started late on my garden, so im hoping lots will be coming ripe soon. You mentioned a book called The 5 love languages who's I've read. I was at a flea market yesterday and came across it and was telling a friend. She PURCHASE it but I was saddened when she told me the next day she wasn't interested in learning her and her man's love languages. She said that ain't what time relationship was about. I almost cried. See I've been single mom raising 4 kids after their father split many years ago. I was heart broke top think she didn't care that much about the relationship with her man. I need to reread it again. I gave up on men when my husband left because I wasn't having my kids call another man daddy nor did I want their influence in my kids upbringing. I need a good old country boy who knows how to treat a lady, and is interested in HOMESTEADING. Believe me, I haven't found any in Wichita Kansas. To many City folks stuck in the rut of everyone else growing their food regardless of what in it. I guess you have to have it in your bones, huh Jess. I wake up with my heart racing to get out to my little garden. If I go anywhere, all I want to do is get home to my little garden. Lol I think I love my garden. Lol
Great video.
God bless
Deb
Thank You 😊
The spider hee-bee jeebies made me laugh.
I saw that Gee n tomato video. I want to do it. I gain weight in the summer too. I guess a lot more carbs. Great little pickles. Rhonda
Good call on the quick pickle method for them...I made the mistake of pickling some the traditional way, and they didn't hold up well..
