Gareth, Yes, you are quite right, it was a stripe faced (single) vidicon tube in a Sony camera. All of our black and white cameras were vidicon tubes. See the Bob Spence APL video as an example of that. They needed bags of light but smeared with highlights and could burn very easily too. They were also subject to spots caused by dirt (within the tube) falling onto the face plate. Hence you should never really point a vidicon tube camera right down. Colin Grimshaw
