  • It's time for some Gauge 1 projects again (and a cameo by the nearly-complete #StillWaitingforPartSix). Watch as an incomplete Tenmille kit found on eBay becomes the basis for an entire rake of resin China Clay cars.

    "After vacuuming Scarface's desk."
    This is nothing short of incredible, and you work too hard to hear anything less. Just trying to comprehend the complexity of building these models is enough to make you appreciate the scope of how detailed the model series was and how terrible it is the general public dismissed it as a baby show.
    Well done cudak. Take all the time you need with Part 6.

      Make that two of us. I think the curved ends add a very classy touch to the look of these wagons. It has the feeling of a bit of artistry mixed in with everyday industrial practicality.

    When I was much younger, at the age of either eight or nine, I was always fascinated by your work-in-progress James model; I would keep telling myself you'll get it done sooner than expected.
    Even years later, I would still not mind waiting much longer; it's better than constantly nagging for a sixth part, anyway...

    Kurt congratulations I now deem you the most hard working of all fans. Literally spending hours molding freight cars, and all their chassis requirements and wheels. Well done, they really do match the TVS's trucks quite well (albeit without the weathering but whatev's, I like them how they are clean), the planking, the wheel set, perfect. It speaks highly of the time you devoted to these, it was worth it. Also, love how you put James to work with not-so-dirty trucks.

    • @cudak888
      @cudak888  6 років тому +1

      Thanks - but it's definitely not a competition, nor would I ever want anyone to feel as if their work is any less meaningful. It just so happens G1 is a very demanding scale to work in, especially when the job is to replicate something near and dear to our hearts and minds, rather than start anew. The brain knows when it's been duped, and getting that look of originality is next to impossible (case in point, as you noticed, no weathering. I chose not to for the build video, but they'll probably get weathered later).
      Choosing James wasn't really an option (he's the only character I have done right now), but it was a perfect fit. Taking over for Edward on the branch line in his absence, perhaps? (The set is, after all, a very loose interpretation of the S2 vicarage orchard).

    I'm inspired to try moulding again. Only copied my own faces. Tried making a wagon kit once and it didn't work out.
    Will try it again. Got to be cheaper copying them than building them, especially 4mm ones.
