I love the reveal that Hawks grew up as a big fan of Endeavor. It really gives such a different light to their interactions. Everything he has done since meeting him at the Hero Billboard show has been to lift Endeavor up and help his hero however he can.
It honestly shocks me how few people read the guidebooks, Author notes, or any of Horikoshi’s interviews so i figured i’d leave this information here incase anyone was interested. A; The abuse Natsu and Fuyumi received was Neglect and having to watch Shoto be hurt, they didn’t have fire powers so he wasn’t concerned (Fuyumi has Glitter Snow and Natsuo has a currently unnamed “Cold” ability) B; Horikoshi has stated NUMEROUS times that Endeavour was not PHYSICALLY abusive towards Rei, he even apologized and stated that it didn’t come across as he intended it too C; Endeavour did not START his family to be BETTER then Allmight, the obsession didn’t start until Touya was born Endeavour wanted to marry someone with Ice powers so that any children he ever had would not have to risk dying by their own quirk (which has a side effect of raising the users body temp) but he had been dating her prior for sometime, he PAID her parents for her because they are super traditional Japanese and Demanded a dowry from him. Endeavour only changed once Touya’s quirk activated and he had stronger flames then even Endeavour had.
What I like about Hawks is that while he’s arrogant like Bakugo, he’s got the right to brag as he’s accomplished a lot especially for his age and has charisma. I still love Bakugo, but instead of coming off as an arrogant brat like in Season 1-2, Hawks gives off more of a Tony Stark vibe. He’s cocky and arrogant but has such a charm and pleasant vibe that you can’t help but love the guy and laugh at his remarks. While he phrases things weirdly, he definitely has the right idea. A world where heroes have a lot of free time is a world where not a lot of crime is happening and where more people are safe.

But in a mental game or fight like in the first fight in the training arc, he loses to Deku, he lost the foot race to Deku, he lost the Calvary Battle to Todoroki, he only won the tournament because Todoroki hesitated, literally need sense knocked into him and the help of Deku to win against All-Might, and failed the Provisional License Exam. So while he’s good in some areas, he’s got a long way to go before all that he’s done to quench his ego can be excused by his talent.

Horikoshi wanted something big for it, but wasnt sure how they could top the first movie, so he gave the movie team a scrapped idea he had for the ending of the series.
Honestly, while I still hate Endeavor's guts, this was pretty moving. It's safe to say that he earned this win. He also earned that scar, but that's another thing entirely.😅
Also, as for Hawks, imagine someone who essentially has looked at the hero system very critically, not really caring about how others look at him. As he stated, he wants to create a society of peace as quick as possible, of course, that leads to dangerous consequences. Wanting to get things done as quick as possible can lead to doing things in unethical and dangerous ways. So, his cockiness is less about he thinks that he's that good, he knows he's worth his rank. It's more of him trying to invoke in others the sense that they need to step up and not act as if everything is the same, as everything is vastly different and they need to act like it. In a lot of ways, Hawks is typically a character who sees the big picture and understands the game, that, however, does not mean he always knows what's the best thing to do. He's a very interesting character that I can't wait to see fleshed out more
There's a quick scene not shown in the anime but u can still see he scene after it here In the manga, u can see the class react to Endeavor getting injured in the face. That shot was supposed to be a quick cut to Shoto's face, as to emphasize that Endeavor's new injury was on the same side as Shoto's. But after that, you can see Midoriya, Kirishima, and Yaoyorozu looking at Shoto in shock, saying "Todoroki!!!" You were right, they didnt know what to say, all they could do was look at Todoroki in concern while everyone else in class has their eyes glued to the tv screen. I love it because it shows so much about Midoriya Kirishima and Yaoyorozu, despite them not knowing what to do for Shoto (20:46 is actually the scene after this and it actually shows those 3 characters looking at Shoto. Sero looks to Aizawa when he arrives Another thing, in the manga, when All Might saw the whole thing on tv, Eri was actually in the same room and we can see Aizawa telling the others to get Eri to her room as he leaves to find Shoto)

Zamber has joined the rest of the community in regards to Mirko. Also something I really like about Endeavor. He’s consistently very observant and listens to what people say(hence the flowers, the fact that he sent heroes to help Shoto in the Stain arc, and some stuff later).

Forgiveness doesn't mean forgetting. But forgiveness is possible. I'm not saying it happens over night either. Endeavor knows that. But as far as redemption arcs go, I think this one is one of my favorites.
I don't know,I'm kind of on the fence about it.on one hand,yes,he's trying to get better but on another hand,he literally gave all four of his kids so much hell and terror in their lives.he drove his wife literally insane to the point of her accidentally harming her child, heavily neglected his second son and only daughter,and,if you believe in the Dabi is Touya theory, literally drove his eldest to becoming a sadistic sociopathic murderer.Plus dude literally had kids just to surpass all might and entered a loveless abusive marriage with rei.
Endeavor's story is about showing you're sorry through your action and not just by word and the story of seeking forgiveness even if you know you don't deserve it
Based on what I’ve read that would make sense he did love his wife when they first met and I may not have read it myself but I have a lot of people would dare in the comments he and Ray were dating a very good while before they got married that shows he did love her it was a quirk marriage but there was love involved Horikoshi himself even confirmed that this obsession to be better than all might didn’t start until after Toya was born.
I loved it when Dadzawa came a-runnin to support his kiddo - that's one of the little things I keep noticing all the time, from his cat-like reflexes to grab kids out of harms way to how he is just right there ready to take care of the kids when this is happening. He's just got such good parental instincts.

I'm not sure I would call Hawks arrogant, I just think he doesn't care to filter himself. He just says all the shit that people think.... I definitely wouldn't have the guts for it...
I think the point of endeavors story is A. Abusers are allowed to regret their actions and should be encouraged to do better and become better people for the future. And simultaniously, B. Victims of abusers should not be expected to fogive their abusers, even if they changed, and sometimes it's healthier not to. Everyone recovers in different ways. Rei stated shes still scared of him but she recognizes hes trying to do better. This has a lot of grey shades and there is no one solution to this kind of situation. Additionally if you think endeavor is impressive you have to realize he literally has half of shoutos strength, and hes even stronger considering he has his ice half to cool down his overheat that limited endeavor. Shouto is literally more powerful than anyone could imagine.
The end credit is what made the most impact on me. Watching it literally made my body tremble and I was utterly speechless. I had to rewatch the scene multiple times, the moment the glass broke I held my breath and my eyes widened. I was so flabbergasted and drawn into it all. The music was spot on and the animation was so good
It's gonna sound ridiculous but when i first saw that after-credits scene i was so overstimulated and overwhelmed that I climbed a whole tree in the middle of the night to release energy. The view of the neighborhood was pretty spectacular.
It's not just Midoriya and Bakugou who have to live up to that though, it's Todoroki too, that's why they showed his fist clenching. They're the origin trio, and they all will lead the change in the future. They each represent the failed hero society in one way or another.
In the manga they show a little more of Bakugo checking in Todoroki! While everyone else is watching TV he's watching him side eyed. I think that's a cute detail :^)
I loved seeing who was concerned about Todoroki - Deku, Kirishima, Momo, and Bakugo! It's a nice touch, especially with how Bakugo's reaction is so subtle compared to the others' :D
something interesting in the manga is that everyone who's looking at todoroki in the panel after endeavor gets hurt was part of the bakugou rescue squad. i have no idea if it's intentional, but still neat!
Hawks is such an awesome character. He comes off as cocky and arrogant at first glance but as you learn more about him you see his true intentions. He wants to make a world where everyone is safe and heroes have nothing to do but he knows he's not powerful enough or imposing enough to be a symbol. He knows how good he is but that also means he knows he's not good enough to be that guy. It really is an honorable goal that's phrased in an unorthodox way.

What I love about the way Endeavor is framed is that his past actions are not waved off. Even he himself thinks of his past actions and how they have affected people. However, you see him change. He’s more gentle now, a little more personable and is still trying to improve. I love that. It’s made clear that a lot of his actions in the past can’t be erased but Endeavor’s attitude of trying to make things right and do his best no matter the pushback he gets is something that really elevated his character for me. It’s clear that no one is going to forget how he was and what he did, made clear by the scene in the hospital and with the fan, but Endeavor isn’t going to stop until he can become someone worth forgiving.
Endeavor and Mirio are my favorite characters in MHA their so wonderfully written....... I love other characters as well like Tokoyami,Tamaki, Mr Aizawa, All Might, Todoroki, Twice, Shigiraki, Hawks, Mina, etc but those top two sre my top favorite ones
RussellMuffinXP that's the great thing about My Hero Academia. While it does have one of the most likable, pure, relatable, and interesting protagonists in recent Shonen with Deku, almost every character has a layer to them and almost every one of them has more personality than your average anime protagonist. Look at Endeavor and Bakugo. In any other show, they would be stereotypical villains/rivals. However in this show they are real people that realize their mistakes and will try to atone for them no matter the pushback they get. Even Camie, a side character not really relevant to the plot has more personality in three episodes than most isekai protagonists have in over a whole series.
As a manga reader, I was NOT expecting that bonus scene of Deku's dream of the previous holders of OFA, of the First and AFO. Season 5 is gonna be *crazy*

This is why I dont hate Endeavor as much anymore. Sure he did unforgivable shit that shouldnt and almost cant be forgiven. But he is changing and he us working to at least be a better person and eventually bury the bad with good however long that takes.
I honestly hope Shoto and his siblings don't forgive endeavor cause a couple like months or weeks of kindness won't forget years of mental, physical,and potentially psychological abuse.

I love Endeavor's growth. They're not out to wash his history, but they raise the question of can people really change? Can bad people really redeem themselves. So excited to see how the anime handles the next part of his story. (While everyone was hyped to see Mirko, I'm sitting waitin for them to introduce Burnin in the next Endeavor story.)
Endeavor is just Bakugo. We need to stop denying this. He’s a grown-up Bakugo. Same motivation, same attitude, very similar quirks that are both powerful and can be put to creative use and used to fly. Both seen as the most stubborn people alive by people who know them. Along with having used to be abusive dicks that were only focused on being number 1 and are now trying to be better people. They are the same.
Except Bakugou is growing now. While endeavor’s a grown ass adult. The changes endeavor makes to himself are going to differ more and more as time goes on. Now though? Yeah they pretty much are.

I love that Endeavor getting some sort of redemption. It's still bad what he did but i like to belive there was a hidden motive behind giving his childer fire and ice power, he knew thath his fire power could destroy them so he wanted some sort of counter part for them to have so they dont' burn up themselfs

No you’re absolutely right the things he did they are unforgivable I’m not gonna deny that however the fact that he cared enough to remember his wife’s favorite flower and the fact that he’s been coming there delivering them to her. He does care about his family and I think I know what happened clearly he was so focused on trying to become the number one hero trying to get stronger so he can space all night that he was neglecting his duties as as a father and a husband.

I am so glad that you understand and agree that what Endeavor did to his family is absolutely unforgivable. No amount of hero work will erase what has been done. So many reactors and viewers just look past that so easily and I think that attitude is not only flippant but it means you don't understand Endeavor as a character. At the same time Endeavor is an absolutely crucial hero at this time and what he did in this episode is beyond heroic. But you have to accept his character from both points to understand that the depth of his character comes from the struggle of that schism inside of him and how it is emotionally tearing at him all the time. While gigantomachia only has pure strength endeavor is a smart destructive fighter.

Forgiveness doesn't mean forgetting. But forgiveness is possible. I'm not saying it happens over night either. Endeavor knows that. But as far as redemption arcs go, I think this one is one of my favorites.

Based on what I’ve read that would make sense he did love his wife when they first met and I may not have read it myself but I have a lot of people would dare in the comments he and Ray were dating a very good while before they got married that shows he did love her it was a quirk marriage but there was love involved Horikoshi himself even confirmed that this obsession to be better than all might didn’t start until after Toya was born.
I loved it when Dadzawa came a-runnin to support his kiddo - that's one of the little things I keep noticing all the time, from his cat-like reflexes to grab kids out of harms way to how he is just right there ready to take care of the kids when this is happening. He's just got such good parental instincts.

I think the point of endeavors story is
A. Abusers are allowed to regret their actions and should be encouraged to do better and become better people for the future.
And simultaniously,
B. Victims of abusers should not be expected to fogive their abusers, even if they changed, and sometimes it's healthier not to. Everyone recovers in different ways.
Rei stated shes still scared of him but she recognizes hes trying to do better. This has a lot of grey shades and there is no one solution to this kind of situation.
Additionally if you think endeavor is impressive you have to realize he literally has half of shoutos strength, and hes even stronger considering he has his ice half to cool down his overheat that limited endeavor. Shouto is literally more powerful than anyone could imagine.
The end credit is what made the most impact on me. Watching it literally made my body tremble and I was utterly speechless. I had to rewatch the scene multiple times, the moment the glass broke I held my breath and my eyes widened. I was so flabbergasted and drawn into it all. The music was spot on and the animation was so good
It's gonna sound ridiculous but when i first saw that after-credits scene i was so overstimulated and overwhelmed that I climbed a whole tree in the middle of the night to release energy. The view of the neighborhood was pretty spectacular.
It's not just Midoriya and Bakugou who have to live up to that though, it's Todoroki too, that's why they showed his fist clenching. They're the origin trio, and they all will lead the change in the future. They each represent the failed hero society in one way or another.

In the manga they show a little more of Bakugo checking in Todoroki! While everyone else is watching TV he's watching him side eyed. I think that's a cute detail :^)
I loved seeing who was concerned about Todoroki - Deku, Kirishima, Momo, and Bakugo! It's a nice touch, especially with how Bakugo's reaction is so subtle compared to the others' :D
something interesting in the manga is that everyone who's looking at todoroki in the panel after endeavor gets hurt was part of the bakugou rescue squad. i have no idea if it's intentional, but still neat!

Hawks is such an awesome character. He comes off as cocky and arrogant at first glance but as you learn more about him you see his true intentions. He wants to make a world where everyone is safe and heroes have nothing to do but he knows he's not powerful enough or imposing enough to be a symbol. He knows how good he is but that also means he knows he's not good enough to be that guy. It really is an honorable goal that's phrased in an unorthodox way.

What I love about the way Endeavor is framed is that his past actions are not waved off. Even he himself thinks of his past actions and how they have affected people. However, you see him change. He’s more gentle now, a little more personable and is still trying to improve. I love that. It’s made clear that a lot of his actions in the past can’t be erased but Endeavor’s attitude of trying to make things right and do his best no matter the pushback he gets is something that really elevated his character for me. It’s clear that no one is going to forget how he was and what he did, made clear by the scene in the hospital and with the fan, but Endeavor isn’t going to stop until he can become someone worth forgiving.
Endeavor and Mirio are my favorite characters in MHA their so wonderfully written....... I love other characters as well like Tokoyami,Tamaki, Mr Aizawa, All Might, Todoroki, Twice, Shigiraki, Hawks, Mina, etc but those top two sre my top favorite ones
RussellMuffinXP that's the great thing about My Hero Academia. While it does have one of the most likable, pure, relatable, and interesting protagonists in recent Shonen with Deku, almost every character has a layer to them and almost every one of them has more personality than your average anime protagonist. Look at Endeavor and Bakugo. In any other show, they would be stereotypical villains/rivals. However in this show they are real people that realize their mistakes and will try to atone for them no matter the pushback they get. Even Camie, a side character not really relevant to the plot has more personality in three episodes than most isekai protagonists have in over a whole series.

This is why I dont hate Endeavor as much anymore. Sure he did unforgivable shit that shouldnt and almost cant be forgiven. But he is changing and he us working to at least be a better person and eventually bury the bad with good however long that takes.
I honestly hope Shoto and his siblings don't forgive endeavor cause a couple like months or weeks of kindness won't forget years of mental, physical,and potentially psychological abuse.

I love Endeavor's growth. They're not out to wash his history, but they raise the question of can people really change? Can bad people really redeem themselves. So excited to see how the anime handles the next part of his story. (While everyone was hyped to see Mirko, I'm sitting waitin for them to introduce Burnin in the next Endeavor story.)
Endeavor is just Bakugo. We need to stop denying this. He’s a grown-up Bakugo. Same motivation, same attitude, very similar quirks that are both powerful and can be put to creative use and used to fly. Both seen as the most stubborn people alive by people who know them. Along with having used to be abusive dicks that were only focused on being number 1 and are now trying to be better people. They are the same.
Except Bakugou is growing now. While endeavor’s a grown ass adult. The changes endeavor makes to himself are going to differ more and more as time goes on. Now though? Yeah they pretty much are.

Hawks is A LOT more interesting as a character then you might think, you'll see in season 5. Also it's finally Endeavor's time, after this fight he keeps on getting better and better. Endeavor and Hawks are two of the best characters!

Hawks is such a difficult character to read at first it makes rewatching his first few scenes extra entertaining

I am so glad that you understand and agree that what Endeavor did to his family is absolutely unforgivable. No amount of hero work will erase what has been done. So many reactors and viewers just look past that so easily and I think that attitude is not only flippant but it means you don't understand Endeavor as a character. At the same time Endeavor is an absolutely crucial hero at this time and what he did in this episode is beyond heroic. But you have to accept his character from both points to understand that the depth of his character comes from the struggle of that schism inside of him and how it is emotionally tearing at him all the time.

While gigantomachia only has pure strength endeavor is a smart destructive fighter.
