      @@AgentsofSpeech My son is Now 4,5 years old. He has speech delay, he is still one year back in speaking and I am working on it. He can make sentences upto 8 words. But still has problem with "i" you, his, her.
      He can concentrate when i give him tasks. But he can not concentrate in groups in kindergarden. I Mean he do not join in Activites in kindergarden. What can i do at home to learn him?
      When i read a story first Day he listen, Second Day he tell Me title of the book and can tell My about the people in the story but not completely. But if i read same book maybe 3 times in same week he tells me much more than Day one. He is social, but stil i have to push him look there is a child over there go and play and he does.
      What can i do to help him speak on his age, he is still one year back. Will he ever cath up?
      If i give him a pichture he can only tell me about the pichture, if i push him to do it like What is this, and I point in pichture. He does not tell Me by himself at all. Is that normal?
      In kindergarden they ask him What did you do in your weekend he only answer i have been on playground. He can not explain. At home when i ask him where have we been today, he tells me. And I have to ask him more question one by one about details and he is able to tell me, i feel i can push it out of him. But he can not tell by him self. Is that normal?
      If i look back 1,5 year he has developed a lot.
      Speech therapist only came twice in 6 months and give us parents advices in kindergarden. She said she can not do more because he has developed and stopped comming. And I have seen many videos on UA-cam as inspiration in beginning not Now. Bacuse i did not find anyting that matches My child Now. This video has helped me a lot. Sometimes I change some parts of a story, for example I say little green riding hood instead of red, or I tell her she finds a fox instead of a wolf and this makes my daughter try to correct me and that's how I help her to form a new sentence. Now she can say new words and say some longer sentences, there's still a lot of work to do though, but I'm amazed how much she learned in a few weeks.

    I have a special case. My husband and I don't speak the same language and we live on a country where neither of us understands the language. I speak Spanish to my daughter, my husband speaks danish to her and I speak to my husband in English. Because of work schedule sadly my husband couldn't spend much time with my daughter and now she's 4 and a half and we can't find a speech therapist where we live that speaks either Spanish or danish. This video really helped me the last week to encourage my daughter. We thought she was delayed because of the languages and that she would eventually catch up. But she stills struggles to communication. Even though we send her to a danish kindergarten, all the kids speak German as well.
    I just would like to know if sending her to a class after kindergarten (let's say for example gymnastics or dance) that speaks exclusively danish will help her develop her speech or will it be harmful? I hope you can answer. I'm honestly desperate, I really want to help my daughter.

    • @AgentsofSpeech
      @AgentsofSpeech 3 роки тому

      Then your child is speaking English or German now? This is quite a special case... I would say that if your husband is not available now, leave the Danish to him. But if he's still not available, then bringing her to a Danish only class is viable but expect it to be super hard on her... It would be best if the husband goes to that Danish class with your daughter (I know this might be impossible). So my conclusion is, you can try first and see her reaction.

    thanks for this helpful video! My son is 5 year and 4 months, he has only "yes" and "no" words, he babbles a lot and mimics actions and sounds sometimes when prompted by toddler songs on youtube, but he doesn't form words by himself, he won't say a word by himself. We taught him sign language since 1 year old, he knows gestures like eat, drink, but he only uses them out of blue or when he is really hungry or thirsty, otherwise, he will grab food or drink or grab our hands to get it. Almost like, to him, language is not a tool for him and he doesn't need language at all. He doesn't pay attention to learning speech or reading or listening to story, he only likes non talking kids cartoon or songs. He just doesn't get it, and it has been like this forever. We keep on talking to him, which does help his understanding, but he just doesn't have a word and we really don't know what to do. Very little improvement or response to our help or speech therapy. I would really appreciate if you could let us know what could be wrong, and what is going to be our next step or help him. Thank you so much!!

      this is a hard one. you might look into what's "selective mutism". At the root of it, there must be a reason why he's not communicating at school. Be patient and slowly ask him about it, it might be anxiety or other reasons. You can also seek help from counsellors.

    Hi Ming, thank you so much for your videos and they are so important for us during this trying time. I have a 4 year old girl. She didn’t speak until she turned 2 and 4mo and we started to see a speech therapist when she was 2. The therapy last 6 months since she started to talk normally and she went to preschool when she turned 2 and 9mo old. She’s been talkative as she grows up. I’ve noticed that she has some pronunciation problem. She can’t make /l/ sound correctly, instead she says /n/ or /y/. For example, /luck/ she says /nuck/, /umbrella/ she says /umbreya/. Also /th/ sound, she says /f/. For example, /think/ she says /fink/. I showed her how to place tongue to pronounce the sounds and she’s tried really hard but barely worked. Should I keep her practicing or should we see any professionals? Really need your advice and I really appreciate! Thank you!

    • @AgentsofSpeech
      @AgentsofSpeech 3 роки тому +2

      Hey, your best bet is to find a speech therapist to understand why she can't do those sounds...
      In the mean time, try if she can do the /l/ sound by itself. And then see if she can do it with simple vowels like /la/, /li/, /lu/
      if she can't then you already have the level you need to work at.
      btw, for /th/, if she's 4, it's still fine... just keep on telling her the difference between /f/ and /th/. it's a hard sound to master - not all kids have it by 4, or even 5. So relax haha

    Hello Ming! My 4 year old (April) is extremely talkative. He loves asking us about our day or what super power we would love to have, and we have long lovely conversations. His comprehension and sentence structure are great. I work with him with phonics and his alphabet daily and I noticed he can’t pronounce his letters K J, it comes out as a “d” sound. As well as the sounds J G C K CH. Should I just continue working on these specific sounds daily? It’s almost as if he’s having trouble using his throat for his G and K sounds. He’s not 5 yet, but my concern is, at what point to I get him professional help?

    • @AgentsofSpeech
      @AgentsofSpeech 3 роки тому +4

      Hey Shell Bell, so your son has a "speech" problem, which is to do with his ability to say certain sounds correctly.
      When a child says the /k/ and /g/ sound as [t] and [d] then we call it "fronting" this is an error that is rather common and should disappear at around 4-5.
      Where as the other sounds, that's actually what we call "deaffrication". It means there's no that friction sound when he says it and that's why it becomes a [d] or [t].
      So I would say that it's best you seek some professional help to see WHY he's unable to make those sounds...
      It might be he doesn't fully comprehend and understand those sounds.
      OR it might be that he's not physically capable yet to create those sounds.
      Therapy largely depends on his reason behind his errors! Hope this answers your question. If you need more help just ask =D.

    Hi Ming, Thankyou so much for your video. My son is 3.5 years old and we live in Germany since 5 yrs but we are basically from India so at home we speak Hindi to my son and in kindergarten they talk in Deutsch .we noticed my son is not speaking well he only says the key words or some time. Ann..ann..ann if he can’t express . When he was 2 .5 years old people said not to worry as multilingual kids speak late but now he is 3.5 and we see little improvement in words charts but that’s not at all enough for a 3.5years old and coz of this we realise he has not many friends in kindergarten and when I see him he is mostly not talking to other kids just playing with them’
    Also another imp thing we noticed when we ask him to repeat something like say A for apple
    B for Ball etc he don’t repeat after us instead he says something else or he goes away from that place .
    He just says the 2,4 keys words he doesn’t use joining words. This lack of talking leads to his frustration 😢
    Our Pediatrician tell us to wait till he is 4year old but my mother brain is worried and doesn’t want to wait .

He can count 1 to 100 and also write ABC alphabet,even recite poems but cannot communicate or reply to any questions on his own? As you say he does not seat at one place even for 1min! What should we do?
    He is able to grasp anything new like songs, poems but not able only give reply to simple daily life question like ( Did you had your dinner?, we taught him, yes I had dinner! )but he reply again with the question did you had dinner!!!yesi had dinner!! How to correct him and he does not able speak with to new person but is social. He goes to school but not ready seat at one place. Please need your advice and will be appreciate! Thank you

      For example:
      I’ll say “what did you do today? Say we went to the park.”
      He’ll say, “we went to the park.”
      And then I’ll say “yaaay!!” And tickle him.
      The next time I ask, if we went to the store, I’ll say, “say I went to the store.”

    The issue of speech delays in the USA 🇺🇸 Comes from too much 💉 vaccines .
    I’m a very interactive and very funny and patient as a parent . I act with all the passion in almost all aspects with my kids .
    My daughter just turned 4 . She can count from 1to 100 and above , Can read and sing all the nesery songs , has a perfect pitch in piano .
    But refuses to construct a sentence on her own or will just go away when ever it comes to conversational plays . And even gets very upset when you insist .
    I repeat : The 💉 vaccines they administered to them should be at a more older age because the effects can’t be the same for every kid .

      It is indeed scary how much aluminum we are expected to inject into our children before they even turn one. I regret vaccinating my children.

      do you have any scientific studies to back up your claim? Instead of just testimony 😊

      @@trluqy8987 there would never be any scientific study because vaccines do more good than harm, but I strongly agree with this poster that many kids would go down as collateral vaccine damage.

      @@officialchiamaka3744 You are not answering my question. I'm asking you to share with me any official scientific studies carried out by eligible scholars that had been done anywhere in this world to prove that claim of yours. I would love to read the research paper instead of just random questionable poster. Thank you.

      @@trluqy8987 parents know their children best!
      It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to correlate the rise in speech delays, children regressing, etc. with the new vaccine schedule
      Our children are guinea pigs!
