- Mike lost his mind laughing at Kate Berlant’s new comedy special “Cinnamon in the Wind.” So he dropped her a line and asked her to discuss it on the podcast. Mike and Kate discuss working with director Bo Burnham, the looseness of the special, and how the special almost didn’t come out. They discuss Kate’s solo show “Kate” which was an off-Broadway sensation and is now heading to London at the exact same time that Mike brings “The Old Man & The Pool." They talk about Kate’s comedy special with John Early called “Would It Kill You To Laugh?” that was just nominated for an Emmy. They discuss how Kate has always been suspicious of “cool” people but now- between her three hit shows and appearing in movies by Quentin Tarantino and Boots Riley- she may have become one of them.

I love how Birbigs is like "haha you were totally joking about tl stealing makeup, what a ridiculous premise i mean its illegal" and Kate was just like "no, i genuinely believe in this and it should absolutely be happening"

Cinnamon in the wind was so brilliant, I could watch 100 hours of her 🫠 love herrrrr. The part where he reads his jokes to her is so awkward tho lol
Did I miss the part where A League of Their Own was mentioned? “Kitty” was my most favorite character. Couldn’t get enough. Her everything- humor, demeanor, etc - really tickled my funny bone to the core. I looked her up bc of that. I want more Kate! So I tried Cinnamon. It was tough, I didn’t get it. But I will try again! ❤️❤️

I can listen to Kate for hours, she's just so interesting and hilarious in a way that I've seen few others be ... I remember discovering her through her rock collection skit and older bits with John Early and I was sold...Wish her the absolute best, she really deserves her success
