Very proud of this performance for her. She sounded really good. I would love to see where her voice could be if she put the complete focus and concentration on her vocals. She is very talented!
she is totally singing from her diaphragm which is why everything sounds more natural and wholesome not nasally at all and it was a beautiful performance by a beautiful lady
Mariah Braxton I know right. britney is suppost to be the star of the show. people came there to hear Britney. the background vocolists are just suppost to be there to be in the background not overpowering britney voice.
Because they help her keep her tone and pitch together.. And I'm sorry but those background singers are totally out singing her.. And I totally love Britney.. Girl has a beautiful tone.. But she is being overpowered by those 2 sangers for a reason.. And yes I said sangers..
+Kesha Precious They are different vocal type than Brit, she has a lower alto voice, of course they will sound louder, doesn't mean they're any better. only people with no music knowledge could say that.
+Kesha Precious This is the second video where Britney sounds live where I see you comment negatively, why would you even comment if you're only going to be negative?
***** Well, you can say she's not that great of a vocalist or her songs aren't that special, but what's special about her is her shows, but even moreso her music videos. The music videos to her greatest hits are all quite memorable and to a whole generation the slightly less big hits also had memorable music videos. For example, Baby One More Time, Oops! and Toxic were videos most people remember, but a certain generation that's now 18-34 will also remember videos like Stronger, Crazy, Lucky, Slave for all the concepts of the videos. And also, the fact that all of her VMA performances (except maybe the first one) were highly controversial and still very much talked about says something. People still talk about the "stripper" performance of Oops in 2000, the albino snake of Slave in 2001, the kiss in 2003 and also the Gimme More performance in 2007 (though that last one is still known for the wrong reasons, of course, but still highly controversial). Sure, she is not the greatest legend of all time, but I do think she does deserve some more credit for her craftsmanship (because she did have quite some say in a lot of her shows and music videos) than just being a "shallow pop artist".
Kesha Precious yeah?? and where are the back up singers now? superstar? thats what happen if you have no charisma, just screams and didnt harmonize your voice with the song.
its not about who's the loudest..can scream notes all you want but no emotion..no harmony.. then.. well.. tough luck. song ruined thanks to the backup singers.
This would be a wonderful performance if it didn't have those two dreadful background singers, singer over her constantly. They never really gave her a chance. Her voice is actually amazing if she was given the chance to properly shine!
she doesn't have a high voice and she never played with her low voice to develop it properly. its not like she can't sing, she's just singing the wrong way for her singing to sound right. vocal lessons are very much needed but the strange thing is that when she was younger she didn't have this problem, she could hit the notes with no problem with her low vocals but as an adult it doesn't sound right that her vocal isn't strong enough to do what she sings. sound like shes singing from her nose.
when she signed with her old label jive they trained her 2 sing in a baby sounding voice cuz they thought her real one wouldnt sound right 4 pop music. she wanted 2 be a broadway singer
She could sing if she let that baby voice her label made her to do. In this performance she do it well, but that grounchy sound makes her sound hard for her to sing.
I have always really enjoyed Britney Spears' REAL voice--it's got that sexy catch in it. It drives me NUTS how over the years her vocals on her records are so grossly overmanipulated with computerized effects--alterations in pitch, tone, etc. Her producers make her sound like a robot and it's such a shame, because she really does have an interesting and effective voice. Then again, she doesn't help the issue by lip-syncing much of the material in her concerts.
Lol, her singing was actually pretty good! The backup singers mics were turned on way too loud and since Britney has a quieter deeper voice it doesn't blend well with their high loud ones.
+Skye Cline that's a little rude. I love heavy metal. I work at Carolina Rebellion every year. And I think Britney did very well here. Appreciate all types of music please. Music is very personal, so insulting a genre can personally insult someone
britney sound damn good.. she sounds better than the backround singers
Vel Boone yes.. because she brings emotion..harmony.. backup singers is like screaming..come on..excuse me..this is a slow ballad.
Exact
Very proud of this performance for her. She sounded really good. I would love to see where her voice could be if she put the complete focus and concentration on her vocals. She is very talented!
This is for all the HATERS that say she CAN'T SING!!!
Such a pretty song and beautiful voice and person.
I think this is a great performance from her. It would've been better without the back up singers. Her voice has such a beautiful, and angelic tone.
thatgirllNancyy agree the back up singers are so loud, and also the back up singers basically ruined the song.
Are we listening to the song? Lol the backup singers saved the song. Theyre all I can hear.
Exact
This is absolutely one of her best performances
Exact
Yes. Especially because you can hear her deep voice more.
Best live version of them all :)
I also found this one better than the much lauded AMA "Not a Girl" performance.
Chris Eberlein same I like her outfit here better, because it nice and simple
she is totally singing from her diaphragm which is why everything sounds more natural and wholesome not nasally at all and it was a beautiful performance by a beautiful lady
i love you Britney, thanks so much for existing for being part of my life. i love you, no matter what people say about you, you are the queen :D
She can sing!!!!
this may be the nicest singing i heard from her
voice britney good
we all want this Britney!!!!
Flaw free. That's what this is. No flaws at all.
Actually there are flaws, but that surprisingly adds to the performance and makes her voice more beautiful
love you britney... i was born with your music, you really inspired me.
Angel voice.
Beautiful voice I've ever heard
It's oddly relaxing. The way I describe her voice is "very good with moments of greatness here and there"
So excited for this to air on PBS and be on DVD.
How can anyone judge Britney's voice, when those background singers are singing so DAMN loud and annoyingly? :/
Mariah Braxton I know right. britney is suppost to be the star of the show. people came there to hear Britney. the background vocolists are just suppost to be there to be in the background not overpowering britney voice.

@@MrChane77 Please they're practically screeching. They sound horrid.
Nothing wrong with their voices they are both good blame the sound men mic's are too loud.
love the harmony at the end
Amazing voice **
wow 3:18 - 3:21 awesome voice.
Beauty and talent together
wow canto en vivo y lo hizo hermoso , te amo britney
This is overall really good. A little shaky at certain parts, but she really does have a beautiful tone
She sounds great!

I blame the record companies and the music industry for modifing singers voices who don't need it.

"I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" track 4 and the 3rd single from Britney Spears' 3rd album "Britney"
Britney was really good at this performance but her backing vocals messed it up. Hope next time she picks a better ones.
when people say britney doesnt jave a good voice #LikeGurlBye
those backing singers ruin it omg
2020❤❤❤
At least we can hear her sing unlike selena gomez : whispering.
BRIT TRIPUDIO hay that's mean to say. I love selena
Jordan Rumsey it’s her opinion, she say what she wants
Very true
Happy new year
Those background singers ruined the entire performance
When the background singers out sings Britney on her own song I almost died 😭😭😭😭

this was 10 years ago...

do u have her oprah interview?

Oprah did not seem impressed.
Até que mandou muito bem! Mas dá para perceber que ela tem uma dificuldade enorme em manter essa voz
Verdade, embora seja uma das melhores lives dela, pelo mesmo na minha opinião
:-)
backsingers ruin it :/
These backup singers must have died and let Britney sing alone
damn, pls no back up singers! lol they fucking ruined it : (
sabe canta mas não sabe utilizar sua voz real.
@3:05 Oprah and the audience's look pretty much sums up the way I feel about this performance. Dreadful!
Lol, her singing was actually pretty good! The backup singers mics were turned on way too loud and since Britney has a quieter deeper voice it doesn't blend well with their high loud ones.
if shes not a girl and not yet a woman does it not mean that she is a boy im just asking she look beatiful in this Video
Worst back singers ever!!!!!!
Virgin...
One of the extremely rare moments where she sings live.....and it was typical ear shattering bad but it certainly wasn't good
She sang it beautifully, hit every hote and managed to convey emotion. Not many people can do that. Why are you watching her videos?
weedy984 Can't you give a decent comment for Britney just for once. You should listen carefully. I think she nailed it. Go Britney:)
WTF are you talking about? She sounds wonderful! You must like all that heavy metal crap.
+Skye Cline that's a little rude. I love heavy metal. I work at Carolina Rebellion every year. And I think Britney did very well here. Appreciate all types of music please. Music is very personal, so insulting a genre can personally insult someone
no
At 2:28 when a singer stands up it means they are about to tear it up 😂😂 she got up like she was really about to blow ....poor Britney 😥
🤣🤣🤣 bro
