I think you are exactly right and I don't tend to trust the fast paced reviews that happen on an almost daily basis where almost every palette is endorsed.
You definitely have a place here, you are authentic, original and always provide inspiration. Don't doubt yourself Debbie. Plus I find your voice very soothing and I love that you dig out older palettes xx

I LOVE your channel!!! You're such a chill person, you collect makeup for the fun of it (whether it's for the makeup itself or the connection to IPs you enjoy), you don't have any ulterior motives because of financial or material gift incentives, you enjoy just playing with it to come up with creative looks, and you're one of the few channels still doing tutorials or GRWM style where you just apply makeup while you chat. I really like a lot of the other BeauTubers as people, but I learned a long time ago that you can't rely on them for reviews or anything. There's too much bias/brand loyalty baked into what they say about a LOT of the things they are sent, no matter how unbiased they try to be. I still watch them because I love makeup and cool looks, but I don't buy because of them anymore. I would say you and Kolorful Kalmele are two of the last ones standing that do it for the creative fun alone. Tina the Fancy Face does get PR, but I've seen her absolutely rip brands I know she's collaborated with, so I'd say she's kind of in a class of her own. 😂 The rest are more like TV entertainers to me. I watch them, they're fun, but I will •rarely• pay attention to their opinions/hype on products. 🤷🏼‍♀️ With you and KK, though...if you get excited about a product, I'm probably excited about it, too (because I have it and have used it or it's unique in some way). Keep up the great work! You are special here on UA-cam, genuinely making videos about what you enjoy (the way it was supposed to be on this platform before it became so commercial). ❤

I think your smoky eye look turned out fantastic here! 😍👍👀And you are absolutely spot-on, Debbie, in your observations about how just over the last few years, the consumerist mentality has finally crept into so many channels that historically have highlighted indie makeup. What I find interesting is that often, the same people who have codes & receive PR end up being the same people who then have brand collabs, & then it’s not too long before their close UA-cam friends suddenly have codes & receive PR, followed by collabs with these same brands, & I’m sure all their pets will eventually have PR, codes & collabs before it’s all said & done! Haha! 😂 But seriously, I do think it makes it a lot more difficult as you mentioned for anyone to be able to give anything close to a fairly unbiased review due to the close ties everyone has (almost like nepotism). I definitely think you have lots to offer though your channel particularly in the area of providing creative inspiration, & even if you aren’t buying everything that’s released left & right, the selective purchases that you do make yield a lot more reliable feedback for your viewers in my way of thinking because you’re not monetized, & you’re sharing your real-life experience as a fellow consumer regarding whatever products you’re using. I find your channel extremely relaxing to watch because it doesn’t have that overtone of pressure to buy things like so many channels that have codes & links & such. If we’re all being honest, we aren’t suddenly going to stop watching all the indie makeup channels who have that kind of content, but for myself personally, I find that I’m being more selective in which videos I watch on those channels because one can just get worn out from overload/being bombarded by the constant consumerist-driven messages (both the overt & covert). I truly enjoy being able to watch content from a fellow makeup enthusiast like yourself who also has a grasp on reality when it comes to the financial state of the world these days & isn’t getting everything for free in PR. Like you said, no shade on monetized channels, but it’s nice & quite refreshing to have a break from that sometimes & just be able to enjoy the creativity. 😇💕🎨🖌️❤

I love to hear your soothing voice and watch you create your looks. I appreciate that you are an older creator because I am older myself. I definitely have become a collector of makeup especially brands like Nomad But I do think all the collabs and PR are a little out of control. I don't want to watch someone just sell me a palette I am not a horror lover so while I enjoy Halloween and some spooky looks I am not interested in the Ghost Face or Melt new release I did pre-order the UnearthlyCosmetics Halloween bundle

I agree with you, affiliate codes and links are a lot more common now so it’s hard to tell if someone is genuinely excited about a product or if they’re just being a salesperson. Your videos always stand out to me because you use what’s in your collection to create wonderful looks. Your positivity and creativity are what keep me watching, and I look forward to your videos every time ❤️

Such a interesting and insightful video! I totally understand how you feel, but I think it's great that there is people like you who posts videos from a consumer perspective and someone people can relate to. You know I'm all about the creative looks and I'm aware of that most people wouldn't wear them out, but my hope is that people will feel inspired by them and maybe take some elements from them. After all, makeup is about having fun and experimenting for me. Don't doubt yourself, your content is amazing! 💜

To answer your question "Why do I watch your channel?": I found you when you did the challenge with Angelica, so I'm a fairly new subscriber. I'm older and finding a makeup creator who is closer to my age and is doing colorful makeup is inspiring to me. I also enjoy that you use different brands of makeup than the mainstream - probably because so many of them are using PR and you are using your stash. This look for example; I was interested in this palette when it first came out, but you are the only one I follow who has used it. And I also love a vampy lip with a vampy eye : ). In short, I think you are talented and entertaining and I enjoy the relaxed style of your channel. I say don't change a thing!

I love Melt too! I think the new collection looks amazing and I'm glad they went back to the rectangular pans lol.
I enjoy your channel because it's not all about selling to the viewers. You're a makeup lover like many of us and that's relatable! I also love that you dont follow the "you're over a certain age, you have to use satiny shades and neutrals" bs that is normalized. I always enjoy seeing the looks you come up with. (Also that you've mentioned your husband and mom prefer those neutral looks 😂 too funny)

I like getting inspiration for colour combinations and bold looks from you. I always start out with a subtle look, but it never ends up that way! 🤡 😂 Keep doing what you're doing! It's great! 👍😊

I've been noticing the shift in indie-brand UA-camrs as well, towards the codes and sales. I enjoy your channel for your enthusiasm, fun attitude, lack of sales, and overall creativity (including backgrounds and music) - and that you keep your videos to a reasonable time commitment, 15-20 minutes or so.

I really love your videos. I fell in love with Melt lipsticks, so far. I bought Bane (black) and adore that though it's matte, it's not drying and one swipe is even and dark pigment. I'll definitely be trying other products from them when I can. I also love what you just said about not being able to buy what you need because you bought makeup instead. I was faced with that very decision last night. I really needed a new pair of sneakers, but I also wanted some eyeshadow sticks. I bought what I needed, which was the sneakers. I wear bold makeup with bold lips too! I thought I was one of the scant few who did this! I appreciate that you do pretty straight forward eye looks, as opposed to fancy cat eyes and such. I only have minutes to get out the door and the gorgeous looks you achieve help me to do that without taking a half hour to do my makeup.

As much as I like Nightmare Before Christmas the palette just didn't do it for me. I'm going to try and get the Glamlite Ghostface though. I got the Chucky last year and I think the new one will be a really nice companion with it.
Everything seems so consumer based anymore and everything is so over-saturated. I appreciate that you stick to what you love and use what you have and enjoy. I definitely have a ton more makeup that any "normal" person needs in three lifetimes, so seeing other "collectors" is nice because I just want to enjoy the makeup without all the "hype". I don't need reviews I find, as I end up just buying what I like and then just watch for inspo on the looks.
Keep doing what your doing girl!

Another comment lol I agree about the indie community. So many of the new brands look exactly the same. And everyone raves about them and pushes their codes. I dont even click on those videos anymore tbh. I pretty much feel the same about odens eye too
