Thank you for sharing, Marc! I laughed about your "MOIST Meter" T-shirt! Beautiful scenery. I haven't been at Hoover Dam since the summer of 1971.
Marc, My kid was 4 when they opened the spillways. Had no clue that we would come to a time when the water would dry up. I learned how to ski in front of the dam, because the guys I was with told me there were GIANT CATFISH next to the dam. I could have run on water after that. Love the update. Thank you.

Marc i looked up why there is a difference between the river and the lake>> Downstream from Lake Mead, the Mojave River is currently at 94 percent capacity.
The river’s water level is influenced by factors such as snowmelt and precipitation in its watershed. Beautiful video Marc!!

Fantastic video Marc. Cottonwood Cove was a good road trip, I had never been there so it was good to see. I do miss living in Vegas. Lived there in the early 80's throug the early90's. I remeber the water at Hoover dam going over the spillways and the lake being at full level, boating and camping on small islands on Lake Mead. I miss my youth and those days. The lighting you captured at the dam was incredible Marc. Thanks for another great video sir. 'til next time.

When I drove across the Hoover Dam in 1998, the lake was full, and the spillway was flowing. I went on the dam tour a few months later.

@@TheOtherMeLV it looks like you were within Lake Mead National Recreation Area. As the name implies, it is saying it is an area, not a lake. That cove is below Hoover dam, therefore, not part of Lake Mead. Lake Mojave, where the cove is, has water held back by Davis Dam.

Nice video. I appreciate the update and the views from Cottonwood Cove. There is also a machine gun nest that was installed during WWII on the Arizona side to look out for on your next trip. The spillways are ridiculous.

I took my first dam tour in 1991, the tour has shortened considerably over time, especially after Sept 11th.
When a friend group imploded years ago, one of the couples ended up in Cottonwood Cove, doing the houseboat interior cleaning between rentals.
I'm keeping in a YT folder all the cool looking restaurant vlogs in Clark County, the VCC has contributed their fair share. The cafe at Lake Mead is on the list.
I too wonder why the levels in Powell and Mead seem to fluctuate so much, while Mohave and Havasu don't seem to hardly at all. I suspect it's tied to water delivery contracts, but, what do I know?
As always, another enjoyable vlog.
Edit: I'm old enough to remember parking on the dam itself on my first visit about 1986 or so.

Cottonwood Cove is on Lake Mojave, between Hoover dam on the south and Davis dam even further south. Davis dam is nearer to Laughlin, NV and Bullhead City, AZ. Lake Mead is on the north side of Hoover dam.

I know I studied in school but that was so many years ago I need a refresh :) That little cafe you ate at? Do people really live way out there? Lake Mead sure has come up a lot but I wonder if it will ever reach the water line that appears to be the original water line? Looked like i was a fun day. Thank you!
