- This is our newest video in the series about the most interesting vehicles that a nation has to offer… but this time we soar up to the skies. This is the first “Climbing the ranks” video featuring aircraft! And we just had to kick it off with the planes of the Japanese tech tree.

The Ki-84 Ko Hayate. It has it all: Speed, Manouverability, Climb Rate and Repair Cost
Also where was the Ki100? I'm pretty sure that it was superior in all areas to the Ki84, and the Ki84 was pretty good too.
@@Xiphactinus A Ki-61 with a low power output radial engine is in no way better than the Ki-84. But it could use a higher BR.

PhoenixGT3 It’s totally a myth that the Ki-100 was better than the Ki-84. The Ki-100 was simply a Ki-61-II but with a 1500hp radial instead of a 1500hp in-line. Was slightly lighter than the Ki-61-II but with slightly more drag. This is completely reflected in game, as it climbs slightly better, turns slightly better, and is slightly slower than the Ki-61-II In real life the reason the Ki-100 was so liked was because its radial engine was a lot more reliable than the inline. It was certainly a step up from the Ki-61-II. But for a 1945 plane it was still completely outperformed by contemporary aircraft. That’s why it’s such a low BR in War Thunder.

The trick here is to look at the repair cost so it motivates you to never die thus improving your gameplay. Easy

@@lop1942 The japanese dropped it intentionally to save as much weight as possible - for bombers they did the exact same thing for stuff like the H8K.
It's of course quite a while later they ceased to find it as a good idea to not have self sealing fuel tanks on what is an extremely fragile piece of hardware.
@@lop1942 it was to reduce weight to meet the IJN's incredible requirements. But to be fair self-sealing fuel tanks weren't really seen much on fighter aircraft at that time.

@@thatlittleratinyourcloset7612 it has ridiculously good energy conservation in the vertical and has a very low stall speed meaning you can point your prop upwards and be a 'helicopter' by practically flying upwards and not losing speed too fast.

@@spindash64 because it used to be one of the best top tier bombers when the game was out. Now it's been power creeped to being close to useless.
Used to have best defensive guns that could one shot anyone and the bomb load wasn't bad as 2 or 3 passes would take out a base.

First, you are wrong about the Kikka, it is a great fighter. The only aircraft I was really completely missing of the ones I consider good in the Japanese tech tree is the J7W Shinden

I do believe that the Ki-27 has the fastest turn time for a mono wing plane in the game, with around 10 seconds with an expert crew
Yes it does lol - and I use that turn rate against biplanes or really anyone all the time. But one of the worst things for the Nate is G-forces that hit when you try to make those hard fast turns.
So far, my favorite Japanese aircraft is the A6M5 Ko. Great turn rate, as mentioned before, but instead of 200 rounds for the 20’s, it has 250 rounds. It has no armor, unlike the otsu, but who cares when you have maneuverability on your side?
Mine is the A7M2 Reppu. I slaughtered a lot of P-51 Mustangs with it

Love Zeros, those are amazing at any dogfights in game!
H6K4 I fell in love with this plane the first time I took it out. I played it non stop for weeks. It is still my number one in both air and ground targets destroyed because of this. :) Not flown it in quite some time, may need to go have a few battles for old time sake. Keep up the great work.
As a Spitfire LFIX pilot, the A7M is my most dangerous opponent. I try to take them out first before any other aircraft.
The Reppu might as well be the strongest thing ever had it not got hit by the nerf hammer

It seems you forgot the J7W1 Shinden, and many others.
Surprised they didn't bring it up, seeing as the J7W1 is one of the more unusual piston-engined fighters in the game, not just in design, but how it flies. It's best described as "a jet masquerading as a piston-engined fighter".

when u start out u cant dogfight in the Ki series...every turn u over g and lose control....so if ur high altitude u overspeed and rip the ac apart...or in a turn lose control and get shot down...love the tech tree but u need well trained crews

Fareru Febri they already fixed it is,it was 43k before that.Bit honestly,those repair costs never made sense and they still don’t make it,except if you call “balancing” as a reason. They need to change how they balance the vehicles without changing repair costs or Japan will suffer more and more in the incoming years.

1:30 i just started the Japanese line and I love this heavy fighter. There are few things as wonderful as when you boom and zoom into an enemy aircraft or ground target, then when the fighters try to run you down they get a face full of machinegun bullets. Last night I managed to win a ground strike match by climbing to 2000m, dive bombing a fighter and gunning him down with the cannon, dropped both bombs on a couple ground targets, had a wounded fighter try to chase me only to get shot down by my turrets, then I leveled my flight just above the ground and emptied my machine guns into the last 2 ground targets. I love the J1Nl and the Ki-45 line.
Now, that's a pretty good video! I expected a lot of inaccuracies, and errors, but i was wrong.

I have found the Otsu the most amazing interceptor ever. I can outturn some planes. It has amazing guns can lit anything on fire and snipe any pilot. It’s an amazing geoundstriker.
I remember when the ki 43 was in tier one and was the most op tier 1 plane. This was the very first tree I climbed, now there is so meny planes added to it it looks like I'm missing half of it.
My favorite fighter: A6M3, Shiden Kai and Raiden.
Favorite bomber: D3A, B5N2
Favorite jet: none (didn't reach it yet)
I really like the R2Y2 series, they are Bombers but have 4 nose mounted 30mm cannons. Also the Japanese 30mms feel like some of the best guns in the game.
This actually helped me quite a bit, finally managed to get the Kikka after a long month or two of grinding air (why does japanese tanks cost so much compared to everyone else’s?)
My favorite is the b5n2. Will there be more updates for this plane, with machine guns in the wing?

No mention of the D4Y series? It's easily my favorite dive bomber in the game, it's faster and more maneuverable that almost any plane at 3.0 and can carry 3x 250 kg bombs.

The Kikka and Me-262 have quite different airframes and engine although the initial test version of the 262 did use the BMW 003 engine that was similar to its Japanese copy: The Ne-20 Unless of course you want to call the Tu-4 a repainted B-29.

I left the game because there was no canadian aircraft.... The avro arrow was the best plane in the world at it's time... Even the nasa took inspiration of that plane to build the space shuttle. Canadians wer ahead of their time thats for sure!

My favorite japanese aircraft in game is the H8K3, me and my old squadmates called it "The Kraken" due to it being a flying boat that you can practicly dogfight in, just let my max crew rank ai gunners shoot planes out of the sky in nearly all directions. My old squadron was named after floatplanes, =FLOAT=, they were our main thing and the H8K3 and the Bv 238 were the top dogs of them!
Dude the green KI-42 in rank 2 was my first favourite. Man....the kitrazu heli is good too, but locked behind paywall.

The B7A2 is probably my favorite dive bomber in the country, my favorite fight is the Ki-61 series. I haven't gotten to jets besides the Sabre I received in the pack.
I think it would be awesome to get camouflage nets for vehicles or camouflaged texture on the bodywork

Sad to see the Ki-100 not have a mention. That thing is incredible for its BR with good agility, reasonable speed and an insane amount of ammunition for its weapons compared to pretty much anything else i've flown. 500 rounds for 2 cannon is insanity in a maneuvable fighter.
I also noticed the premium A7M1 has a crooked tail. (The tail of the craft looks like it's turning to the left.)

I love the A6Ms, all of them, and the Ki-84s. B5N1 is the most ridiculously OP thing to use in naval arcade at 3.3, especially because it can turn on a dime and in arcade you don’t risk ripping your wings in the process. B7A2 with the 800kg also great for naval.
As far as jets, the Kikka and the Sabres are fun and all, but no mention of the glorious R2Y2s? I adore all 3 of them and they have some of my best KDRs, though I only play them in realistic. Only problem I have with Japanese jets is that, aside from the Kikka, you are usually the slowest plane in the match. R2Y2s at 7.7 see Sabres and MiG-15s and are slower than most of the jets at their own BR, especially the V1. Also, the R2Y2 encounters AAMs, like what’s up with that? I’ve been killed by a missile in a head on in my V2, that shouldn’t happen. The F-40 Sabre is good and all, but it is usually the only non-supersonic jet it faces unless it’s top tier, and it has insufficient acceleration and climb rate. The amazing turn time isn’t very useful if you almost never get close enough to the enemy to get into a turn fight with them.
Hello Bruce, I was wondering if Hull break would be revisited? I believe that Hull breakage from a armor piercing round hitting the gun break or tracks should never happen. Also there are tanks like the VFW with no hullbreak on them.

I really like the American and Japanese Naval fighters. Those are my all time favorites. Such beautiful planes. My favorite from Japan is Ki 43 and A6M and Ki 84. My favorite American is F4U Corsair.

Edit: Still, a stray bullet hitting the fuel tank is a good way for a zero to start a campfire.

@@theboostedbass5297 Just if you can't play correctly. I love play against Japan, coz then it's almost 100%, that I can do an ace or maybe 7-8 kills with EZ. There is no japanese plane, that can do anything against the P-51D-30 and P-47s. But I know that 99% of the american teams are braindead and can't play correctly. That's why I love to play against Japan, coz after 5 minutes I'm alone against 10 japanese planes, and I have no teammate, who can steal my kill, so I can just kill all the 10 enemy, and get a double ace. :D And after that I cry, that why are people so braindead and why they can't use his OP american planes correctly.

Correction: it was the A6M2 Model 21, not the Model 11, that was giving the Allies such a hard time. The Model 11 was only the pre-production series, and while incredibly deadly in their own right were few in number and didn't see much action before being phased out for the production model.

The A6M zero is also known for another type of mission, Kamikaze, a portion of the Pilots of the A6M Zero were given Kamikaze missions few of them were chosen ones, they were sent to battle to die

That's what I was wondering but I found out that it wasnt used in ww2 but the Japanese finished the model before the war ended and they were planning to use these planes to take out B29 bombers

Fun fact about the Ki-83: at the moment, it is the single fastest climbing prop plane in War Thunder, taking 3 and a half minutes to reach 6 kilometers when carrying 30 minutes of fuel
