Tropak or trepak is a traditional Ukrainian folk dance that spread throughout the Russian Empire. The tropak shares many musical and choreographic characteristics with the better-known hopak. Both developed as Cossack social dances performed on celebratory occasions. - Розваги
In mother Russia, physics obey you.
In mother Russia, gravity obeys you
Nyet, in the mother Russia, there are no physics.
Completely normal phenomenon...
In Mother Russia, anything obeys you.
Wrong. In mother russia you obey the tzar and the tzar wants you to dance better than they do in other countries. simple and sad as that.
Did they cancel gravity in Russia? ……. And leg bones? Incredible! That was simply magnificent
Such a stunning choreography... I wish I could dance like that. And don't forget Tchaikovsky's amazing music! So much energy!
OUTFRICKING STANDING!!! I could watch them all day long! Beautiful!
god how much i love russian people! greetings from finland (:
Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I'm not sure if anybody knows, but this is INSANELY HARD. My teacher can't even do what they're doing. I've tried. And failed. Props to theses guys!!!!!!!!!
I've probably spent like 200 hours watching this exact video now
It takes real skills and efforts to able to dance like that god bless you guys thanks you guys rock you make it look so efftorsly great job people you should be amazed and proud one of the best and favorite scenes ever from the nutcracker the Russian trepak as we know it way to go good music very impressed stay safe and warm out there ❤😂😂 Joe
A stunning display of athleticism.
I love this one. I think the russian dance deserves this kind of boisterous choreography and I hate when productions kinda play it tame.
THANK YOU! 100% agreement
Agreed! I saw the New York City Ballet last year and they perform this dance with a bunch of hula hoops. Sooo lame lol. I really didn’t agree with most of the choreography choices. The fact that Clara is a teeny little girl was disappointing too. They never really had her dance at all 😩. The orchestra was on point though so…. The Russian dance for the Longbeach Nutcracker is more like this except they do some break dancing too. It’s very fun :)
And when they lower the tempo!
But can we all just appreciate the incredible music
Russian dance - Tchaikovsky
@@arktos3095 no its trepak. Not trying be a dick
@@brisktea123 'Trepak' is the Russian for the type of dance. The title of the movement is "Russian Dance, Trepak'. It's perfectly fine to just say, 'Russian Dance'.
Especially since they did an extended version which is not usually done.
Nice. The audience gave the obligatory polite applause at the start, completely unaware of what they were about to experience.
But at the end they were screaming bravo bravo bravo for sure I would be I still do actually here by myself every time I see it
Well damn that looks like it requires some serious thigh muscles..
Pangur Bán I can kinda do that but not for long and I don't even have much muscle
Lmao reply’s 4 years later
Nah, just requires some vodka and some Boskha

I performed in the nutcracker when I was little and every year we put it on a girl in drag did the Trepak I remember the first year one of my favorite girls did it and after I ran up and gave her a hug. ❤
that man is amazing how he spins i was amazed.
i was fortunate to see them perform this piece live in many occasions and it was awesome...they truly created a lot of excitement when they hit the stage, it was always a pleasure and still is to see this act :)
Awesome choreography, it's as if the amazing dancers were suspended by invisible strings in the rafters!
Now that's how it's done!
They didn't skip leg day, that's for sure.
That. Was. Brilliant!
Brilliant performance.
Be like the Russians people, they never skip legs day.
From the U S. Great job. The air must be lighter there. Haha. Defying gravity
You know there had to be a SERIOUS amount of lactic acid built up in that guy's quads after he finished that dance! I think I've only ever seen one other russian dance where any of the guys were able to pull off that move. That's what makes the whole dance!
Amazing. I miss seeing Russian dancing in this song. But who else could dance like this?
Absuuuuuurd!!! Perfeeeeect!!!!! Thank you!! I've been seeking such a good performance since I WAS BORN!!!!!!
Listen to the crowd!! They loved it!!
You make it look so efftorsly god bless you guys thanks you guys rock way to go great dance moves and music very impressed stay safe and warm out there you should be amazed and proud one of the best and favorite scenes from the nutcracker god bless you guys thanks !!❤❤😂😅 Joe
Wow! Awesome.
This reminds me of a performance I saw with my mother when I was a child. The bent knee, continuous kick move, absolutely blows my mind!! You can hear the crowd erupt 👏👏👏👏 at 1:09 when he ta da's This is by far the best choreographed I've seen ever. It doesn't feel like Christmas to me until I've heard this. 🎄⛄🦌🧬⛪🩰🦢🔩
Same and I listen to it months after
To TheHomelessNinja ~ It isn't creepy to me. In the dance world it is called "spotting." That is, the dancers keep a focal point so they don't get dizzy during turns. They just happen to do it so fast here that my own neck hurts when watching. I guess that is because I am old and can no longer dance as I once did. I love ballet. I'm glad you tuned in. I can imagine how you felt when you first saw this. Cheers!
+Tammy Woods oh i know what it is its just in video form it looks creepy. ive seen it in person doesnt bother me.
+TheHomelessNinja I see what you mean!
Good music really enjoyed. It. Joe
When ever I did a dance to this music and when I heard people cheering and clapping to the beat of the music it gives me the burst of energy to dance on and bring the energy into the dance
Just saw The Nutcracker in Boston and was blown away.
This takes it yet to another level
I now can do this without falling on my face!
:) we played this in my high school orchestra
Incredible athleticism
The trepak dancers invented getting sturdy at 0:59
I saw the NYC Ballet performing this dance in December 2016. It was a Disgrace. 3 Dancers all playing with Hoola Hoops. This is the Way It should be danced. Fantastic.
There is a video from last year of the Russian State Ballet that basically emasculated this dance. It is also a disgrace.
I saw it done in atlanta in 2017, I think. They did it this way, and it was perfect. From what I've seen of the nyc ballet on UA-cam, what I saw was much much better.
Omg I just said this on someone else’s comment 😂. The hula hoop thing was soooo lame. My wife and I flew all the way from Los Angeles to see this and a Bret Eldridge Christmas concert (He was amazing). We were really disappointed in the overall ballet. The fact that Clara was like 8 years old and couldn’t actually do any ballet because she wasn’t physically strong enough was annoying and don’t get me started on the Arabian Dance 🤦🏼♂️. I will say the orchestra sounded amazing though. The Longbeach Ballet does it like this but adds some break dancing in there too. It’s quite entertaining 😁
Not at all a disgrace. Each director is allowed his or her own interpretation of how it should be done.
@@jezd9787That is true, and I do understand artistic interpretation. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that interpretation will be a good one and I’m sorry to say it but George Balanchine’s “interpretation” of the nutcracker (except for a couple of dances) isn’t great. It’s technically good but the way it’s laid out just isn’t to my taste.
Listen to the crowd go wild!
BRAVO!!!
UA-cam just recommended a beautiful dance to me. ✨✨✨
I am shocked! amazing!
Just terrific!
Wow.. That those are some incredible athletes/dancers.
First time I heard the song was in my music class and I really love it
WHOA! amazing barrel jumps!!! and kicks and jumps!!!!! I'm learning how to do split jumps and barrel jumps myself and I can't even fully get up in the air! this really blew me away. thanks
Now, that´s how it should be dance! Awesome!
no logro cerrar mi boca del asombro! wow... solo WOW!!!!!
Absolutely perfect.
absolutely the BEST!!!
Nikolai:”I’m so happy I can do the trepak!!”
I love the dance!!!
i was watching this today in class and i was like "wow they would be good at leap frog"
Love this song but my legs would probably hurt so much after doing that lol
I am so stunned. this guy is amazing!!!! he's a dancing machine
I always felt that the first part should be wth like 2 or 3 dancers, but the 2nd part with even more power and speed at 0:54 should be with an entire crowd......so much strenght in this piece! It's my favorite.
I once saw a local production of this ballet performed with Russian Dancers doing the Trepak and unfortunately I can't enjoy the sequence without them it was so good! Thankfully this is just as good so I can get my fix!
Bravo!
awesome dance!
Good work really appreciate you and enjoyed your dancing and music job well done happy holidays to everyone take care. Joe
need a repeat in the music because there is too much awesome to dish out!
