You had (you had suffered) past perfect
You had (had) (past have) an accident
Yo lo entiendo como: tú habías tenido un accidente
Tu tuviste un accidente, y la otra es tu había tenido un accidente
1. "You had an accident": This is in the past simple tense, indicating that the accident occurred at a specific point in the past. It's a straightforward statement about a past event.
2. "You had had an accident": This is in the past perfect tense, indicating that the accident occurred before another past event. It emphasizes the completion of the action before another point in the past.
«had had» is the past perfect meaning past before the past (2 actions that the one follows the other=> the first is the past perfect, the second tense is the simple past)
