The adidas Ultra 4D merges the brand’s most popular silhouette of the past decade, the Ultraboost, with adidas’ latest and greatest in midsole cushioning technology: 4D. The result is a a hybrid sneaker with a Primeknit upper featuring the colorway of the original 2015 Ultraboost, and a blacked-out 4D midsole. This is a great mash up because of how much both of these things mean to adidas.
The UltraBoost is a big part of adidas as one of their best sellers, 4D technology is a major leap in terms of sneaker cushioning potential. 4D is a cushioning system you really cant get on any other sneaker and has a opens a big gap for adidas to fill with its intelligent use case. 4D is a 3D printed midsole and can be custom made to whatever the requirements of the consumer, thus opening the door to a whole new type of sneaker.

Use these as my gym shoes for when I weightlift. They are ideal for that purpose as they are really stable even with my high bodyweight. Do barbell rows, Romanian deadlifts, even calf raises without any instability. Only for heavy leg day do I switch to my Metcons.
As for running I can't comment as I only use them for walking on the treadmill and using on the stair master and for both of them this shoe is excellent.

I tried 4D on for the first time the other week and was surprised at how firm it was! Still definitely think they haven’t made a sole as comfortable as boost

I bought a pair of Ultra Boost many years ago when they first came out, but i couldn't get use to the sock like fit. They were so tight you could see my toes sticking up through the toe box! 😆

Quick tip if you still have them; pull out the insoles. It's probably the most common modification to any pair of shoes.
