Four years later after this posted I got my first e100, and this is the only thing that fixed it! Like everyone else said, thank you dude no one else has any videos stating to do this. Within 15 minute of tear down and assemble, my console is back to how it was!

THIS WORKED! I've never been inside of any electronic device so it took me a minute to open up the box but once I was inside it was pretty straightforward.. I unplugged everything you said to unplug and buttoned it all back up and it's working perfectly! It updated properly and I'm playing games again. Thanks, worked for me. Turned out my yellow cable was unplugged when my disc drive came loose. Plugged it back in and was back in business. Xbox support dead end at "send it in at e100".

I was in the process of ordering a new part for my disk drive and had it disconnected from my Xbox and disassembled and had no idea that my Xbox wouldn’t be able to update without the disk drive which is stupid but as soon as I plugged it back in it started updating so thank you this helped so much

Then i watched yours to fix the error 100 code it finished downloading the update erased the xbox and updated it to its current version and it worked i truly appreciate this video more then you can ever imagine thank you.
i had e100 101 102 106 and 105 and offlined update always fail at verifying andi had [1 old [Seagates] hdd and brand new [Seagate] hdd] AND FOR SOME REASON MY XBOX 1 X MODEL DONT LIKE SEAGATES HDD andi use myy old 500gb toshiba hdd my offline installation was successful only thing i cant use fully complete shutdown mode cause it takes a wile to come on back just use nrmal shutdown or press xbox X button

I do t know exactly what cause the error code for you but each number behind it means a different type of error and looking up on the internet is Broad as hell you could look up that exactly error and it won't pop up for what the specific type of E100 it is.. but what happen to mean was my xbox wanted to force me to update when I connect to I did but here the thing my dumbass didn't have enough storage for the update to fully install so I got that error and if you try to rest the consoles to take it back in troubleshooting which won't work cause it useless... here's what I did. You can force your xbox to factory reset without going through the software. Here's what you do.. make sure your metal frame is back on and at least enough screws are in to hold the HDD and the disk drive can stay in place you'll only need 4 of your8 screws.. then put the top plastic case back on make sure that thin touch sensor is attacted. The. While you xbox is on put your finger on the power button and hold it there for 10 seconds till it fully shuts down then hold the sync button and the eject button together.(you don't have to fully attack the side panel for this to work even though it clicks it's still a touch button behind the sync button you'll see a green strip of the touch sensor the connect to it stick your finger behind it and touch it at its joint. For a bit then hit the power button again it will force the xbox to factory reset.. you will loose all your data on the xbox and have to reinstall your games... but as long as your saves were in the cloud you'll get them back on problem. So you don't have to put it fully back together to make it work just make sure that touch strip is connected

Have the error and mines was doing the same thing i got it to go to stage 3 finally then boom cut off right back at main menu problem... so you gotta flash hard drive using old methods then boot up recovery menu boot from usb

Reason for this is because there's a little board on the DVD drive that actually communicates with the motherboard. That module is always paired with a motherboard, just like iPhones and their fingerprint sensors. When changing DVD drives, the motherboard will attempt to talk to the DVD drive and be like 'yo wtf ur not my wife' and refuse to talk, resulting in error E100, a supposed hardware malfunction...
Same thing happen to me and I was so fucking pissed but just today I finally fished it my self and all my hardware works but I finally got it working.. and the sad par it it wasn't working for months anyways and I thought I fryed the motherboard.. but no ot was a stupid inductor that was the issue is wasn't fully held down. Which if you look at the mother board ot looks like a chip but it's not it's really a little inductor wire that completes the power circulation throughout the mother board.
you need to get together band Microsoft band Xbox get your money back get away from this product because it's probably is not worth the money that you spend on it because they will not take the time to fix these stupid errors that keep popping up every time they reset the system to update to a new thing that y'all never even asked for that's why your ears coming from Microsoft used to be a plain simple game now you got to fight with codes
