I just bought the TNM harness and the Acerbis VsL for my 300xc tpi. Amazing system!!! Only mod I made was putting the headlight in a black mask to match my flo orange plastics. The 16 orange didn’t quite look right up against that super bright flo orange. I’m glad I found this harness because I didn’t want to run the moto minded one straight to the battery and run a fan and a light off the battery alone.
Great review! I run the TNM full light kit on my 500 and 300. Awesome for us here in the PNW since the light kit they make gives us the ability to make our bikes street legal. The racks they build are probably the strongest and best in the industry as well, great if you want to turn your 500 into an adventure/commuter bike like my wife does.
Wanted to ask about differences between the new 2022 125 and 150 and what bike is best for whom? I’m a new rider on dirt , but can drift on street (gsxr1000.) but a big difference between dirt and street. I started on a small bike to learn the basics but will eventually transitioning to a xc 125/150. What are the pros and cons for both for 2022?
Thanks alot I bought the true North wire harness and the acerbis head light kit. Thanks to you I knew to order the rubber grommets to hold the light to my forks. That deserves a subscribe with the bell a LIKE 👍 and comment. Thanks for everything. Installation video is 100% on point. Keep up the good work.....
I ended up finding a wiring harness from Cyclops Adventure Sports. You have to splice some wires and run extender wires to the headlight but it saves $100. Everything is basically the same as this wiring harness but it doesnt have the headlight connector (the part you have to splice in) or the headlight switch (which you can buy from most water marine stores online).
Wondering if you had any trouble with the XC brake line which I believe is shorter than the XCW line. Mine seems way to short on the XC I have and no way to make the headlight fit. I do have the bars up a bit from stock though.
Thank you for the video! Do you know if the 2023 250 XC 2-stroke will have wiring for the light, now the have shifted from the TPI? I've pre-ordered one and I want to get parts prior to release. Thank you!
the TNM setup costs money, but there's a lot there and it's fast/easy to install. i have this exact same set up on a 2020 XC 300 and it's been amazing. my VSL came with the wrong pinout for the harness, but moving one pin in the connector fixed it. popped the plastic tab out of the way with a pick, moved it, and it's been fine ever since. check it works before your first ride ;)
Sorry this happened to you. We pin out our headlight connectors for a factory light and sometimes they are off on aftermarket setups. Glad you got it squared away and sorry for the inconvenience.
How much wattage can the 2018 ktm 350sxf spare? I cant find a definitive answer but i was hoping to put a 40w light bar on one, drawing off the battery.
Its a good light but very bright to other road users if used on the road as main beam only. Also I found when riding in night time technical situations the terrain at the side of the bike is hard to see as always in the shadow and you feel like your just riding blind at times as the light is not necessarily where you are looking. A helmet light in addition works well when descending hills and twisty trails.
yes the real probem is always to get a sharp cut low beam, not to light cars and be able to go back home when night comes. Any aux lights will be super cheap and give lots of lights. one large, one spot and that's it. So high beam is not a problem. it's the real low beam which is !!!
My old BMW Jetronic had the ability to display codes on an analog meter, but later versions could blip a numeric code on a dash light or tacho.. I think OBD codes have alpha characters , so you'd need a light array.
The switch comes with the VSL light or with the harness? I am doing a similar set up with a different harness and want to make sure I have a switch. Thanks
I've been making timed relay harness for years but I usually only run the grip heaters on the timer, pretty hard to forget the headlight on and sometimes you need it on without the motor. I use a Baja s2 because it is thin and fits below the saw rack.
What did you use as the switch for your relay for the grip heaters? I have a carbed 2015 KTM 300 XCW that I'm trying to wire up a relay to shut off the fan when the bike turns off.
@@adambatchelder4121 thank you. My fan runs on DC power so I'm going to get a rectifier regulator that pulls power from the AC side of the stator and converts to DC to power the fan. Bypasses the main battery to keep the fan from killing my battery.
Because you have a sh…t ton of experience and I’m new to KTM 2 strokes and 2 stokes in general, I have some questions. I’m new to MX (trail bikes) currently in Maine (military) Got the kids an older Ktm 65 sx and A super mini ktm 2013 85 w/105 kit sx. Was wonder basic jetting and tunning for carb. Trying to not take it to a shop was an aircraft mech so have the ability, but need to k ow what to do. Any information would be awesome. Thanks.
I have this headlight and find that the adjustment level isn’t enough, I find the light shines in the air to much. I’d be interested in your opinion when you have tested it 👍
You’d probably need to buy a bigger stator or have yours rewound. You would also need a rectifier. Also, this particular headlight matches and fits KTM fenders. Not sure if they have one that would work for Yamaha.
If you have a carbureted xc (like my 2014) this is also super easy. All you need is a rectifier from Baja designs. ua-cam.com/video/iDm-UJkJnDo/v-deo.html
@@DirtBikeChannel it does but it's weak. Need to replace or get it re wound to have enough output to support a light. Right now that puts it out of my price range.

Do i need a wire harness for my 2018 300xc ? I got stuck last night with no light. Had to use my cell phone camera light to get to my truck miles away

Acerbis need to make one for the Yamaha WR too.
Does this fit on the 2001(xr200r) Honda ?

Can you please send me a link for this kit

Would these work for a husky fX series ?
Will this work on a Ktm 250sxf ?
Anything for a yz250?
I bought this headlight for my FE450. Then there I was out on the trails in the dark and rain and this thing died on me.
If you wanted a headlight would it be better just to buy the xcw?
I have them both for different reasons. This headlight is also MUCH better than the stock headlight.
Yeah the stick headlight is nearly worthless.
Stock headlight is a candle at best. The VSL is good 👍🏼
Will this harness fit my 2017 xcf?
Could i replace this my stock XCW headlight with this and still retain High/Low beam so im street legal.
This light doesn’t have high/low. It’s just on or off
It’s not a DOT legal light
Acerbis as in ace. Well atleast here in downunder

Wish it was this easy on my 2014 250sx lol
That bike still has a stator on it, right? Or not? I can't remember.
I did it on my 2014 300xc, and it was pretty easy. I’m not sure what wiring harness the sx has though.

KTM should really get a clue. Cutting $2 on a power lead is just plain ridiculous.
you should get a bigger gas tank as well and stop caring gas in a bottle
Try mayaklab it is better
