Gelsomino is definitely controlling Ken's aggression when he's driving. Usually in wrc videos you can here the codriver just trying to keep up with how fast the drivers are getting through the pace notes. Gelsomino is repeating quite often and emphasizing HEAVILY and waiting for Ken to hit certain corners and chicanes before going to the next set of notes.
thats what good co driver is known for...to keep the driver in check and within reasonable safety margin....
just like late Colin Mcrae when he switched co driver from Derek Ringer to Nicky Grist...and other young rally driver paired with older more experienced co driver....
Can we maybe get a video with Alex explaining some of the expressions he's using? I mean, some are dead obvious (that road gape...) but others not so much. That being said, this was awesome footage, pilots and co-pilots are ballsy AF.
Daniel Isaacs the notes are not for the immediate road hazard (that would negate the need for announcing), but the one(s) that are upcoming. Each driver and co driver have their own cadence, so the distance will vary. Watch the video again, and keep in mind that it's for the NEXT upcoming hazard, rather than the one he is currently negotiating. Hope this helps.
I'm no pro...but im pretty sure that "Oi! Oi!" isnt one of these technical directions lol
Corners are rated from 1-6 based on how tight they are. So a left 3 would be about a 60-ish degree bend in the road going left. 1 would be a tight 90 turn or harpin. The number like 30, etc after the turn rating I'm sure is the distance until the next turn in feet/yards? Crest is a obviously a hill. When he says "Don't" he means don't cut.
I love how Ken's big highlight of the race is the bridge at the end, and not flying through farmlands at like 100 mph
Great job fellas, did I hear an *Oi* in there, on one of them corners, Lolooo. God Bless
I bet that corner felt pretty wild, it got pretty bouncy for a bit. Very aggressive cut.
"i would like to order left 4 with extra long please" i love this duo. 6:31
After studying this enough,
I believe this is what he means.
When Turning:
1 - Extremely Sharp
2 - Very Sharp
3 - Sharp
4 - Slight
5 - Very Slight
+ - Means a degree higher or lower from the curve of the turn called.
Any number called - Speed of the approach
In - Meaning to throw the tail when turning, and not to have a straight approach
He is calling the notes one turn before current so Ken can mentally prepare for the next move. He does indeed emphasize aggression by repeating the note or using tone so Ken keeps pace.
The numbers 1-6 are the tightness off the corner. (Hairpin, 90 can also be used) Obviously called with a left or right
+ and - are just degrees of the above. A 3+ is not quite a 2.
the numbers called are the distance to the next instruction. (Finish and 300, Stop) is that there is a stop 300m after the finish.
IN, means to keep to the inside of the corner, essential on the cambered corners, the opposite "OUT" can be used. You may also hear "DON"T", that's don't cut the corner, there's a hazard a the apex (fences and rocks on this stage).
Crest and Jump are distinct, Crest is just that the road falls away. Danger, Caution, Care are fairly simple.
I think Alex is repeating for two reasons, one is for emphasis, the other is that he simply has time to repeat it. better to be still communicating than silent. At times he is only one turn ahead in the notes, at others, he is a good few turns ahead. All dependant on the pace of that section.
Ken's co driver has giant balls of steel. I'm convinced that this is a sport that one needs to get into fairly young before fear of a fiery death sets in! Oh, and Ken is a helluva driver!
I could watch this all day!
He’s right ! This an amazing stage to drive in. Love all the technical and curvy turns. I get goosebumps watching such great driving.
Keep up the amazing content Ken! Thanks for living the dream for the rest of us!
honestly mesmerising listening to the notes and watching them come as Ken runs them
Precision driving on a narrow and tight course.
Well done ken block.
What a intense coarse with some crazy drop offs
I love listening to the pace notes. Alex is on point.
YES! Just what I asked for in your last video! Thank you!!!

My old home town, grew up on these roads in our old escorts, taught you how to drive . Love the memories this brings back.
What a beautiful stage. No wonder Ken likes it so much!
Ken is an absolute legend!!
That was hypnotically smooth.
Love Alex's notes, so clear and concise. Makes me wish I had the means to try rally driving lol
Great job guys!! Thanks for the content! This car though..... 😍😍😍
Awesome ride along. Thank you and cheers.
Beautiful driving and scenery
First! Love you Ken... I’ve been subbed for 3 years and can’t even explain how much I look up to you!!!
What an experience the man driving such tight roads at speed on our roads on untested car go Ken!!!

Well done nicely driven and pace noted
That was one awesome Run Ken .
This was exhilarating 💕
Awesome driving!💪🏼
Great vid Ken ya rock ^^
This is some quality content.
Rally, or any type of racing for that matter, is much more exciting when the danger level goes up. This does not disappoint. That's why you love this stage so much, huh Ken?
From another interview he said that he likes how smooth and how nice all the roads camber really hard in your favor
Im so glad to live in this country haha!! Love it, Ken!
Love it! What a great stage!
You're an absolute boss! Them drivings skills tho🤙
You know you're the real HHIC when your experienced co-pilot freaks out on a couple turns :D
thanks for uploading the extra footage i was gonna ask like hey can i get that lol
immense co-driver, what skills! Anticipated when Ken was loosing focus and repeated, would want him next to me!
If you want a laugh turn on the auto generated subtitles.
Ha!
"2 ripe 4 fightin 3 plus 33 power 20 plus 2 plus open Titans 2 plus law in in"
I agree.
I'm pretty baked and I couldn't stop laughing, I watched the whole thing 😂

Ken B. + Alex G. = Driver & CO-Driver goals/Dream Team
Loved this. Awesome stage to use for this. Can you please do a build biology on the Cossie V2
THANK YOU
Ken is the GOAT
The vr mode is cool it makes the speed a different feel when in vr mode
A good even flow. smooth can be deseptivly fast .great drive considering the length of time ken's had in the cossie.
Can’t get enough watching this stage! Makes me want to play Dirt Rally again 😬🤘
I just realized I can see myself spectating in this! Like, really clearly
That was intense!
Keep up the amazing work! It would be cool if they gave a class on how his spotter is calling it. Like I’m assuming he’s calling the turns out a couple ahead so that way ken can set up for the next turn kinda thing.
Not spotter its his navigator or co driver calling from a book full of pace notes they make in usually normal road car on the recce (reconnaissance) before the rally. Look up how to make pacenote thers loads of videos . Colin mcraes way the easiest to understand 1 is slowest and 6 is fastest
I finally understand co-driver speak!!!!!
Rest In Peace legend
6:59 that spilt will get you off track if you forget which way to go.
a few times it sounds like he wants to say his native language equivalent of OH SHIT with how close ken get to drop off dips in turns lol.
I don't know how Ken and his huge balls fit in that little car !
I love the part where he goes oy oy
THANK YOU FOR READING THE COMMENTS ❤️
Is there any way we could get a stage in a 360 camera guys and love it thanx guys
DANGER
RIP Legendary Cosworth
he makes it look so easy but I know I'd be dead
3:48 is a SEND
What do you do when you have to sneeze in the middle of a rally stage
Alex needs his own special
I love rally but can't find much info on notes a video on notes and what it all means would be awesome and interesting
Look up how to make pace notes . 1 slowest 6 fastest on the corner values. "Don't "probably means dont cut each driver can have different wording.
Sega rally vibes :)
I want a GPS that will call out the turns like a codriver!
That's fucking intense!
......THE MAN!! lol
the subtitles are so messed up.....hahaha. Good video though.
Who else is here after playing lots of Dirt Rally 2.0 and/or WRC 9?
What do the notes mean when he say's "don't"? He said that on a number of turns. What does it indicate?
fvcker gonna fvck Ninja’d, abbreviation for don’t cut. If you re-watch and look at the corners.
@@mountjoy23 Yeah that tree on the inside mighta slowed their lap time a bit lol! such an amazing ride!
rip
Right 3 minus into... oi oi LMAO
Right 69 plus 420
Was watching the video and it seemed like the directions were in reverse. Then my brain started working and I realized he gives the directions for the next corner in the previous corner. Probably a little late by the time Ken was in the corner. Just used to getting directions from my girlfriend I guess!
24 seconds
Its like Dirt rally but real life.
Ken Block is best driver!
Don't bum out about making third the two Infront were probably just locals 😂😂
Gyro Camera not the best for Rally On-boards, takes away from the Visual Cambered Experience.......Other than that Awesome !!
Titanium balls
and oei oei aaand
