SWEET MISERY (LYRICS)
You can see the ring of darkness covering up the light
but to see it is to admit that its just passing by
My friend in New York City, she calls me time to time
and I tell her made up stories but never told her lies
And the weight of my heart/ It swings me left to right
like a wrecking ball on a six foot chain
forever, all my life
It only goes to show, Sweet Misery
you can follow me down to the end of my path
but you still gotta go through me
I believe, if for the moment, in heaven I reside
It might as well be anywhere, so why not in my mind
You, yea you, who else am I talking to?
go sit down by your lonesome and entertain the fool
I was late for the party and I'm eating someone's food
I've never been so hungry to be without a clue
It only goes to show, Sweet Misery
you can follow me down to the end of my path
but you still gotta go through me
When Tré Burt was signed to John Prine’s Oh Boy Records in 2019, he was one of only two artists - including label mate Kelsey Waldon, to join the label in the past 15 years. From his humble roots working menial day jobs; as a maintenance technician, servicing airplanes at SFO International, taping boxes as a UPS worker, Burt has been, and always will be, a working class musician. Burt’s third and most recent album on Oh Boy Records, Traffic Fiction, is an unexpected musical reinvention rooted in his new and idiosyncratic version of classic soul.

This has been stuck in my head for so long and I'm glad it won't leave
Thank goodness we have a real radio station in Macon. Just heard this, love it.
Sounds good heard some air play WTTS 92.3 BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA
This is amazing. Excited for the new album!
I must be a lot older than the other commentators for this song, because to me he really captures the sound and spirt of Bob Dylan
saw him live tonight and thought the same thing
Just opened for Mandolin Orange and this guy is making John Prine proud
my favorite song so so good
Oh Boy! That's 'Pretty Good'! 😉 I've been a John Prine fan since the beginning of time.... and all of his oh boy records offspring.... Snider , Reeder, Jason and Amanda...+just to name a few+.... Artist carrying on a traditional musical spirit that has the power to inspire an affected soul to become a better Human Being 💯🎶🦋
This is the first song of yours I've heard and I am a fan already! Anxious to hear a lot more.... ✌🏻
John had good taste, Oh Boy will live on
Sooooo under rated.
