it's certainly a beautiful piece. But I still feel the impressionists have invented more formality than the feeling which it carries. Considering the never synchronized invention between norm/form and meaning/feeling, this piece has reached a good harmony between these two.
This is truly a very interesting aspect to discuss 🤔! Rachmaninov was criticised for not following the modern style of music. And he remarked that he believes that good art doesn't derive from any formalism. But actually I cannot think of any composition from Debussy which is inferior because of the theory behind.
@@TeacherAndy I can't either. But from my opinion, the late compositions of great inventor of formalism (e.g. Picasso, Cézanne, etc) seems a bit being "kidnapped" by their formality. My favorite of Debussy is his "Passepied". You can barely tell where is form and where is the meaning. In Chinese we call it "浑然天成" :D

我剛住過新竹長和水仙宮的香客大樓，宮廟有兩百年歷史，古樸而且優美，後面的香客大樓和文物館有許多值得參觀的古物，香客大樓的房間，設計現代而且優雅，我覺得安迪老師喜歡東方的藝術，下次如果回來台灣，可以考慮來這裡住一晚，也可以就近欣賞新竹城隍廟的建築藝術。

音樂人的社會就是這麼奇怪，音樂家在世的時候差評多過好評，但是死後情況卻恰恰相反。例如Mahler，人人喜歡他的指揮風格，卻沒多少人喜歡他的作品，1911年過世，結果1960年代才因為Leonard Bernstein的演出才再度爆紅，而Debussy為什麼當時負評多過好評不僅是因為作品太新潮沒多少人接受得来，而且他的私生活也是有問題（跟Emma Bardac出軌, 前妻Lily知道後鬧自殺），導致除了Erik Satie和少數人以外，其他人都和他斷了往來
