John - thank you so much for all the work you’re doing! The way I understand it, if the Netgear does the WiFi, it can do 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Yes, the MoFi doesn’t, but in your setup the MoFi basically acts as the WAN for the Netgear. You will have two separate Ethernet networks, but only the Netgear determines which WiFi’s you have
This is correct. It doesn't matter what the MoFi supports for WiFi, because the Nighthawk is connected via ethernet and 5ghz users connect to the Nighthawk.
Hey brother! I can't for the life of me get my TP Link router to tether to the MOFI. Nothing I do has seemed to work. I tried your suggestion first by not plugging it into WAN but it did diddly squat and so I had to tether via WAN. Any suggestions before I pull my hair out?
You plugged the Ethernet from port 1 on mofi to the wan port on TP link yes? What happens then if the mofi is working it sends the internet through like a pass though. Basically turns the router into a mofi but a fast mofi. Now, ensure you’ve logged into the TP link and made a 2.4 ghz SSID or WiFi name. Then make a password. Turn OFF the 5ghz since the mofi is only capable of 2.4. You will only need one WiFi name and password on the 2.4 ghz mode for TP. Now if for some reason that is not working. A. Look for a pinhole and factory reset the TP. Try the steps again. B. Try putting the TP in bridge mode in its settings. See if that works. If it messes it up factory reset it. Next try putting it into the AP or access point mode. Once you’ve got the TP working on the WiFi you made for it, go to mofi settings under wireless and turn wireless radio to “no.” This disables the WiFi on the mofi and allows only the TP to work with no conflict. Ensure you can still access the mofi settings through the TP link on a browser 192.168.10.1 before you select radio to no or off on mofi. That’s it booom! If none of that works try a different Ethernet cord or get a damn netgear. Because it’s literally plug and play!! Let me know how you make out!

That’s correct if your Mofi is working properly then go ahead and Ethernet in port one on mofi to wan port on personal router. Go to personal router settings turn off the 5ghz only use the 2.4ghz (that’s all mofi is capable of) and make a WiFi name and password. Verizon won’t allow a cell phone plan to work with mofi only a data hotspot plan. I have a grandfathered cell plan that was discontinued years ago and they allow me to use it
I wanted 5ghz with my mofi so i just tethered it into a netgear router and use the netgear wifi and it boosted my speeds so they are not the same imo. I also didn't go into my mofi or netgear settings at all. I just simply plugged the mofi into the netgear & the netgear wifi option immediately became available...so I left it alone.

@@coyswatzell2148 so did you know what band you were on for optimal speeds? You might need to try all the bands under band scanner that show up
And lock on each see which one had those speeds
Hey man. You don’t have advanced band lock probably because you bought the sim 7 combo mofi. You need the sim 4 combo. Sim 7 does not allow CA sorry man
How much and buy where? I want to buy it.
How much for what? You can get a mofi on Amazon
Hey John, I turned the WiFi to the mofi off and set the channel to 1 and the I hit save...about 30mins later the mofi starts giving off WiFi again. I repeated my prior steps...and then the same thing. How do I fix this??? Thanks in advance
WiFi on mofi. Wireless radio enabled: select NO! That’s how you turn it off and it should stay off lol. Keep in mind you might have named your personal router with the same name? Hope that helps. Oh one last thing. Don’t reset the device ever unless it stops
Working or something. Only do a reboot! A reboot will turn it off and on. A reset will change it back to factory settings lol. Reboot should be located on the left side scroll all the way near bottom or you can simply unplug it and plug it back in.
@@rockernro Sweet! Thanks for the quick reply! I’ll go and fix a few things and I’ll let you kno what’s up.
@@rockernro Hey Sarge, Ive been testing the, “WiFi keeps coming back on after I set it to off issue for like 2 days now.
1st test: I’ll make the changes, then hit save and it shows that the settings are saved to WiFi modem No. I logged out and then back in only to see WiFi modem is set back to YES. It also still shows the mofi broadcasting WiFi when my iPhone is searching for available networks. I was pulling about 35mbps, then I notice it goes to 20 then the speed won’t break double digits. So I think that because the mofi is still blasting WiFi, it’s killing my speed to my netgear router. Problem is I can’t keep the mofi WiFi off. Please advise..
@@gtown03boy so are you hitting save or ok or whatever it is when you select WiFi radio to no on the mofi? Once you save that setting it should go off and stay off if not call mofi customer support and tell em to replace it. Good luck they’re the worst but they should work the issue. Secondly, simply don’t log in to the mofi WiFi. It is definitely going to be slower. Just stay logged into your gaming router’s WiFi. It should still work the same. You’ll just have another WiFi network broadcasting. Shouldn’t really impede your speed just don’t use it and put a password on it
@@rockernro ok sarge, I’ll contact mofi customer. It weird how the WiFi “turns itself back on” after I set it to off and save it... I’ll keep you posted...
I have a sim 7 and trying to tether to a Netgear gaming router. I think its conflicting. I did turn off the wifi on the mofi. And have it hard wired to my laptop so I don't lose connection. But its not working for me... Please help.
have you done an ip passthrough? check your tabs and look for ip passthrough.
Just a little pointer... make sure your router uses b/g/n....not ac as the mofi is b/g/n embedded...😊
I notice his is the AC version but it’s still working? What would having a B/G/N do that’s different from this AC one? TIA
@@biglonniegruhn nothing thats for router purposes only. Hes using a router that can do all that so mofi is just giving internet while router does all the magic. the mofi embedded router is trash. hence we use our own router and have the mofi as a ip,,passthrough
I can only go to google on my router. UA-cam Facebook say not internet
So umm are you using a mofi? Is the internet light on?
I put a video up for the atnt Internet. Very bad video but link is in the description. My name is lee so referrals help.
What service provider are you using brother?
Charles Jarvis no comment
Do you see where we are at!?! Do you!?!
Huh?
It's what you said in the video referring to the mofi being in that little closet
@@josephscarborough23 yeah it’s a good location! Lol
thats not how 5gz works the netgear broadcasts the internet it gets in 5ghz through its 5ghz radio
5ghz is a frequency band dude. The mofi is capable of 2.4 ghz. When you convert it over to a netgear you are essentially transferring it over not converting it to 5ghz. lol, say it ain’t so? Go ahead and make 2 SSIDs on your router. One for 2.5 and one for 5. Do a speed test see what happens! You’ll get a 5ghz band that’s actually a 2.4 lol. You think it’s 5G but actually you made an extra 2.4 band that won’t travel as far lmao!
Lol I got the same router to
Anyone know a cheap router I can wire lan connect to said router
Itz Swifty any AC router will do man. Check the FB marketplace or eBay
@@rockernro I have the old direct tv ATT unlimited(?) grandfathered plan. All I want is open or moderate nat and I just can't figure out. No need for antennas rural. You think a 2nd router is the missing key? I tried direct connecting the yellow mofi ethernet right to my Xbox but it would not connect. Maybe it's a simpler fix than I think? Thank you for your service x2 my man!
Hey John have you heard perhaps using ubiquiti products? They are awesome 👌. Great video Sir 👍 thanks
Bill Sands yes I’ve looked at em
@@rockernro i have a few of the AC Pros ,switches, nano m5, etc so I can't wait to get my mofi 4500 in two weeks and follow your awesome videos. 👍
you seem like you have anger issues
I can be angry yes especially when dealing with dumb ass people! 😉
I agree
