  • This is a demonstration of how Joe and Nast set up their campsite. Setting up a campsite can be a lot of work, but if you come up with a method of how you like to have things laid out, the task of getting the campsite set up becomes much simpler.
    The Outdoor Realm shares personal outdoor experiences in order to provide information and ideas for hunting, fishing, and camping. We hope that viewers can broaden their own outdoor adventures by learning from our successes, failures, and experiences presented through our videos.

    First, I always try to determine the direction of the predominant weather. If it comes in from the west, I put the door of the tent facing east. I also sweep the area under the tent to clear out annoying small rocks and pebbles. I also put a tarp down and then put the tent on that. Keeps the tent material from wearing out. I do like the idea of the screen tent. Altogether nice campsite setup. Nice family too!

      @@watchman9198 I just went camping over August 4th, basically doing the same thing (tent, screen canopy over table, and large tarp over everything, campfire tripod, and portable propane stove). Compared to the people around us, we had a lot. The people next door and across just had a tent, and they went out to eat for every meal or had pizza delivered to the campsite. So it kind of depends on perspective I guess.

    My #1 tip for camping is ALWAYS have your tent readily accessible! It's the first item to come out of my truck and not buried under,behind or on top of all the other "stuff" we dragged with us! Everything stays in the truck until the tent is up and then I unload sleeping bags,bedding etc. into the tent protecting it from the elements. Did you check for dead trees or branches and where is your ground cloth?

    • @theoutdoorrealm1658
      @theoutdoorrealm1658  2 роки тому +25

      That's good advise about packing the tent so it's accessible. We don't use a ground cloth because the Coleman bathtub floors are made of decent tarp material which keeps water out well enough. Yes, I usually check for dead trees, but the DNR does a pretty good job of keeping the sites cleaned up and safe. Thanks for pointing these things out. There is probably a lot more that I could have said in this video, but I might just have to make more videos.

    These folks just started camping it's very obvious and what did you bring the whole house with you here I got a tip for you as well Make a game with the children to go hunt twigs and bring back as many bundles and reward one of them with the marshmallow who brings the most that way you get that fire started right away too so you can get dinner going and you sit by the campfire but looking where you are you probably not allowed to have campfires huh I'm figuring Northern California Southern Oregon

      The kids sleep on the hard floor while you use an air mattress?!? The kids will not sleep well, wake up sore & cranky, have fun with that…. Your kids deserve comfort as well.

      We do talk with the kids, but because the video is about setting up our campsite, that is what we focused on for content.
