Wind, solar, hydro, wave, geothermal, biomass and energy storage complemented by nuclear. For very extraordinary situations there would be a backup of LNG.
Jevons paradox is sometimes used to argue that energy conservation efforts are futile, for example, that more efficient use of oil will lead to increased demand, and will not slow the arrival or the effects of peak oil.
My 2011 Volkswagen GTI weighs 2800 pounds, a typical EV weighs over 4,000 pounds. In a collision it is probably 3 times as deadly to pedestrians cyclists and passengers of other lighter vehicles, and deadlier to me if I am hit by one of those overweight abominations. If a Tesla or another EV powered vehicle accidentally hits a motorcyclist, its 90% of the time fatal. Get these horrible overweight trash vehicles off the road for everyone's safety, including myself.
An NBER study of 5.8m accidents in USA showed being hit by a 1,000-pound heavier vehicle results in roughly a one in one thousand (0.1%) increase in fatality risk. A major contributor to pedestrian fatalities is high bumper height and poor bumper design. ICE SUV's and pickups easily take the title as being the most dangerous vehicles on the road for cyclists, motorcyclist, and pedestrians.
Nucleomituphobia refers to an irrational fear or aversion to nuclear power plants and nuclear energy production. This fear often stems from a lack of understanding about nuclear power technology, safety measures, and risk assessments. The perception of risk associated with nuclear power is often disproportionate to its actual safety record, especially when compared to other forms of energy production. This fear increases the cost per kwh of electricity produced from nuclear power, preventing it from being the hands-down cheapest and greenest way to produce electricity.
EVs still use electricity generated by fossil fuels, burn through tires much, much faster, have battery disposal issue and depreciate quickly. Additionally, it takes MORE energy to move a vehicle, not less.
The most surprising thing to me is, how surprised so many people are! All of the environmental impacts of EV components, including batteries, WAS COMPLETELY KNOWN. The lack of electrical providers and consumer choices was blaring! I have an engineering background, but know quite a few other engineers that were surprised how poorly EV's would perform. Yet, all the information stood in place at the start of it all. All being ignored, altered, distorted by greedy companies and the government. Well, they failed to pull the wool over my eyes. Word of advice: do your own research, don't just "believe" and turn into an advocate of bunk principles! When it makes sense numerically, then it's time to take EV's seriously. The day will come, but it's sure as hell ain't now!

EV's aren't the answer. We will find the answer eventually, but EV's aren't it. What about all the waste from the EV batteries after they're no good? And what about the environmental cost from digging tons and tons of earth up to mine the minerals?
EVs are the answer and if you're still alive in 30 years from now, you'll be driving one, I guarantee it. It's premature to be mandating EVs right now but in the future it will make sense.

A big concern with those batteries is if they get punctured or somehow badly damaged during a crash they are very dangerous due to fire. Those fires are very hard to contain or put out. Also because of how heavy they are that adds greatly to the weight of the vehicle making a crash impact even worse due to all that mass. Also there is the issue with garage fires when the batteries are charging. Seen a lot of news story videos of those happening. The battery safety issues really need to be worked out.
I donna know, If certain regulations would catch up with the EV market, Like the increasing of driveway slabs, including any walkway traversing through it, Lets say from the standard 3-1/2" - 4" presently required at most residential structures, To let's assume 4-1/2" - 6" slab to accommodate the extra weight, considering most people who can afford an EV can probably afford two ! Yes, EV‘s are heavier, but everything else is minor. There’s plenty of RVs and semi trucks on the road who also wear out the tires.
Minor in the eyes of the beholder. No consideration given to the ancient power grid, which will proly buckle if enough EVs are put in play.
@@IAMTHERAZORwow, you are ignorant. The power grid is not ancient and can handle EVs just fine. As demand grows power companies will add more power just like they always have since the beginning of power. Even California is handling it just fine and they are the largest buyers of EVs in the us. In fact California is no longer having power supply problems and in fact has been having a surplus. Stop listening to the FUD msm is pushing and do some actual looking for yourself.
@@nickv8816 California has rolling blackouts, what the hell are you talking about.
Plus people are leaving california in record numbers
@@Eighteenxray are you sure about that? When was the last time they had rolling blackouts??
@@nickv8816 2020 due to supply issues. The blackouts California is experiencing now has nothing to do with electrical demand but with wildfire risk.
EV's aren't cleaner until 80,000 to 100,000 miles and by then you need a new battery or another EV! 500,000 tons of material to make one battery!!!!
That's not true. They have 100k mile warranties. Think about it
@@thedopplereffect00 a warranty battery replacement is still a battery replacement. Think about it.
@@rotaryenginepete you think they would offer a warranty where replacement rate is 100%? You don't understand how businesses operate
@@thedopplereffect00 absolutely. why do you think OEM's lose money on every EV they sell?
@@rotaryenginepete Because of R&D. They're not losing money due to battery replacement warranty claims. If a company spends $6bn on R&D and sells only a few thousand cars, it makes sense they would lose money on each vehicle if you amortize those costs.
As if that wasn’t predictable
EVs are stupid!
You can't have solar without a diesel delivering it😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Who wants to b sitting in a cube surrounded by wireless, electrical currents everyday anyway. It cannot be healthy
Eventually, costly devastation of this expensive virtue-signalling will impact on national economies. It's a slow, insidious process, planned and executed by malevolent interests.
Imagine that!
Go Bjorn, set the story straight! WE aren't buying them!
You missed the one thing. Where do you get the power to charge up the car.
You can do solar. The sun will charge the car.
Wind, solar, hydro, wave, geothermal, biomass and energy storage complemented by nuclear. For very extraordinary situations there would be a backup of LNG.
@@hanshansen3885 I like the Atom.
@@hanshansen3885
@johnnys8822 Why?
The sad truth is that this costly experiment was not necessary. All the short comings were already known.
It's a total scam
Some EV charging stations use diesel generators to generate the power to charge your vehicle.
I’ve put 219,000 miles on my Tesla and have never run into a generator powered by diesel or gasoline to charge my vehicle.
@@theczar6171 Unless you've confirmed all the energy you've gotten was from solar panels that were not made using an insane amount of "fossil fuels", your point is mute.
Yep sounds about right!!
Excellent review!
Lithium poisoning? Neurotoxin? That stuff is toxic.
Good reasonable perspective
EV's aren't the answer. We will find the answer eventually, but EV's aren't it. What about all the waste from the EV batteries after they're no good? And what about the environmental cost from digging tons and tons of earth up to mine the minerals?
EVs are the answer and if you're still alive in 30 years from now, you'll be driving one, I guarantee it. It's premature to be mandating EVs right now but in the future it will make sense.
👍💯🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 someone finally got their head out of their a$$
i don't really care about range but in speed no gasoline car can compete with my tesla and that's really what i care about. i don't give af about climate or anything just performance.
I wanted a Tesla and still think they're cool, but will probably never buy an EV now
Although I would Love to have a Hybrid vehicle like a Prius or a Corrolla Hybrid
The battery safety issues really need to be worked out.
here in ca ppl are getting dropped from insurance for having to much solar on there roofs
Because our basic concrete pour begins by the yard and increases accordingly! Go EV's
They're heavier and more deadly.....wtf do trucks do then
This is what happens when you try to do too much too quickly.
The sun does not shine! The wind does not blow! We need more oil and plastic! In our lymph nodes!
