Excellent information. Those guys have a very nice channel and I have been a subscriber for a couple of weeks. They seem like very respectful young men and I'm sure they will go places in the air gun world.
Mahalo Nui! (Thank you very much in Hawaiian) Matt, Gerhard and Roelf for sharing this awesome informative video interview. I've been wondering why there has not been more information about slug barrels from FX and you've cleared that up a bit. I had stumbled upon the Gerhard and Roelf's AIR HUNTER video a few days ago with you hunting with them. Awesome footage. Keep up the excellent work guys.- Mike
EXCELENT VIDEO GUYS !!! Trading knowledge is essencial for the benefit of the whole industry, from factory to shooters ! Great initiative worthy of praise !!! Keep'em coming !!!
I am in the uk and my crown was on order for 20 months before I got it. Now I am enquiring about slug liners to my dealer and I expect the same or longer wait.
I happened to run into their channel the other night. Really enjoyed the two hunting videos I seen with them and yourself. I will definitely subscribe to there Channel. Lots of beautiful area to hunt. Here in New Mexico USA we had a huge Dairy ourselves. It kind of took me back. Happy Hunting. They have a great Channel.👍👍✌
Always good and informative content in all of your videos Matt. Really enjoy watching you guys shoot have learned a lot from you thanks and keep up with the great content.
Matt, you're the one that makes me think about "maybe my next riffle's gonna be a PCP"... (And for sure an Impact). I shoot 22lr, 222Rem and 243Win (12 Ga Pump action doesn't count 😎🇫🇷😇). Regards from France! 🖖🏻
Slugs don't do well out of heavily choked barrels because of the distortion induced in the projectile. If your barrel is heavily choked, your slug should be sized for the choke, and almost "loose" in the barrel. Close to bore (land to land) diameter, rather than groove diameter (as would have been appropriate for a firearm barrel and projectile). Such "undersized" slugs are also easier to load and suffer less distortion from the probe. Slugs do better out of unchoked barrels, providing the bore diameter is parallel, or tapers down very slightly all the way towards the muzzle. Choking barrels at the muzzle is a cheap way to hide the effect of variations in bore diameter down the length of the barrel... If you know what you are doing, you can lap the tight spots out of a commercial airgun barrel. You can even lap it to achieve a very shallow taper down towards the muzzle. We are talking about no more than 0.0005 inch taper in bore diameter, breech to muzzle for a .22 caliber. If your barrel bore flares at or towards the muzzle, the projectile becomes loose and tends to "rattle" and "tip", assuming an uncertain exit direction and yaw angle. This blows groups open, and you won't be very happy with that.
Matt once you get to the FX factory do your Canadian airgun community a favor, help get our slug liners over here sooner. Unfortunately our retailers over here in the great white north are looking at a few months before they arrive, they seem to keep pushing the date further head. Ive got the gun and even a few boxes of NSA slugs, just no liner.
Hi I have two questions. 1. With both your FX guns shooting slugs don’t you need a practice gun for some competition like the Extreme Bench-rest starting soon?. 2. With scopes it there a formula for example a scope should cost between 50-60% of your rifle when you have a entry level rifle “none regulated rifles” but one you go into the premier guns Impact and Grown scope should cost 100-150% of your rifle.
Extreme Benchrest all happens with .30 cals, so I can’t really practice at all. The slugs are closer to .30 cal performance than the .22 pellets are though.
So is the 1 size slug barrel for.22 .25. never have heard anyone talk about if you want one how do you order it. 600mm vs 700mm is that option ? one choke size ? Maybe let us know what your barrel is an slug your using etc. Great Video as always, thanks FX for a great gun. now get the dreamline out so I can see how it does..
I really think there is great potential for slugs in 177 as in greater potential speed, BC and lower air consumption, Higher shot count etc, are FX looking at this option as well.
Matt, what is the FX impact X muzzle velocity that you use. In the UK we have a limit of 12 foot pounds muzzle velocity. Just wondering what the spec is on your Impact gun. Im thinking of getting a .25 calibre which Im informed by my local gun dealer will comply with UK Laws. Would appreciate your comments.
i guys . hope you are all doing well. i realy injoy your videos, i spend houres watching them, the hunting. pest control and all the explaining of all the airguns and cal. but one thing i would like to know is what is the price rang on the airguns in south africa.. i lived in SA 22/23 years ago, now living in portugal... so it would be great to know that... namely the FX airguns and what scope would you recomend.. thatnks in adv. all the best guys, keep up the good work.
Hi Matt, just a question - so at the moment FX does not make a barrel specific for slugs - lets say in .22? do you just use your normal Smooth twist barrel?
Just baught my first break action, came with 2 barrels .22 & .177 cal. I feel like a monsta after charging that thing all day. Ears are ringing a little as well. Got it sighted in at 10m, but ill give myself a break since I take standing shots.
I would have liked to have heard the difference between the two regs. However, Matt's explanation was cut off mid sentence, and never gotten back too. Difference in set joints? KnifeMaker/Central Texas, long time slug shooter, in .257, TJ's barrels.
Do you think a FX Impact can handle helium or nitrogen? I’ve seen a few that they used those gases an got a lot more power out of the air gun . Sadly only a few air gun can handle that much power.
Thanks for that, I have a .25 cal slug liner 600mm for a Crown on order so I hope maybe you'll be seeing it made. What is the twist rate of those liners, dose fx tell you what it is when you buy one? Thanks all you guys! Great info.
Matt? Are the Nightforce SHV scopes similar in their operation to the MTC viper pros? By that I mean, are they geared turret head? So you don’t lose zero? Or do you have to turn elevation turret 3 or 4 revolutions to get back to zero from 130 odd yards etc? Thanks Matt.
The SHV is a much better scope than the MTCs. I would not trust an MTC turret to track properly or return to zero. The SHV has a zero stop so no need for a geared turret, you can easily come back to zero.
I have a FX impact X 700 0.30mm. I got very enthousiast after your footage to go on with slugs. Guys what do you recommend? Can I buy a 0.25mm slug and 700 barrel? Is that better then the 0.22mm? or do I have to wait a little more till FX comes with 0.30 slug barrels later on...? What is the distance that you can shoot with the 0.25 slugs?
Great stuff guys and very informative with your info, That bloody sparrow though he blew up lol those slugs are something else, keep up the greats vids love watching them, I’m getting an fx impact too and any help on a good combo with scope that you can recommend
I think it would be an awesome idea if y’all got together and talked to the airgun company and I actually put together a package that people could purchase and the package would include scopes and other accessories that y’all recommend much like Springfield Armory did with the Carlos Hathcock sniper rifle system several years ago y’all should do that and get them to do have a signature air rifle system that’s ready to go once you purchase it.
Hello how are you ? I am one of your followers from Saudi Arabia. I would like to ask you what nationality you are. Are you an Australian or a South African? Thank you and I wish you good luck.
Nice video, always very informative. Matt i think ur brain may explode with all the technical info u jam in there lol, take a break dude! Just kidding my brain is wired the same way, its exhausting. Ur a big part of the reason why i progressed into pcps, just got an impact x last week. Unfortunately im working in a different state and wont get to touch it for a month😥. Anyway thought id thank u personally for sharing it all and continuing to progress the sport. Had no idea the tolerances for the liners were that small. That said i know theres already a huge demand for them, and would like to be the first to suggest a GIVEAWAY!! Haha, think of all the new subscribers ya friggin animal. (Put me on the list if u do please) Thats it for me, thanks again guys. Andrew
Hey Matt...im one of your avid fans from the Philippines...you had a beautiful and nice video...i just want know if How much is the price of the FX airgun...thanks and have a nice day IDOL...
I could see if you are using the slug liner as a dual purpose barrel for slugs and diablo pellets but can't wrap my head around choking a rifled barrel for a slug. If choking is better then why aren't all rifle barrels choked? The only difference I can think of without putting a ton of thought into it is that rifle projectiles are typically jacketed with copper. Is there something about a soft lead projectile that requires a choked barrel that a jacketed projectile does not need? Doesn't make sense to me, I need a concrete reason to understand why.
I can’t believe 15.31 . Pointing the barrel at yourself with mag 🙄 You guy’s are pro’s and that is bad form. You make fabulous video’s and have noted how you harp on about safety in your recent video, notice how we alway’s keep muzzle pointed to the ground. Sorry for rant but not good for young or new shooter’s to see .
Thank God I live in America. Legality stuff like singed consent and all of that does not matter. By the way besides making money off of UA-cam is there any other ways of income when it comes to hunting for a land owner.
Thank you. Great info a 73 year old kid just getting started with PCP’s. Sold on FX.

Great vid and good info. Can't wait for slugliners and slugs to be readily available.
Awesome video. I would love to have a NightForce scope. Just way out of my price range. Thanks for the knowledge and expertise.

Hello to the crazy team from Herzegovina ;-)
Any news about .177 fx slug liners. ? Many people including my self are very interested.
Great discussion, But Ill stick to .22 and .25 jsb pellets. I have 56 different rimfire/centerfire calibers if the pellets dont lay the smackdown..
3:47 which video is this??? Does he kill that giant cow thing???
What kind of scope is that where could I get one??
I have a 25cal Bobcat , am I going to be able to put a slug barrel it ?

So much has changed in 5 years
Do you think a FX Impact can handle helium or nitrogen? I’ve seen a few that they used those gases an got a lot more power out of the air gun . Sadly only a few air gun can handle that much power.
The problem is that standard o-rings can't hold helium. They will leak quite easily.
Thanks for that, I have a .25 cal slug liner 600mm for a Crown on order so I hope maybe you'll be seeing it made. What is the twist rate of those liners, dose fx tell you what it is when you buy one? Thanks all you guys! Great info.
Are these Slugs lead? Tree huggers are trying to ban it in the US so are alternate materials in the works?
There are slugs in 0.177 will they work in the 0.177 X Barrel?
Matt? Are the Nightforce SHV scopes similar in their operation to the MTC viper pros? By that I mean, are they geared turret head? So you don’t lose zero? Or do you have to turn elevation turret 3 or 4 revolutions to get back to zero from 130 odd yards etc?

Thanks for your reply Matt. Much appreciated.
MTC Viper Pro sucks. Losing zero all the time.
Do you guys think the Dreamline will have enough power to shoot a slug
I have a FX impact X 700 0.30mm. I got very enthousiast after your footage to go on with slugs. Guys what do you recommend? Can I buy a 0.25mm slug and 700 barrel? The .25 slug barrel is still being perfected. We hope to have it out soon. .30 cal will be after the .25 is out

Hi Matt

Would it be a good idea to shoot slugs in it or not?
Thanks alot!!!
Cant wait for the upcoming videos!
Sir have a shooting test on Indian first nitro piston Air rifle .177 Nx 100. Polaris
Hey Matt which caliber should I get my impact x in ?
I think it would be an awesome idea if y’all got together and talked to the airgun company and I actually put together a package that people could purchase and the package would include scopes and other accessories that y’all recommend much like Springfield Armory did with the Carlos Hathcock sniper rifle system several years ago y’all should do that and get them to do have a signature air rifle system that’s ready to go once you purchase it.
I'm from Australia and it's hard to get slugs here.
Does anyone know where to get them?
You can order them from NSA or Rat Sniper, but I’m not sure if you’ll be able to import them without a permit.
How many shots per one fill in impact gun???
Matt, what Application or Program you use to print your turrets marks ?
Look in the video description for scope stickers

Question for FX: did you fix the problem with Crown regulator creep?!
We switched our regulated washer supplier a couple of months back which was causing a few problems. Shouldn’t have any issues

If it's a slug liner, why would you choke it?
Because they shoot better than unchoked barrels - We tested both and there is a massive difference.
