RIP Mr. Duke. The news came to me as a complete shock. I'm only 19 years old, but as a musician and positive spirit, you've inspired me in my own musical endeavors. Thank you for the music you've made in your lifetime! Your legacy lives on in the students of today!

Lukemia...so sad. I met Mr. George Duke when I was 19 and he played Dukey Stick and he told me I made him feel old cuz I told him my father played your music for me when I was a baby!!! lol I was so excited. He was so....historical. Ancestory-like. I love this man his music taught me how to sing because if you were on a Duke album...you had to know how to sang (chante moore, rachell farell, luke perry, josie james...) There is no doubt God got him playing and orchestrating in heaven. :)

Thanks so much for posting all these clips. I regret that I could not attend the service, so these clips are important to me. I worked on the road for both George and Stanley in the 70's and have warm memories of them. IMHO, George was one of the most underrated talents in music. Night after night he would just blow us all into the weeds. He will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace.

I love George Duke and was blessed to have seen him perform on many occasion, I met him in Emeryville at this spot called Christy's it was down stairs from a place(cant recall the name) that George had been performing and me being a bass player we got to talking about music and all the greats that had passed on and George made me feel like I was someone he had known forever and the man had met me only 15 minutes earlier, this brother was as humble as they come and very easy to talk to even in concert he made the ENTIRE audience feel like family and God knows that's an incredible and rare gift to make thousands of people feel like one big family all at once, may God bless you and keep your spirit alive always George Duke for you are truly missed and I thank you for sharing your remarkable gift of music

George's music and death has effected me so much that I have dedicated an entire wall in my apartment with framed pictures of him. I have also created a short musical memorial montage of George, which I will upload to UA-cam soon. This is simply to illustrate how much this man has molded my life musically and spiritually. In fact, in my pre-need documentation that I have prepared, I have requested that George Duke music be played in the background instead of the organ music that is usually played at funerals.

The day I heard about the passing of George Duke I was so hurt, and loss for words but at the same time I'm glad he doesn't have to suffer with what he went through but he didn't give ppl that he worked with, family, and friends. What an awesome musical genius he knew what he wanted to do when he was 4 years old when he told his mother at a Duke Ellington concert he knew the path he wanted to to take pertaining to music and he exemplified, humility, love, giving, humorous and along with Calibo, Frank Zappa, Stanley Clarke, Miles Davis. He took the time out to make the public which were the fans felt his music, healed, and moved because he worked hard, tirelessly, and focused on the music, rehearsals, studio sessions from the era of 1950s on up to the present day. Hats off and commending the ppl he collaborated with, toured with, wrote for, and mentored I'm sure; and to top it all off with this he was a servant of God one who knew God and lived his life and represented the kingdom and he reminded me alot of the man named David who was a minstrel who played the harp as he began to play King Saul's heart starts to feel relieved from the worries and weariness that he went through that's the same example that God used George Duke to touch and sooth the hearts of us to help us feel better and share with others who George Duke. R.I.P. MR. George Duke u left a long and lasting legacy that we will forever treasure in our hearts 💕. And to Rashid and John Duke what great men of integrity who truly spoke highly about their dad I'm proud of them. I can to my father passing away back in June 14th 2005 but he didn't work in the music industry but he sure nuff gave some concrete stern advice of sound wisdom about how to stay positive, humble and to learn as much about the business side of music and the pros and cons of the music industry highs and the lows of what you go through. So with that being said I salute u George Duke.

The news about their passing still hasn't sunk in. Lovebirds they were. When I first met Corine at THE FIVE HEARTBEATS preemie (George and Stanley were in charge of the music, me on the theatrical side), I found her to be very warm and genuine. As I spent more time with her i.e. hanging out at jazz festivals, on the phone or by e-mail, her gentle, beautiful spirit always sparkled. Of the native Apache people, she was an angel who I will truly miss and know the Creator will hold dear. A-ho!

I had not meet Mr. George Duke personally, face to face; and I never seen him in concert. I know Mr. George Duke, by the music hits, him, and his band members, had recorded;, and was played on the FM radio stations. Sometimes, in the morning, and during the day,, and in the evenings, and sometime at night. I notice Mr. George Duke, music, was different, than all the other music artists, I have heard, before; and his talent, sound very up level, serious skill, and tectnic, and style, that place him and his band group, in one of my best desired artist, who music was jazz, and rythm and Blues funk, at at its best, magical sounds of his time. What a great experience, listen to Mr. George Duke, during the summer time, in the activities of the outdoors, and parks, and house parties. Mr. George Duke is one of my best artist. I would, want him to know that!
