- "Dreadlock Holiday" is a song by 10cc, from their 1978 album, Bloody Tourists. It was written by Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman and was the lead single from the band's 1978 album, Bloody Tourists.
The lyrics, about a white man lost in Jamaica, were based on a true story told by Moody Blues vocalist Justin Hayward about an experience he had had in Barbados; it was a rare excursion into reggae for the act. It became the act's third and final number one single in the UK, spending a single week at the top in September 1978. The single peaked at #44 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the USA. The song was later covered by Boney M on their 1985 album, Eye Dance. (www.wikipedia.com)

why cant the British music of today be as good as the old days
Because the old days were the good days. These days are full of crap. How could anything good come out of crap?
Answer: with a few years of waiting!
The crap will have fertilized the soil to once again grow something new and strong!
Let's be patient!
The trouble with nostalgia is it’s not what it used to be.
That's colonial.past
OMG right ! They were the best
One are.SIMPLY RED.Awesomeness.
THE most underrated group of all time.
Not by me, always loved their music and rate them right up there.
This particular song is really cool. And surpringly a lesser known of 80s pop. Sing it at karaoke now...real attention-getter, I've found. We associate 80s reggae much with Marley, The Police, The English Beat, FYC...
1970 what? Cannot believe I am considered "old" Thos was party music in the day and still is, even youngsters love it if you mix it in they don't know how far back it goes.
8 people don't like this song.
They love it.
😂
I first heard this song about thirty years ago never knew who sang it until 2024 I love it.
I always thought it was I don't like drinking, heard it on the radio today so thought I'd check the lyrics, learn something new everyday. I'm still gonna sing it I don't like drinking though. Great tune.
This band 10cc ..deadlyyyy ..reggae lovers 💯☝☝👍
Sorry, I truly don't love or like reggae, BUT, I LOVE this jam! 😊👍❤️
I just liked this song on the 70’s and never heard about what was reggae at that time…
Snatch has brought me to so many places.

what a song! old school ,class!
reminds the old pop-rock days ..excellent ..
I like this song it rocks
FELICITACIONES !!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!
I didn't know it was an old song, i love it
I haven't heard this song for years. Nice tune :)
So don't bloody listen to it. I love it even after those years.
Bob Marley may be the best Reggae singer ever, not even one song of him could compete with Dreadlock Holiday, that's for sure.
Hahahahahahahahahaahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhhahahahahahhahaaahahah... GOOD ONE!!!!!!!
P.S Don't ever disrespect Bob Marley again you fucking piece of shit
@@ziggyben5591 I thought Bob Marley stood for peace and love and all that.....weird how you, who I suppose to be a Bob Marley Fan, are getting so hateful towards someone else who's just sharing his opinion.
@@TheRyanos
Don't ever forget Ryan that, fanatical and idiot are synonym words!
That's because you listen to Bob Marley, but you don't "hear" him. Same way people listen to Jimmy Hendrix but don't "hear" the message.
Best ever
Damm this was a boss tune in its day.
Yes it was and still is
@@ardyharris It was, still is and always will be :) (Dreadlock Holiday) Been awhile since you posted so best to give some reference :)

I LOVE YOU RIGHT NOW....REALLY...CAN YOU FEEL IT ? :)
This was based on a dream.
The song was based on real events Eric Stewart and Moody Blues vocalist Justin Hayward experienced in Barbados. Stewart changed the location to Jamaica. Graham Gouldman commented: "Some of the experiences that are mentioned are true, and some of them are ... fairly true!"

@LoneagleNL There was a show that changed the words for a skit or something... don't remember what it was. Anyway, it sounds like they're saying "cricket" even though they're not.
Skull kid anyone
Is this some vague reference? Cos I don't get it....
HI TOTARA TEAM
@LoneagleNL Hey, funny that the lyrics on the album liner say: "Cricket" plus it's pretty obvious even without seeing the lyrics.
WATCHDOGS VIBES
