Good testing out there in the field, and it didn't take long to discover a few bugs. This one of those videos where you troubleshoot issues, almost as much as you fly the drone. But hopefully Fimi is paying attention and get these bugs fixed soon. Until that day comes it might be wise to hold off purchasing this drone. Thanks for sharing Marcus.

HEY Marcus great job on this test as always and what i love about your channel your really trying to shine alight on these mini drones including the nano mini and honestly wish they were great but that being said im glad i made the choice of getting the DJI Mini 2 and the 3 pro
I agree, Rick. Nothing compares to the DJI Minis.
In saying that the mini 2 and 3 you will find controllers are being sold in Melbourne Australia every second day due to fly aways while I've never seen a fimi model being sold well actually only 2 on marketplace and I bought them both and still have them.. Mi drone 2020 x8 for the price are hands down fantastic models...
DJI minis are lost in wind and controllers sold every second day.. So it's hm? To dji and its still great to own a fimi model.. Shall see how many mini fimis are lost in the wind of course there are but seems the ratio may be higher with dji.. Service is another thing

Thanks for this review I just received my v2 today the flight is done but the problem was the gimbal tilting. It's now fixed by advance gimbal settings. Be blessed and safe all the time. Welbeck from Ghana West Africa. My regards MARCUS.

I’ve read a lot of reports on the fimi facebook groups that the new navi app is full of bugs right now ,I would imagine that Fimi will sort it out but how soon who knows …great video!

Thanks for the video, I was considering this v2 as possible replacement of my former V1, but even if the video quality was awful in low light, all the automatic functions worked on that one. As it is now, the v2 makes no sense respect to a Mini2SE…

HI Marcus, I cannot speak for the quickshot etc issues but the signal/rth issues seems very similar to the problem I have with my SE 2020 which is a hardware issue related to heat in the controller. I bought my SE 2nd hand so no warranty (but cheap!!) so had to try and fix it myself. It would after a while just lose signal a start RTH but then come back again and keep doing that until eventually the signal did not come back. Distance is irrelevant.
When I opened up the controller, there was a heatsink covering a clip on plate that looked the right sort of area. Under this was the wifi chip which was supposed to have a heat pad to cover the gap between it and the plate .... but it was only covering half the chip and the irrelevant bit of board to the side. So this was this issue. Putting the pad back where it should be got me another couple of minutes but obviously the damage from overheating was done. I have now got it to last a full battery with a few extra sheets of copper extending the heatsink and another heatsink that fill a bit of space that was available. Also drilled a few holes in the plastic for air flow and it now lasts pretty much a full battery.
Yours is new of course so think it's a warranty job I'm afraid...... unless you think it futile to try (but you seem to do fairly well with Chinese warranties in the end) and prefer to get the screwdrivers out!! At this stage probably no damage has been done to the chip so probably some correctly placed heatpads would fix it but either way, flying it as is will probably just do more damage as it did seem to be getting worse.
The other issues are probably firmware but I don't think the signal is, especially with you saying it was to be a hot day.
Just a thought, is it the same controller as the V1 that you may still have? If so, may be an idea to pair the old controller.

I think in the SnR zoom you have to stop recording to zoom, then restart recording. I believe that's how my X8 mini pro does it. I'm going to try it out this weekend.

Still will stick with DJI until the US bans them (hopefully not)! With DJI you get what you expect when you fly (except for Avata props exploding in flight). Thanks for sharing!

Have this and the Potensic Atom and much prefer the Potensic but enjoy the flight characteristics of the Fimi X8 Mini. But the Potensic is more polished.
About to get a DJI Mini 2SE because I cant afford the other DJI drones that are very expensive.

@IdahoQuadcopter Yeah I'm debating the Mini 3 (non pro) or Mini 2SE. I dont need the Mini 3 Pro and all the bells and whistles. Just want to add a DJI product to my lineup. The 2.7K on the Mini 2SE seems pretty damn good without the need for 4K. I dont need the vertical shooting either.
I'm just considering the Mini 3 for something different design-wise than my other two drones (Potensic Atom and Fimi X8 Mini V2). The Mini 2SE looks just like the Potensic. The Mini 2 SE camera is all I need. I'm a recreational hobbyist. I also like to fly these for fun and just wondering if the Mini 2SE is just going to fly like the drones I already have and if the Mini 3 would be something different? Most videos on UA-cam only focus on the camera.
But that Mini 2SE is hard to beat for the price point and is really all I need, although I wish one of them had tracking.
Not sure about your theory on medium video quality helping substantially with processing. Certainly makes plenty of sense, but would require some testing to bear out.
Fimi = Quirki 😂 but I DO like them, aa long as they stay within a price range .

Hi Marcus, good review. Fimi almost always seem to disappoint. The only currently produced drone Fimi makes that works as it should is the X8 SE 2022 V2. I recently ordered a second 2022 V2 fuselage ($310) and will see if that one works as perfectly as my last two. Xiaomi Fimi has more financial resources than DJI. One would think they could compete with DJI, but somehow they seem to always shoot themselves in the foot. Fimi support is also often dishonest. Not a winning formula.
I agree Richard. Fimi offers so much promise as a consumer drone company. They just never quite hit the mark.
I said the same on this drone every one said it was my phone I know you use iPhone fimi need to get there QC sorted get us some firmware updates on this they took alot away from the fimi mini zoom on screen Hd mode nice watching your video since they messed with this app they currupted it for the V2 👍👍

the v2 does have a better picture than the v1 but fimi could have done a lot better,i think they just had a lot of stock from v1 left and decided to do minimal upgrading to sell them off,most of it could have been done with firmware.
I wanted this to be a good value but it is far from that in it's current from.
@@IdahoQuadcopter atleast the tracking works on this one marcus,my v1 would always lose the target straight away but this one locks and holds the target.i for one am pretty pissed about fimi lately,be very careful with your fimi drones as the plastic arms are very brittle,my v1 broke an arm around the motor just from the landings and i just noticed my x8se 2022 has a crack in the same place as i went to fly it last night and luckily i check over my drones before launching or that would have taken a dive into the harbor and been lost forever.time to replace an arm so i can be airborne sgsin with that one.
Marcus, Marcus, Marcus... You do seem to get your fare share of Fimi Defects. Mine has none of the issues yours does. (be sure "Zoom" is turned on in the settings or SAR will not work and the App may screws up).

I’m now at 14 minutes into this video and my advice for a next video would be to test this drones slowmotion function and shoot it with a powerfull double barrel shotgun 😬😂. Maybe i’m to spoiled with my Dji drones but i would not be amused with a drone likes this. Really curious to see your conclusion and opinion about this drone at the end of this video. I start to believe that there is no better drone manufacturer then Dji…the best choice i think regards to drones 🤔👍🏻

Insert a micro SD card in the slot on the back of the drone and you'll be good to go.
