Clay is perhaps one of the best ambassadors of traditional bowhunting (hunting in general) that we have in the community. Truly represents that salt of the earth personality often found amongst true outdoorsman. Glad to see him on your channel! Great video.
It’s pretty awesome that you can watch Clay build a bow from a piece of wood and really understand the origins of bow hunting. Then for you to make a little jab at yourself for what you shoot and he says “whatever makes it fun for you”. That’s so awesome that he has his passion and he wants other people to have theirs, and genuinely enjoy it even if he doesn’t do it that particular way.
Just when I think there's no way that I could look up to Clay more, he goes and shows not only how great of a teacher, role model, and bowyer/hunter he is, but also how great of a father and man he is. I genuinely idolize Clay and hope that some day I can share many of the same great characteristics that he embodies. ~McCoy
My wife and I where cheering him on he was by far my favorite contestant that season and now I know why he's a super chill person when it comes to what he does a lot of respect for that
Clay is the man, he was inspiration to me many years ago when he first started making videos on building bows! I built my first Osage self bow from his videos! and now I am building a hickory fire hardened bow also pulling from his knowledge! Just plain and simply my favorite on UA-cam! Thanks for doing an interview with him!
I've been following Clay's channel for years and his wife's channel since she started it. They both have mad skills. I was right there with you rooting for Clay.
Clay is a remarkable person who has made life choices that many people envy and respect. It took courage and self-confidence to walk away from a paycheck and strike out on a new and different course. Many follow and live vicariously through his work. Liz is equally remarkable. Great choice of a guest. I, too, watched season 8 rooting for his eventual success. I thoroughly enjoy the lifestyle and archery content his produces, however, don't much like the bushcraft stuff. Thanks for your content.
Awesome all around episode highlighting a real dude, who is a great man, teacher, survivalist, archer and hunter 😃🏹🦌 I liked the spotlight on his wife too and shoutout to her channel and the bow building. I really want to build my own bow someday soon. 🏹 Who would love to see Dan use one of his elk tags 🏷️ and chase one with a trad bow 🏹 ? What a challenge that would be on top of something already challenging. I am one of those guys that you are talking about who are absolutely bored with and soul crushed by working a dead end job. I need to figure out something soon and go for it! 😃
Thanks for everything you teach. I am writing to you from Spain.
Dan, I love watching the quality of the content go up over the last few weeks/months. i’d much rather one quality video a week then a bunch of random low quality video this has been a fantastic change
Hey guys! Thanks for the vid. Clay inspired me to make bows some years ago and have been an avid follower ever since. Appreciate ya covering his story and now you too have a new follower in me, I’m really loving your content. Cheers fellas 🤙🏼
I enjoyed watching and learning from Clay on season 8 Alone. If I was ever stuck out in the wilderness, he is the one I would want to be stuck with. LOL I would very much like to purchase one of his bows or learn from him how to make my own.
@@ElkShape random question if you got a second. Building some rip tkos 474 grains with 17.5% foc. Would three max stealth vanes work well with grim reaper micro hades heads or will I need more vane than that? Thanks for all the free content!
@ElkShape been watching Clay for several years, he got me into traditional archery. Just discovered the podcast a couple months ago. Appreciate you guys keeping it real👊
Im all about not wasting money but he needs to treat himself to a nicer shop. When you get to win $300k after taxes for the hard work you gotta treat yourself to some more tools and workbenches.
Thanks for watching, Clay and his family are REAL ONES ✊🏼-DS
Super great guy! We are from the same hometown, and a few years ago got to build a self bow with him - stay in the crunch🤙

Oh what a series that would be for Dan to make his own self bow and go to deer camp with clay. Cream of the crop
This is awesome! We rooted for Clay as well.
Being a compound shooter stick bow shooters have my ultimate respect. Anyone who thinks they are easy to shoot is dreaming.
Love it man! Been watching Clay for years and I knew he was gonna win Alone the moment he announced he was a competitor. Great video!!
No doubt!
Great video! Big fan of Clay Hayes and ElkShape. So great combo on this video. God Bless both family’s. Keep up the good work!
Clay is awesome, always trying to educate the community. I’d love to be able to make bows like him one day.

I got carried away to Idaho by that one, good stuff. Yes, FL/GA spot stalk hog hunting ticks... you ain't getting the head out.
Great content it would be nice to see more like this getting to no more real people like yourself appreciate your time people ❤👍👊
Hell yeah brother
Time for you to get a long or recurve bow my friend expand your horizons
that was awesome
Be careful with the trad bow thing. It will grab your soul and pull you in. It’s an unexplainable love for the flight of the arrow.
very cool
Content is 💵 Dan!
Thank you! Captain Tyler was a big help!
Ok, what about the trebuchet?
Canned meat is a open it and eat it cold or hot
An elk wouldn’t have a chance with this two after them
