      Well, do let me know what you think once you've seen all of it. They are great guitars for sure. I may be getting out my Godin this week if it keeps raining as my recording microphones do not like those conditions when recording the acoustic nylon strung. The Ambiance model is totally convincing as a mock Spanish guitar.
      All the best,

    Hi, I had a Godin multiac for a couple of weeks and then traded it back in ( not sure which model). For me the biggest problem was the playability; because it’s a solid body instrument there is so little flexibility in the soundboard that it just felt ‘tight’ to play. I also have a Yamaha silent classical guitar that I thought I’d use for recording but it has exactly the same problem. Another problem with the multiac is I found it unpleasantly heavy and awkward to sit with. I agree that the multiacs sound amazing but for me they just did not work. My advice go and sit and play one with minimal amplification for an hour or two before you buy. I do of course get the obvious advantages from a sound engineering perspective for playing live. Great site...thanks for posting.

      Hi, yes indeed it's horses for courses. I personally love the regular Spanish guitar but the Godin does offer some interesting options. I distorted mine in one video putting it through a modified Boss distortion pedal and it didn't flinch!

    Great video. I just wondered what unit you used this through for your MIDI effects and also, what preamp do you use when playing live? Thanks.

      HI and thanks for reaching out. You can run direct into -20db effects pedals or if direct to PA then my preamp is the LR Baggs Para Di. For the Synth, I use either the Axon AX100.
      I hope that this helps. Thanks for watching.

    which amp would you recommend for live performance? I notice when I connect it to an interface and listen through studio headphones it sounds with A LOT of dynamics (which is great) but then when I connect it directly to an amp it losses almost all the dynamics. It's like two preamps trying to compete with each other. doesn't sound soft, sounds hard. I don't know how to explain it. probably the word is lack of dynamics.
    I've tried:
    - Guitar + Interface + Studio monitors (no software involved in the middle. All physical)
    - Guitar + Mixer + Studio monitors
    - Guitar + Interface + Interface + Studio monitors
    Also, all the same but instead of studio monitors, these acoustic amps:
    - Yamaha THR-5A
    - Fishman Loudbox Mini
    Anyways, interface+headphones gives an amazing sound. so far I couldn't get a good result live

    • @EverythingGuitar23
      @EverythingGuitar23  Рік тому

      Hi, thanks for the question. It sounds as though that you are experiencing an impedance mismatch when connecting to some amps; check the manuals for the amps. But if the signal is better to mixing desk and full range speaker then why not stick to that method?
      There are dedicated FRFR type speakers and monitors. I personally prefer active pa speakers (e.g., by Alto), and I've seen other pros simply plugging directly into a single 1x15 pa full-range speaker. A dedicated channel strip could act as an interface, or simply a reasonable quality mixer before the speaker/s. Price, size and weight will obviously be personal to you. I hope that this helps? Let me know how you get on.

    Would you consider the Godin as one of your "must have" guitars? Or is it a luxurious toy?

    • @EverythingGuitar23
      @EverythingGuitar23  4 роки тому +2

      JackFeelsNerves hi Jack, I cannot live without these Godin's. They get so close to an amplified classical sound. Therefore, the time saved in hassle and avoiding lumping huge amounts of gear seals the deal. The final consideration is playability. Okay, a real classical guitar has a particular feel to play and produces a thump of sound that is unique. Therein is the trade-off. Thanks for the question. Good luck with the next GP!!

    Hi, How do you get the Flamenco sound out of the Grand Concert Multiac SA? I heard TC Electronic BodyRez will do the job. Please advise?

    • @EverythingGuitar23
      @EverythingGuitar23  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Dariush. As far as I can tell, the TC Electronic BodyRez combines compression with EQ. It will do (in theory) that which the Aura system used to do (and the "aura" comes equipped with the Godin Ambiance models). Here's what I would suggest before buying that: Mic-up your Godin (with a studio-grade microphone) and you will hear the detail of the string sound and can eq that appropriately. Then blend with the SA pickups via a mixer. The SA has RMC pickups and although they are good, they do not sound so much Flamenco - consider taking out some mid-with an EQ pedal (not too much in case you unbalance the sound). Your other option is to add a contact pickup (disc-shaped) like a fishman SBT (expensive), or something cheap from Thomann Germany; this is all for tonal experimentation purposes. Once you have either disc, mic and SA/RMC you can then say use the SA for midrange, and the other mic/disc for high and low eq. If you go for all three then you have the best of all worlds. My warning that nothing will actually sound like a flamenco guitar. If you want to sound like Paco De Lucia for instance, he uses a microphone and a nicely contructed guitar made by a top luthier! Thanks for your question. Best regards, Dale Harris

    apart from mic imaging options (in duet ambiance)... which one is better? SA or Duet Ambience?? can you please tell and show some light? thank you so much for the video... love from INDIA...

    • @EverythingGuitar23
      @EverythingGuitar23  3 роки тому

      Hi, if you want authentic spanish guitar sounds then the Ambiance is better in my opinion. If you require synth access then SA is your main choice (and the guitar sounds are usable just that the in-built sound options are much more limited and have a completely different feel and sound). I hope that this helps. Can I ask, are you thinking of buying a Godin guitar?
      Best regards, Dale

    I just received a used ACS-SA non slim model. The action is terrible high and tried a set of new strings and not jazzed about it. So is there a way to learn how to adjust the truss and what brand and string tension do you recommend. Your unit sounds somewhat nicer.

    • @EverythingGuitar23
      @EverythingGuitar23  3 роки тому

      Hi David, firstly can you confirm for me if you have the RMC (hex) pickup system installed? And you have nylon/classical type strings? And yes, most likely you require a truss rod adjustment of at least a quarter turn, measuring neck relief beforehand with feeler gauges. What's your intonation like? Still accurate? Is the guitar kept in a case and your location not too hot, or at least away from central heating? Best regards, Dale

    • @EverythingGuitar23
      @EverythingGuitar23  3 роки тому

      For now, order a light set of strings: such as D'addario EJ43 Low/Light tension. That will help to ease the "pull" a little, but tightening the truss rod is your best bet to reduce string bow between frets 5-14 roughly speaking. If it's too high at the nut then cutting the nut slightly deeper is one option but really should only be done with experience and confidence. Do not mess with the rmc pickup height at the bridge I suggest. Manufacturers leave the truss rod on the slack side in order to encourage neck bow in the correct direction. The truss rod should be adjusted often, and it is your friend.

      @@EverythingGuitar23 Yes Dale I have the hex system. I read last night about the process to check the neck and downloaded it. I have feeler gauges (at work) and it came in the Godin soft case (padded quite well). It is/has not been in sunlight or heat for the couple of weeks I have had it. It i new for me. 2017 ACS-AS written on the head stock. A friend looked down the neck and said it looks bowed (upward/forward) some. Thanks for your time.

      @EverythingGuitar23  3 роки тому

      I see, that's good news. Feel free to me know if you have some success. I had to do the same with my rmc hex system and the truss rod adjustment got it back to normal. Best regards, Dale
