"X" is just our unknown. We are trying to solve for what that angle is so we just put a variable as a place holder essentially until we figure it out.

Why the 180 degrees

The three interior angles of a triangle will always add up to 180 degrees.

How is it 45 for number 4

45+85+50 = 180
And if two angles already sum together to equal 135, then the last angle must be 45.
