- Champion in 1984 when he was lionised briefly by the British music press. I believe the backing track was borrowed from a reggae tune but I don't know its identity.
Champion's back recording to great effect with Rise Kagona.
This track was on an NME cassette issues in the early 80s. I listened to it over and again on coaches between home and my parents' house
Tapeworm was the NME cassette in question 😊
Love it, mixes reggae, country and even yodelling !!
the undisputed king of caledonian cajun swing! Awesome - thanks for posting this!!!
Champion Doug plays the 100 Club, Oxford Street, London on February 13 2015 - first show for thirty years.
'Gone Train' did it for me...
One of my favourite ever 12" vinyl up there with the new age steppers. Is the reggae track Marcia Griffiths Feel like Jumping?
Yes - I din't know this until it (Marcia Griffiths)appeared on a spotify playlist.
Erm, I think you mean Andy Kershaw, Nik Kershaw was a shitty 80's pop star. And how is John Peel a tosser? Without him you would never have heard of music like this, as he championed this guy amongst thousands of others. Have some respect sir!
i really want to hear a song he did called one black night or knight only ever heard it on Nik Kershaw when he was was on radio 1. I think even tosser Peel played it too
