I think you should react to the whole show, or at least watch it on your side, all of the themes are just hidden gems, everything sound so good, it looks so good, and the story is so good !
I never realized just how perfect the opening is to the manga. One of the main plot points is that Phos keeps losing parts of her and needing to replace them with substitute materials. This song I feel kinda represented that with every new instrument being added over, becoming a cacophony of sounds that somehow still makes a song, just bordering on the edge of chaos.
Very rare for a song to fit a story so well that is super cool
Don't forget to notice that it doesn't stop being beautiful

The composer of this song, "照井順政 (Yoshimasa Terui)", is a guitarist and writer for a post-rock band.
He is also a music producer who provides post-rock and odd time signature songs to idol group, "sora tob sakana".

No way, that’s crazy!! I watched houseki no kuni recently and the opening gave me very similar vibes to the opening for the anime High Score Girl, which is by sora tob sakana. No wonder I love both those songs. I need to check out more of this composer’s stuff!
Houseki no Kuni is one of my favourite anime and manga of all time, but it's not very popular. I can't recommend it to people enough. I'm really happy to see your reaction to this OP. That patreon has a great taste. Anyone who likes the animation style of Studio Orange (Beastars, Trigun Stampede) definitely give it a try.

This show is a visual and ambient musical MASTERPIECE. This show deserves continuation from Studio Orange! Very great reaction!
The many people who would love to see the anime continued have to hope that the Production Committee have the same idea, that they choose Studio Orange again, and that Studio Orange are available. I particularly mention the latter because if they aren't available then any further anime could go to another studio and we really don't want anyone other than the original production team and director at Studio Orange continuing the anime.
I don't know about music theory or what not so I really appreciate you giving this insight on one of the best OPs in anime!

Yeah this track is incredible. Idk much about music theory so idk how to rly describe it but I can tell this song is very complex with all the different rhythms and layers present but it all comes together so beautifully.
I remember someone said that the notes resemble that of different light length that passes through different facets of a gem, which are irregular shaped. I'm not sure if they quoted the producer of this music. Which is why the notes kinda sound wonky?

I love how gloriously schizophrenic the song is - every part is doing its own thing, and yet you can hear the method to the madness where all the parts work together.

Easily one of my all time favorite openings. It's so damn funky. The drums are so good, the violin just fills things out so well. It's such a fitting opening for the anime as well.
The rhythmic interplay of everything is so damn satisfying.

This opening just hits different if you're fully caught up to the Manga. Phos's character just takes over your mind.

Mmmh yeah this is so groovy, love it. Anime is good albeit a bit un-traditional with the usage of mainly 3D CGI, but it's done _so_ well and fits well too with the characters and the world. Totally beautiful to watch.
This is in my top 3 favorite anime openings. I dont have a musical ear so hearing someome explain WHY this slaps so hard feels really good

This song has been composed by Yoshimasa Terui, guitarist and composer for the band haisuinonasa, which has unfortunately been on hiatus for almost 10 years; I strongly advise you to check it out if you've enjoyed his work here

This anime is a master piece since the beginning to the end
I knew she was a beaut when I first heard her. I got lost in the instrumental, all the polyrhythms just had me feeling so serene. I want to live in the brain of the person who directed this for one day.
If you're curious there's an instrumental/off vocal version of this that someone edited and uploaded that is very good, I couldn't hear the voice at all. Just search for 'instrumental' with it and you'll find it (EDIT: the channel is Entbell 2). I love it with the voice of course but being able to hear it raw was another experience and I picked up on so many goodies I couldn't hear in the back... Man, so great!

The arrangement on this song is insane im glad people are bringing attention to this. I dont like having favorites when it comes to music but god ill always love how this song is written, its a song i always come back to, and if i had favorites i have no choice but to put this on my top one. I feel like ill never find a song as good as this, no matter how untrue that statement is.

Never expected this reaction! definitely love the effort and love that go into your videos, I liked this song already but you made me appreciate it in a different way. If you accept suggestions there's a very short but interesting OST in this anime (Houseki No Kuni) called Kyoui/Wonder, I think it can almost come off as exotic if we compare it to this song.
