Feels like just yesterday you were starting your playthrough and trying to stall by showing us your photos taken when you replayed Remake haha. The entire “dream” date sequence I was basically ugly crying because it already clicked that Aerith was trying to enjoy her last moments with Cloud. I was not okay haha. I liked that they went the route of Cloud still thinking Aerith is alive. You can tell they’re going to destroy us with the reveal to Cloud in part 3. I loved a lot of your reactions throughout the game. Thanks for the journey 🫡
It's bizarre to me how many streamers/youtubers think that the final button prompt with Cloud holding his sword over Aerith will make him swing. Kind of makes me wish there was a scene of him swinging because they didn't fight it. Just to see the horror on their faces when they realize haha
It's really interesting because to me in no way does the button prompt suggest that it'll equal Cloud fighting it, I thought it was going to result in Cloud swinging, and by not doing the prompt I *was* fighting it 😭 I can't quite tell if it needed to be telegraphed a bit better or something hahah
@@louiseyhannahVODsWell like I said, you certainly weren’t alone in thinking that haha. Part of my thought process was that when Cloud attacked Tifa earlier in the game he pretty much completely lost control and didn’t really show any hesitation. On the other hand, when he’s being forced to attack Aerith he’s clearly still self aware and distressed in which case he’d want to fight against it. But to be fair, it plays out the same regardless so either way one interprets it in the moment it’s really just there for a little bit of added intensity for the player
@@TheJokerAkaCirque I always felt that the button presses were to hold back on the original. You’d try to move only for Cloud to revert to facing Aerith, then his shaking when he had his sword in hand to signify he was trying to hold back. In Rebirth, I felt they did a better job with it since you’re using the button prompts to fight back the Whispers before raising your sword that is being manipulated by said Whispers.
The point where you realize that Cloud's mind is so much more broken in the remake trilogy than it EVER was in the original ... Part 3 is going to be absolutely bananas.
I couldn't agree more. I want Aerith to live, she deserves it. The point of her death in the OG was that what happened to her was a tragedy and not a sacrifice. You were always supposed to want her back.
Of course Aerith deserved to live, but her death is absolutely necessary. Not just for the story either. Her death defined a generation of story-driven gaming, and is a huge reason why FF7 is successful to this day.
@@celineosthaus8032and they had plans for her return but they didn't have more time and money then. Also sakaguchi was very against it. But after 27 years he is not head of FF games anymore
3:25:03 There's, actually, two different versions of this moment: a low affinity version and a high affinity version. You were one of the fortunate ones who got the high affinity version.
FF7 came out when i was 13 and it blew me away. it has remained my favorite game for close to 30 years now. i thought a remake would never happen as it would be too huge an undertaking. it's crazy to finally see things like the Aerith scene redone when i'm 40. god i'm old. even in the original they make you fight jenova directly after with her theme playing over it. so very sadistic of them. admittedly i still wish they had just done a faithful retelling instead of trying to mix in this multiple universe stuff, but i can't deny seeing zack and cloud fight back to back is very cool. i remember i found you because of the viral tweet with your reaction to reno in remake. i was pretty frequent in streams back then (as adus) but unfortunately i rarely can make them now. but i had to make time to at least watch these vods. despite my love of the game, i couldn't justify buying a ps5 for it. i specifically waited for your vods because if i couldn't play it then there was only one other person i wanted to see do it. thanks for your playthrough, it exceeded expectations. keep up your great work!
Thank you for sharing your playthrough with us! 🎉❤ sooo many favorite scenes in this game! We share in your enjoyment and heartbreak with this game. Was so tough to see Tifa sobbing, and not saying a word through the last part of the game. We're all eagerly awaiting the final part of the series, and I hope you'll take heart that this is NOT meant to be the end, but rather the next step in our journey together with our friends ❤
Just got to the end, and just looking ahead at how long we have until the conclusion. I remember back in the original how long it seemed, and how much longer it was for me, since I needed two attempts to complete it as I could not bring myself to finish the last dungeon on my first playthrough. Got that far, decided I was not ready, re-loaded disc 1 and hit "new game" for one more spin before actually completing.
I would like to take you through my various thought processes of Aerith’s fate during the final bit of the game. NOOOO: Sephiroth falls from the sky YESSSS: Cloud stops the blade NOOOO: It glitches and reveals he got her YESSSS: Aerith opens her eyes and raises her hand up to Cloud NOOOO: She says it’s okay with a smile (usually not a good sign) YESSSS: Cloud smiles with tears and says her name NOOOO: The rest of the party see and are destraught YESSSS: Aerith smiles and nods NOOOO: She closes her eyes again YESSSS: Aerith returns for the final fight NOOOO: Cloud asks Aerith to thank him later and she seemingly somberly says “right” as if that probably won’t happen YESSSS: Sephiroth says it might be a fever dream and Cloud doesn’t buy it for a second, saying it won’t work on him anymore NOOOO: Cloud and Aerith have their backs towards each other making it look like they’ll separate YESSSS: Aerith holds Cloud’s hand and says “ready, everybody’s waiting” NOOOO: Aerith disappears but Cloud doesn’t YESSSS: Aerith wakes up NOOOO: It cuts to everybody mourning her making it seem just symbolic YESSSS: Aerith appears by Cloud’s side NOOOO: She says she’ll see them off and no one else can see her YESSSS: Aerith walks from behind the plane and naturally fits in. When something is about to fall she reacts. NOOOO: It becomes clear that no one else can see her Unfortunately it ended on NOOOO. But believe it or not, I legitimately think there’s a chance we can bring her back in part 3.
this comment is not on your playthrough specifically, this is just one thing i think they need to rethink for the game. when cloud raises his sword over aerith, they need to add a little "resist" notification or something. I would say 99% of people during that part just didnt touch the controller because they were under the impression for some reason that that was going to kill aerith and it just makes that scene a little less climactic when you dont try and resist.
personally, i don't understand how people think the prompt was meant to kill aerith. he was clearly defending and pushing away - his actions made sense that he was meant to be resisting. why would the developers make that an option of killing her and not make it clear?
the best reaction ever. tanks

I imagine it's, at least for some of us, because in the original PS1 game pressing the buttons *did* make him come closer and closer to swinging.
They should have made the icons flash a bit more I think.

Cody nailed it, what a great way to act all the layers of Cloud through the game. *Tips fedora *

When the Jenova theme hits so hard, you have jam through the pain.
Aerith deserves to live I don't necessarily agree with the notion that her death is needed for the story of FF7
I mean, if you truly understand the story of the original, then you know that her sacrifice is instrumental to outcome of the story.
@@PixelShadehow so?

I guess she is horrified by how messed up Cloud is

NOOOO: Sephiroth falls from the sky
YESSSS: Cloud stops the blade

NOOOO: She says it’s okay with a smile (usually not a good sign)

NOOOO: The rest of the party see and are destraught
YESSSS: Aerith smiles and nods
NOOOO: She closes her eyes again
YESSSS: Aerith returns for the final fight
NOOOO: Cloud asks Aerith to thank him later and she seemingly somberly says “right” as if that probably won’t happen
YESSSS: Sephiroth says it might be a fever dream and Cloud doesn’t buy it for a second, saying it won’t work on him anymore
NOOOO: Cloud and Aerith have their backs towards each other making it look like they’ll separate
YESSSS: Aerith holds Cloud’s hand and says “ready, everybody’s waiting”
NOOOO: Aerith disappears but Cloud doesn’t
YESSSS: Aerith wakes up
NOOOO: It cuts to everybody mourning her making it seem just symbolic
YESSSS: Aerith appears by Cloud’s side
NOOOO: She says she’ll see them off and no one else can see her
YESSSS: Aerith walks from behind the plane and naturally fits in. When something is about to fall she reacts.
NOOOO: It becomes clear that no one else can see her

So very sad. Sadly, this will end like Rebuild.
We’ve gotta take out the barrier
Hands down the worst playthrough of FF7Rebirth. Not enough stalling smh.
