To me, she is lovely and authentic, and there is a power of sweetness in her voice and tone and heart that has the power to help and heal others with her angelic vulnerability. The judges know the battles and fakeness of a lot of showmanship confidence and perfection projected in this field and for me emmy wears a purity and her struggles with no hiding them. Not every life changing musician was loud, proud and in charge. The best were completely authentic before us. Emmy, Abi, and Jack are the 3 I’m rooting for! Who are your favorites?! :)

Exactly! Girls with voices like this sell records and get streams these days. It's not about having a huge voice it's about making you feel something and telling a story, not about how many runs you can do or how high you can belt.
Does anyone think Emmy sounds like Donna Lewis? “I love you always forever. Near or far closer together….” This was a huge 90s hit. I would have picked that song for her to sing earlier or one of the weeks and to see if she changes it a bit, but her voice sounds just like this song. Just some thoughts. I did not think the final 5 would be the Top 5. I think Abi and Jack will be the final 2!! I have enjoyed Emmy, her uniqueness, and love her humbleness.
My thoughts were the same of emmys voice & the song you mentioned above! & omg i've been trying to figure out the name of song & artist since hollywood week! I could somewhat hear it from memory, it just didnt click completely. I knew it wasnt cyndi lauper albeit close to cyndi's soft tone, and was close to allison krauss soft voice but allisons voice is more fuller. Emmy voice is a treasure, i've enjoyed listening to her sing, these last few weeks have been her best yet!

I think she sounds commercial enough to be successful. There's no doubt she can sing. Most of the time, the "best" voice doesn't win AI, with the exception maybe of Kelly C. I wish all of them happy and amazing careers.

Idk why anyone’s hating on this lady. She’s really endearing and has a super unique tone. We have a bunch of artists who can belt and run and all of that. We need more storytellers! I’m a huge fan.
If by "unique" tone you mean nasal and flat, then yeah, sure.
Abi Carter is a story teller she’s stepped away from that to showcase her extreme vocal talent, Will is a story teller, if you want a good story teller you should’ve voted for Jennifer who took risks and had the style and confidence needed to succeed
@@marah9404 being “mean” and critiquing someone’s talent on a talent show is extremely different. She has every right to perform on a talent show, she also has every right for her talent to be judged, that’s the trade off.

I feel that American Idol is especially frustrating this year because I don't feel that any of the top 24 this year is bad, I see potential in everyone and I do feel everyone has had at least one performance that was really good. What's annoying is that I do feel that taking a risk doesn't pay off while playing it safe does and that makes for a show that isn't that interesting to watch. I have things I like about all the top 5 (in Emmy's case I do like her voice, it's not powerful, but it is pretty and to me she seems personable and authentic), but there's only Abi and Jack that I feel is taking chances, where Will, Triston and Emmy has many performances that seems very samey. And every time Roman or Kayko or Jayna Elise went on the stage it felt like it really mattered to them and I don't need the winner to necessarily be the one with the absolutely best vocals, but I do want the feeling that the performance matters and isn't phoned in. I feel that there's a drive and an energy that is lacking in most of the top 5, that they really don't care that much what happens, where it felt like everything mattered so much to so many of the people that is gone now and that is the frustrating thing for me as a viewer because it's not that any of the top 5 is bad, but that it could have been so much more exiting and I'm missing those performances where I felt that passion.

😂Yeah, everyone needs to pretend they are someone else every week. Let’s see if I diverges this week then I will have to do Michael Jackson next week. Maybe Madonna after that. Then people will admire me.
@@gretacarrick5934 I'm a bit confused by this comment, because I don't feel like I'm saying that everyone needs to pretend they're someone they're not. I just wish taking chances paid off more in American Idol because I find that more interesting to watch than a very similar type of performance each time. And admittedly it's a bit about the passion, because one can argue that many of McKenna's performances had a similar vibe going on, but from her I felt passion and energy and that it mattered more and personally I don't feel that as much with a lot of the remaining five.
and the safest singer award goes to this girl here... she takes zero chances.

How many mega belters have been on this show and the Voice? Where are they now? Once people leave the show all they have left are their fan base. The unique singers are often the ones that succeed in the industry. Your opinion on whether or not her performance was risky or worthy really has no bearing on whether or not she will be successful.

Yet again, a performance that illustrates exactly how brilliant Adele is. Her songs are written for her voice, but she makes them sound effortless. You don’t quite realize just what a full on obstacle course of nuanced texture, agility, and endurance her songs are to sing well. They leave you sweating and ready to lay down if you try and do them justice. And she does them back to back, night after night. Emmy should have chosen a song she could slow down and play at the piano or turned acoustic with a guitar. Adele plays with her light head voice and her deep, rich and powerful chest/mixed voice and you need that contrast to make the song land. The composition along with the lyrics are constructed to carry you along like you’re floating down a river with rapids. There’s a lot of energetic drive to the song and Emmy’s voice got swamped by it.

such a small sound on this big song. It's kind of disconcerting but something I could get used to. She has her own sound, a lil timid, but more confidence than a majority of her performances. She's so likeable. My heart always goes out to her.

Emmy knows exactly who she is as an artist. Her voice is very distinct and authentically pretty. She sings with genuine feelings and emotion. She doesn't attempt to do a ton of unnecessary vocal runs or gymnastics which a lot of times is off-putting. Keep shining girl! People hating are just water under the bridge 💦 let it roll right off!

I smile the whole time she is performing.. every time. She has a perfectly imperfect voice that I personally love. Does she have rough moments? Of course! But I love how real she is. She is very talented despite what many say. Glad she's in the Top 5!

@@cyberrich **Editing my comment to add this in. If idol's using autotune in live shows, then why are we hearing so many pitch issues.. from lots of them? Autotune automatically adjusts, so we wouldn't hear them.
@Wellwhadayaknow I’m not invested in these shows, so no bubble bursting possible. lol Was just repeating what former contestants from previous seasons were saying about current ones. And if they were using autotune during live shows, why is there so much pitch issues? They’d be corrected out.

This was a beautiful performance from Emmy. Very pretty. I do prefer her being at the piano than standing up but she did a great job regardless. She still sang with a ton of emotions.
But it was a song that required a few dance moves, hence the mentorship they received. But she didn't move an inch and was to nervous to dance. She has no chance of a career because she's as boring as a pot of porridge.
This is absolutely excellent. Every word she said has meaning, which is tough with such a melodic song such as this one. The most confident she's sounded all this while. Emmy did a really good job executing this difficult song.
Im not enjoying the hate.. she has something special.. she might be learning to fly..but she is soaring.. she is perfect as she is.. she needs to stop pleasing the people and please herself.. thats whats missing and your hate is not helping her grow.. to be an artist is a tough road.. stay bold..
