Leeds Election Hustings: Climate & Nature

This election hustings took place on Zoom on the evening of 27th June 2024. The organisers invited representatives from parties standing across the seven parliamentary constituencies of Leeds. The event was co-organised by a coalition of environmental groups across the city, and hosted by local broadcaster Peg Alexander.
The candidates who took part were:
- Chris Foren - Green Party
- Alex Sobel - Labour and Co-operative Party
- Chris Howley - Liberal Democratic Party
- Matthew Leese - Social Democratic Party
- Bob Buxton - Yorkshire Party
The Leeds Children's Mayor Mohammed Hussein, from Ireland Wood Primary School, gave a short speech to open the event.
The hustings was organised by Climate Action Leeds, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Friends of the Earth Leeds, Greenpeace Leeds, Group for Action on Leeds Bradford Airport, Otley 2030, Zero Carbon Headingley, Christian Climate Action Leeds, Extinction Rebellion Leeds, Fossil Free West Yorkshire and Our Future Leeds.
